I saw the GTA thumbnail and instantly remembered playing San Andreas with a permanent sandstorm, riots everywhere, everyone roaming with weapons, and cars flying off into the stratosphere
Good times with cheat codes. The flying cars was my favorite. Plus there was the non-cheat time my brother was playing and a plane crashed into CJ in the middle of nowhere. That feels like it SHOULD have been the result of cheats gone wrong but wasn't.
If you turn on the "riot mode" and "Chaos mode" the game becomes near unplayable. If I remember, one Made the game match the "chaos" of the last level when everyone goes crazy and start fire, and the other one made it way worse cus it did similar, together everyone us running round with molotov cocktails and your car catches fire a minute after you get into it. I loved it
@@paigecee4085this happened to me as well, if you change height too fast It can happen, or when you are swimming and they crash into the ocean cus they are a set distance above you when they spawn. I wish devs would add cheat codes again. I’d take just Big Head Mode at this point. GTAV does it perfectly: if you cheat, you don’t get to save or unlock achievements. That simple change means you can indulge in all the chaos you like without ruining your game. Imagine today’s stunningly realistic graphics combined with ridiculous, wacky cheat codes that result in a beautifully uncanny mess.

That’s my TED talk for the week, thank you for coming.
That's pretty spot on. The OG Konami code only exists because the QA employee sucked at the game and needed a way to play the whole game easier. While it'd be fun to have some of the old god mode cheats in games, it doesn't feel like they're necessary anymore
@kevinbourne1306 Yep even single player games try to milk you by selling xp boosters , gold, or weapons and armors those all become pointless if you can push a couple of buttons and become god for free.
Might be some of all the things listed here and in the replies, but also there's not much need for them anymore now with mods. Mods essentially are cheat codes pretty much. Only would really need them on console I guess
I remember getting an Action Replay in middle school and there was a cheat for Pokemon Diamond where you could pass through any wall or obstacle by holding B and running into it. I was near Snowpoint City when I decided to run through the treeline and started running around chaotically in the sea of densely-packed trees. Soon I realized I couldn’t remember which direction the town or roads were. I gave up, but not before instinctively saving my game. The most scariest one. Pedestrian with rocket launcher. They will just fire their weapon no warning, even if they fire close range and kill themselves.
Technically that cheat doesn't break your game unless you end up in a cutscene where the other characters are shown. There was another code that adds Sephiroth to your party, but in place of Vincent iirc
i was going to mention FF7 actually. Because Sephiroth is classified in the game as a playable party member, All gameshark cheats that give your party strength also gives it to Sephiroth so if you make your party immortal, Sephiroth also becomes immortal and you can't beat the game because the last boss is immortal. All cheats work on him in the last boss fight so cheating is hard.
GTA codes post 3 were weird. You could save your game after using codes in 3, but in Vice City & San Andreas they corrupted your save file. At least on my PS2 versions they did.
I remember getting those save warnings and luckily it never happened to me but I always got stuck in Vice City so it wouldn't have mattered that much. Kid me hated the mission Death Row. Took forever to beat it. Now I just use the helicopter trick
I used the riot code on GTA3 when my brother was playing, he was right by a safehouse, then he went to the bathroom, I put in the riot code. He came back and saved the game. He didnt first undertsnad why everyone was fighting, then he figured it out. I also put in the code where eberyone got a random weapon. He was in the middel of a mission when an old lady blew him up with a rocket 🤣
So what we have here is: 2 games with cheats that can't be turned off after saving, 2 games with codes that make the game too easy (and one of those is a "I cheated once so obviously I will cheat again" lack of self control moment), 2 games with codes you can turn on and off at will in the main menu, and 3 games that get ruined if you alter the actual game code. Sounds to me that theres only 2 actual codes in this video that will ruin your save file.
I learnt the hard way when I saved GTA 3 with the "pedestrians attack everyone" cheat on, came back to it a little while later only to see Misty running over and joining a fight when I did a mission where you have to pick her up. Some great times were had with with that cheat and the "pedestrians have guns" cheat. Those two together made Liberty City an absolute warzone. Couple it with the "gore" cheat and it got even funnier. Will never forget trying to get a car, hearing an explosion and then seeing a leg fly into the frame shot.
In GTA San Andreas, the mission where you save Madd Dogg, using too much cheats, will cause him to fall and the mission fails automatically. I know this is true, because I seen it with my own eyes.
@@travit666 It sure does. It gives you a warning. "Too many cheats will damage your save file." It damaged my save file. Everytime the mission started, Madd Dogg fell off the roof automatically, the mission was impossible to complete at that point. I had to start a new game file. It was terrible.

So, not always an advantage as we use it to also start with NO FUNDS which can often only be done via the cheats anyways.
Playing as Master Hand in Super Smash Bros Melee is messy not only because the controller port 3 trick is hard to do, but after that you need to find a stage that doesn't crash. And if you find one, not only can't you lose because you can't get knocked out (I haven't tried an HP game so I don't know about that), you also can't win because the game will crash before the win screen.
I absolutely ruined my first experience with a PS2 Prince of Persia game, I think it was The Two Thrones, with a GameShark and the invincibility cheat. I beat it in a couple hours and haven't played it since. I absolutely didn't repeat that mistake with the next one I tried...
Star Wars Jedi Knight 2:Jedi Outcast had an invincibility cheat, but if you used it early in the game, you just softlocked because a certain encounter requires you to lose to progress the game, but the game can't progress because the trigger for it requires you to lose all health to continue l, which you can't due to the cheat being active and you can't turn it off. I'm not playing Sims to experience tedious real life - going to work and earning money. I do that daily. I just want money to build a ridiculously big house filled with the most expensive stuff. And then I can stop playing for a month or so.
3:40 so there ISN'T such a thing!? 🙀
🤣
I love you
Surfing Pikacu wasn't that hard to get, you had either event...or just use your pikachu in Stadium
No Zelda Link's Awakening skipping parts by pressing select before transitioning to a new place.
Got my Surfing Pikachu from Pokemon Stadium.
the O Canada cheat is like the How do you turn this on cheat in Age of empires 2 where you spawn a car is medieval times 😂
I was thinking the same thing
I think you have something wrong with your copy of saints row 2 if you can't turn off any cheats, I can toggle evil cars on and off at will and to my understanding, so can everyone else.
The same can be said for literally any halfway decent movie. Maybe you should try watching a bit more than just these nine films.
Can't believe you covered Age of Mythology instead of Age of Empires' "how do i turn this on"
Timesplitters 1 is surely a precursor to these online multiplayer games
Can't get over the first HURDLE without jumping? was that intentional?
I miss the days of cheat codes especially the ones the let you go nuts and still have fun
jesus psy i love you lol the star wars commentary really started my dirty mind off 😂😂😂😂
GTA san andreas is the perfect example with the armor cheat, you use the health cheat and get tons of cash, which kind of ruins the building your empire aspect of the game, so i never use cheats in SA just so i dont get a motherload! :')
The game genie code for super mario bros where every jump made you float higher and higher
IDK i got so good at SanAndreas when it came out I could beat it with Riot mode on start to finish
I had to start a new game in San Andreas on ps3 because I had the pedestrian's have weapons and riot mode cheats activated. I got to the Catalina and Carl tanker mission and everytime I would get the tanker to the tanker shop Catalina would end shooting the owner of the shop and I would fail the mission LMAO.
San Andreas Riot mode was apart of the syory
There was a cheat code to activate it permanently.
@@CrystalTikal definitely but the fact that it is also baked into the story too is kinda dope
"While their choice of attire isnt particularly intimidating"
I'm sorry... have you READ the geneva conventions? Do you know how many entries on that list are there SPECIFICALLY because of Canada?
I thought there was one you can enter for mega man to not die, but if you enter it on endless mode you can’t due so you can’t record your score.
How about games that seems to "cheats on you",
because the company or devs made them harder because of video rental stores
or regional differences?
Legend of Legaia in the US was edit for rentals and retails you have to grind longer for exp.
In the US riot mode is called realism mode.
Pedestrian riot you can't turn off that cheat gta
That is interesting since I still have a Game Shark and Donkey Kong.
You can always hear the pain in a British person's voice whenever they say the word 'soccer'
Why do they do it tho? (Maybe the writer was American.)
To avoid the football/soccer decision I just decided to go with Fußball. But I'm also not dependent on people on the i-net giving me money.
More bears and ufos
Please do another set of cheats that broke the game 🙏
I had a mod for the sims once that let me turn my characters turn to prostitution.
Hey Psy, thanks for voicing another list! You’re hilarious, don’t forget to keep being awesome! >.
Great video! Keep up the work
I want a timesplitters trilogy remaster
idk how many i ruined a save doing that damn gta cheat!!!!! lol
Sixteen rhymes with Christine
I miss cheat codes. Nowadays you would probably have to purchase the cheat code
I play the real life SIMS and it is not as much fun because I'm literally starving 😢, so when I do play SIMS I want ALL the money.
Wait, fifa games are discontinued?
wtf was that soccer lightning strike in the intro?
Psy, I love your presentation...I feel like I need "NOT LIKE THAT!" as my phone's notifications sound 😂😂
OMG Evil Cars, Spinning heads and the Alien abduction on FIFA. Whoever made them cheats will forever be legendary. I haven’t stopped laughing. 😅😅
GTA riot mode can't be turned off? Then how come it turned off for me? Do you even know what your talking about?
Chapters would be cool.
