👍 Admitting you have a problem is the first step to recovery. Your video exposed 2 problems; 1) you have an addiction to knives with pocket clips (which belong on pens & pencils, not knives) and 2) you have an addiction to fidgeting. Both can be overcome with time & will power. First, remove all the pocket clips on your folding knives. Second, every time you have an urge to fidget with a knife take a big swig of vinegar.
Here in " The People's Republic of N.Y.C. Isn't " Public Safety " grand ? Great video. Peace ✌️ , Be Free .
I actually bought two pairs of those! They sure are a solid pair of jeans. Lots of reinforcement everywhere, double knees. and of course, the simulated leather tape measure spot. It actually makes that spot on the pocket too thick for pocket clip knives. So… Rather than use that pocket, I’m using one of the other pockets because they are carpenter pants. Thank you pointer though. I always appreciate new ideas.
For one that has donated to many knives to the Mountain Gods, Boulder, Sand and Water God’s, even a few to the mysteriously unknown. My outdoor folders tend to be the older Cold Steel pocket rippers, pants be danged. Besides, having shedded jeans today is a fashion statement...lol
I could not care less about fashion, it's that the pockets are getting so low I have to reach further for the knife, and the fact that in the winter, that big gap in my pants (prominently displayed in my previous video) allows way too much cold air to come in, and just a little too close to the apparatus!!
Prefer micarta over G10. That said I'm waiting on a Blue Ridge Hunter with camo G10 scales. The maple and micarta scales were sold out. IDK why I didn't just wait for them to restock the good stuff. I was on the interwebs and I was tired and I had to have one.
Thank God for the Interweb and PayPal so we can spend our money faster than the speed of light. Yikes. Hope you wind up being happy with your purchase!!
I never had a problem with my pockets fraying, but i don’t really wear jeans, mostly BDUs, a lot of my pants are probably older than me tho lol, still hold up, and I always carry two pocket clip knives, a multi tool leather men, and just a cheap Walmart pocket knife, I do carry a buck 110 also, in a pouch tho, but same thing always on me, either for work, hiking/camping
Hey, another great video my dude!. It would be awesome if you made a video on how you store your knives . I saw some tool boxes there, and it looked cool. Stay warm.
I've lost a couple knives carrying with the pocket clip...One while cutting firewood, something must have brushed up against the clip...and the other time I have no clue...It was just gone....also pocket clips makes your pocket unusable for anything else...because if I put my hand in that pocket to reach past the knife when I bring my hand out it often knocks the knife either up or out.... I do deep pocket carry....and remove the clip...makes it a little less bulky...I carry a 3 1/4" lock blade....I've tried a leather holster...but Im just used to the pocket carry..
Overuse will obviously exacerbate wear and tear, but the abrasion which causes the the wear and tear can easily be remedied by increasing clearance. Simply bend the clip outward ever so slightly. Problem solved. Not a big deal lol
It is crystal clear now 😂 I hear you friend. Since beginning my love affair with Spyderco this summer, I have developed carpal tunnel and started to notice my pocket fraying 😂 Not the knife, just the knife’s habits that ensue. 🎉
Yeah - you have a little problem. I don't fidget with my knife - I use it - often deploying for use on my job as maintenance guy. After pocket fraying my second pair of Carhartts I bought a belt mounted open top leather pouch my now 'clipless' folder sits in - done.
So what I get from this is that you are not really looking for a solution, but at the same time I cant help thinking that it cant be that difficult to reinforce the pockets with a thin piece of leather or durable rubber, something like that? Just a little patch where the clip goes? Idk maybe it would look/feel very out of place, maybe it would be a conversation starter. Just throwing thoughts out there.
LOL! Ye ol' fidget factor. Fortunately for me, I am not afflicted with that problem. I do play with a new knife but that only lasts a couple days. A lot of my pocket knives I carry in thin leather pouches in my pocket. They hold two knives or tools, and sits perfectly in a pocket. Allows me to carry them in an upright position. If they have a pocket clip, it clips to the leather pouch. A lanyard makes them easy to retrieve. Otherwise I have little use for pocket clips on knives. I find it harder to pull them out than if the knife is lying loose in my pocket. And now there's all this fixed blade pocket carry. Sorry. NOT INTERESTED. It's a fad in my opinion (dangerous, bulky, awkward, and with limited concealment). I will carry a fixed blade on my belt though. All kinds. I will also carry a folder on my belt. All kinds. I made a leather belt sheath where the snap sits low on the sheath. This allows room for the pocket clip and so the flap goes over the clip.

I think you’re right, vinegar is the answer.
Hilarious... but true

Excellent comment and advice!!
Stop touching it, you'll go blind
Sing it, brother!

Hmmm, I am beginning to have vision issues. Maybe there is a connection.
Try an Emerson with the wave feature…..lol
I did try them years ago. Was not a huge fan.
Wrangler Riggs jeans have a reinforced pocket which I believe is for tape measure clips but may suit your needs if you do not mind carpenter jeans.

Sounds like you've got a solid system!
Pull it out of your jeans and rub it, it will turn into a fixed blade.
Define "it". 😉
@ Ha! Great work on your channel Sir.
Thank you!
lol

I will definitely get to that in a future video! Thanks for asking!!

Well I guess I'm not the only one who's lost a knife to a mystery.
@@knifetimestory Losing stuff always turns my stomach....makes me feel dumb...
You too? That is how I feel. Weird huh!

I’m waiting for the pocket protector to become made for pant pockets, just for pocket knives to clip over.
I'd give it a try!!
Hello Again. Spyderco Ladybug 😁😁👍👍
Too tiny for me.

Or...stop fidgeting or just stick with inside the pocket and fixed blades!!!
@@knifetimestory Haha how is that working out?
Slow progress at the start. 😁

With Emmaus for homeless people, it's enough to clean your BUG, to be banned for the rest of your days, fidgeting a p2 HOLY COW 🤣🤣🤣🤣
That is a deep comment.
Not sure where charity comes into this, and I’m not sure what BUG means, but the rest I do understand.
I am a collector, every knife I buy I remove the pocket clip. I can’t stand them. My pocket knives go into my pocket, not clipped to it.
Not a bad policy!
