Strange how test audiences decided I am Legend's Robert Neville needed to die instead of making him realized what he had become. There is a reason for the movie being called I am Legend. The book is called I am Legend. And this is because Robert Neville becomes a "legend" to those humanoid survivalists. He is a "legendary creature", the one who hunts humanoids. Like, literally, audiences changed the whole meaning of the book and Hollywood decided to take a step far from the source material just to please them.
Watch the alternate ending it’s better
Which makes it more ridiculous bc the rumors of a sequel goes with the alternate ending instead. Smh.
@matsonboi3244they are using the alternate ending for the sequel that they are filming
Even though the alternate ending makes no sense as it shows them driving over a bridge that was shown to be destroyed earlier in the film, it's still my canon and the theatrical ending can burn in movie hell
I never liked the movie due to the ending.. never read the book though... the other ending would have made it a much better movie.
Kinda funny they made Deep Blue Sea not realizing people would hate Saffron Burrows' character. She's literally the only hateable character in the movie, including the sharks. lol
Besides she was LITERALLY Dr Frankenstein, she HAD to die.
The first thing that popped into my head when I saw that title was "Deep Blue Sea" everyone hated the main female character
Yep! Her not making it to the end was arguably the nicest surprise of the whole movie. It still baffles me how anyone could have ever expected audiences to root for her. You may forgive her that her experiment goes awry, but her going out of her way to prioritze the sharks over her friends at every instant, getting most of them killed unnecessarily in the process ... I rest my case.
The 🦈🦈🦈🦈 all agreed.
Little Shop of Horrors: Audrey II was supposed to eat Seymore and Audrey and then go on a rampage in the original cut. The ending tested so badly (twice) that the studio scrapped the $5 mil ending and did a quick reshoot where Seymore destroys Audrey II.
I've seen the alternate ending. It's awesome.
Merlin's death was not
"Fuckin' SpectaculAAr". He was one of the best characters in the second movie
I think he meant the way he died was a very moving scene
You are right. ;__; He was one of the best characters in BOTH movies. I will never forgive this test audience...
@@schattigerKeks to be fair, I can't think of a character in the first movie who wasn't good. They were all well played. But Merlin did stand out.....
"Oh no..... You got sum-thing to say ta me, you come whisper it in ma ear..."
@@StoffelDilligas That is true, indeed.
Seeing as I am someone who prefers happy endings I would have liked to see Merlin survive.
I agree with the Deep Blue Sea change. No one who put hitler's brain in a shark should get a happy ending.
I find it surprising and a bit confusing that the film's writers didn't see her character's development as the irresponsible, arrogant, and heartless person that we the audience saw.
Naw I disagree I understand why you would want her to die but I think her reasons for what she did is very relatable giving what she saw her mom suffer from.
They killed everyone besides Eggsy just to bring back Harry, and I just can't forgive them that.
Especially Roxy.
Indeed
Amazing video what culture,fantastic job.
In hindsight, and on rewatch, it's obvious that the movie makers expected us to root for Dr Susan MacCallister in "Deep blue sea". But it still baffles me how they could ever have expected that. As it were, I have rarely been so pleasantly surprised during a movie, as when I saw her get unceremoniously chomped by the last Big Bad Mako. And again, on rewatch, knowing that actress Saffron Burrows were under the impression her character was going to survive and acted her part accordingly, this adds a wonderful touch of hilarity to it all.
😂😂😂
No Max and Elise from “Suicide Kings”?
A blade prequel with blade as a teenage vampire and whistlers story of starting hunting vampires and their eventual meeting could actually be good.
Instead they went for a female-driven story where Blade is the 3rd or 4th lead. You know, just what Blade fans want!

Seem like it would be a hit
Horror monster movies 101, the creator of the monster always dies. Either sacrificing themselves to save others or being turned on by their creation. Glad they listened to the test audience
How about 1998's The Mask Of Zorro...
Anthony Hopkins' Don Alessandro/Zorro 1 was supposed to live (as official photos clearly show), but it was finally decided he had to die.
And several of these felt like the wrong choices. Golden Circle and I Am Legend especially stick out. I could complain about Freddy Krueger, but that's a personal preference more than poor choice making.
Love your content 😊😊
It would be nice if RUclips gave a shit about the number of bots plaguing its platform.

While Mark Strong's death in Kingsman 2 bothered me I was more upset by the girl that helped save the day in the first film dying in the beginning of the film. Also not happy about the guy shot in the eye surviving. I loved his character in the first movie but bringing him back was lame. Also why all the F bombs. I am sick of hearing it in accepted general conversation.
Layer Cake was based on a book (I was surprised by this), and in that he does not die. But I guess he does get shot (my dad read it, it’s one of his favorite movies, but now he can never remember if he dies or not in the movie 😂). A more faithful adaptation would have killed the pace /vibe they had going, so his death works out better for the movie.
Has anyone watched the original adaptation of I am Legend? The Vincent Price one called “The last Man on Earth”. Was wondering if it was any good.
It's better than I am legend. You can also watch omega man if you want another take on it.
It's not good. It's excellent.
Just watch it then???
@@jameswilson5813 That one is my favourite.
I preferred the idea of DC's character in Layer cake living. The ending didn't do it for me.
Final Destination is not a horror series.
It’s a comedy.
The big problem here is that an ending can make or break a story and really should leave story telling to film director otherwise the theme of the story is at risk taking down the whole story as a mess.
I felt sorry for that Doctor in deep blue sea she had good intention because it was health research seemed like she was the only one who cared about the sharks too that's why she didn't even seem scared and jumped in the water really just saved everybody else who kind of just mostly caused all the problems probably could have been fine by herself relaxed calm focused in the project education health research.
I think for I am legend two seperate endings got released into the world
I wonder about Alien III
Trust me, test audiences would NOT have chosen that ending. Or even that movie, in all fairness.
It exists.
@@erikthompson619what happened in the end?
Jason over Freddie. Every time. Freddie plays around. Jason doesn't.
I'm just here to look at Gareth.
In I Am Legend, I thought that the female who was used as Neville's Guinea Pig, was the Alpha's daughter rather than his mate. It is stated in the movie that she was about 18 y/o, so wouldn't it make more sense that she was his daughter instead of his wife?
test audiences killed these characters? that’s both rude and psychotic
too bad the director did not do the same to captain marvel in her 1st movie.
🤬
The death of Dr. Susan MacCallister in Deep Blue Sea made the whole movie pointless. Aren't most of the test audiences in Los Angeles or Las Vegas? Do they really represent the rest of us?
Those cesspools? Nope.
Why do you think it made ending pointless? It's entirely logical conclusion of this story.
BTW, i'm not from LA or LV, not from american continent for that matter)))
Not really. It was poetic justice. Similar to Frankenstein being killed by his own monster.
Test audiences are around the country, including the south, midwest and east coast.
