What a nice little demonstration of power by Ellen. She is too scared to participate in the experiment. And since she has the power, importance, and the money, she can make someone else do it, who is at least equally as scared but earns much less and can be forced under the aspect of job security. Who cares about Laurens ar? Ellens fear is much more important right? Who says that peoples emotion deserve equal respect? What a grand, noble and brave gesture! What demonstration of freedom, respect and equality in a country that has equality written in its constritution; by a host, whose signature tag line is "Be KIND to one another!"!

Everyone knows it's not going to injure them it's all part of the excitement.
Then why doesn't she just do it herself, if everyone knows, that nothing is going to happen? I'm sorry. I generally like Ellen. But I feel like she sometimes uses her position to get others to do what she doesn't feel comfortable with. And I just think that that's human, but also less fair and noble than she wants to be percieved, than the image that is her brand. I'm pretty sure her employees don't have the freedom to just say "No, I won't do it!". Maybe the tone of my comment was a little too scathing, but I really see a pattern there. I don't like injustice and inequality like that. Or do you think that Ellen's refusing to do it is a theatrical strategy to make the audience believe it is more dangerous than it actually is? If its about suspense she still could have done it herself. Would have been equally as exiting, if not more so.
i think ur looking into this too much she probably did it for comedic purposes or maybe some more exposure for lauren. steve's been doing all kinds of experiments with ellen as the guinea pig (bed of nails) it's just a joke dude..u can hear every1 laughing when she's called out
nanu1980 Lauren has previously said that she has to agree to these types of things. Ellen and herself only go through with it IF she’s agreed. So it’s not a malicious side to Ellen that we are seeing, and it’s not Ellen doing because she’s scared or thinks herself above Lauren and the rest of her staff it’s part of a CHARACTER that Ellen ‘plays’. Go and have a look on other clips or episodes and you can see it, when she acts like she’s ‘more important’ as you so kindly put it.
So maybe do your research before having a go and insinuating that you know more than you let on.

My 4th grade teacher did the can experiment. He was everyone’s favorite teacher and made us excited about science. He did lots of experiments that were fun and thing to make kids problem solve. I learned lots in that clean and had so much fun!

I've just been watching steve splanger's experiences on her shows few years ago and she looked like a surprised little girl, but yeah she sound disinterested with these ones. I've noticed she is not confident with some experiments (a burned finger, the experiment where she had to breath some gas to change her voice and then she doesn't look good as well...)

yes, yes I understand were all of you are coming from. I postet that comment not knowing what steve spangler does the rest of his time. I posted it on the fact that it`s on Ellen, which is far from a kids show, atleast as far as I know. I do like his other stuff, like the episodes he does with higginsworth. But I didn`t know about them at the time I commented here. I could delete my comment, but I`m not a fan of deleting comments. What has been said, has been said. You can`t delete comments IRL either.

Steve is just a BIT too perky for my liking. "Isn't that fun?" Kinda sounds like Ellen is annoyed by how he treats her like a child... I would be too.. The science is pretty cool but god, I really hate that attitude. He's probably a perfectly fine guy, though, not trying to really bash him, just stating my opinion.

If Ellen was annoyed by him she wouldn't keep inviting him to come on the show. And she's the type of person to not trust everything she sees and takes caution, especially with things she doesn't know about.

scooby25611 He is a science teacher by trade and teaches young kids. His shows are also tailored more for young kids. He even said it that he does it to get kids interested in science. Kids have short attention spans and anyone who entertains kids will need to be energetic and perky. Bill Nye was the same way.

The steel drum when it was crushing itself, but after the big crush, it sounded like the sounds of a metal boat, those creepy creaky sounds.
I love the can experiment, but the 50 gallon can one was super awesome!! scared the crap out of me when it condensed! now i want to see an exploding pickle!! (another great experiment by my high school teachers)
