This is making me tear up. I’m that guy. I gave up smoking. I’m fat. And I’ve been there for a month. But honestly it’s been the most rewarding month of my life.
Bro, I'm happy for you, you earned the hardest belt the is. Just getting started is the hardest part. Stopping bad habits is so hard and you are crushing it.
Tonight is my very first jui jitsu class at a machado academy. Never done any kind of training before BUT this is my next step after losing 100lbs in 7 months. Currently at 260 so some way to go yet but I’m sure bjj can help with that…super nervous but ready to roll
I started my BJJ journey last February 26th, 2022. Of course it is competitive (I tapped many times). But I am glad because I get cardio and exercise. Good video, Brother!
Great story. Thanks for sharing and being so open about all your fears and habits. Awesome to see you overcome some of your challenges. David especially looked better after only 3 months
I'm in the same boat as the guys but I'm 400 pounds I have problems with alcohol and I lost my job 2 years ago I got seek of psoriazis and I couldn't work you inspired me whith the video thanks
Today I start my jujitsu training!! I’m very nervous!!!! I have always had an interest. I’m an alcoholic I suffer from depression and anxiety, I hope this beautiful art can change my life!!!
Lucky man, all our gyms are still in lockdown, hope your first day went well, for sure it helps with the depression and anxiety (have the same myself) don't worry about being overwhelmed your going to get there, wish you luck
I love how instead of just looking for solutions in pharmaceuticals and an easy solution-in-a-bottle, the white decided to use hard hork as the main ingredient in his life-changing strategy.
I think it all depends on the BJJ school. I'm in 4 months 3 times a week. No stripes and I'm totally fine with it as I know that I'm just at the beginning of a beautiful journey. There's tons to learn and the possibilities are endless. A colleague of mine is 1.5 years into it, got gold medals and has 3 stripes on his white belt...
check out that joey diaz podcast, he does the same thing. sometimes will drive half way there or even get to the parking lot and leave. the people really help make the difference; if your gym crowd sucks, perhaps there's another in your area? mine has overweight people too. a lot of individuals, myself included, battled weight issues.. treat it like AA, "keep coming back, it works!"
Being fat is awesome in bjj. People can't put you into triangle, they can't close their guard properly, if you're on top, they have to tap from the weight alone. Can't do a choke, because two chins protect the neck.
Lol I lose weight so easily when I'm consistent, and that's without even watching what I eat. Today was my 1st day back after 3 months. Going back only because I want to lose weight without watching my diet. Kinda crazy when you think about it. I would rather get smashed for 90 mins vs trade my burger for grilled chicken.
Why would you lose weight going into bjj? My weight is my number one weapon. If you can just get on top, you can chill there and you'll eventually tire them out.
@@pendem4951 so in 6 months they're blue belts? never heard of that...ive trained with a lot of guys that train 6 days a week and it took over 2 years, see them roll and you'd notice a difference.
@@Dashooter911 I know some here will say that I'm just "jealous" but I'm not. I have 3 stripes on my white belt too, but I train 6x a week, roll every night 6 rounds, and have won gold, silver and bronze in both GI and NOGI, and I've been training for 10 months. I like that it takes a longer time to earn my stripes because then I know I deserved them. I don't want my blue belt until at least 2 years of training. I just don't get it. Maybe I'm old school.
I’ve lost six pounds so far. When I found out I literally cried. It’s been the best decision I’ve ever made in my life

How long are your classes during the week?
@@postnutregret 1hour 30 mins / class but you can spar how much you like afterwards.

3 stripes in 3 months? 3 days a week?? a little quick, no?
Not if you earned those stripes. Some people just have a knack for jiu jitsu

M L it’s not normal but then again BJ penn got his black belt in 3 years and that’s not normal either.
What's the update?
i’m assuming they stopped
3 stripes wow
