Good ole “Guess Who” & Burton Cummings from Winnipeg,Manitoba,
Canada🇨🇦 have been putting big smiles on many of us Canadians faces without the aid of “Alcohol” lol😝 but “Alcohol” does enlighten the effect lol. I’ll never forget listening to an interview with “Twisted Sister” guitarist & founding member John Jay Jay French & he said that he seen the “Grateful Dead” 15-16 times while on “Acid” & one time straight as an arrow sober & he said that they sucked so bad & couldn’t believe how much money he had spent on “Grateful Dead” merchandise over the years & how bad they were live LOL 😂

On a lost and lonely Dublin night in 1992 when I was in a dark place I tuned into a radio station in the Netherlands just as this song came on. I was transported back to Winnipeg, and I felt lovesick for home. I used to hear this on the radio by my bedside when I was a kid. I remember minus 40 late on a Sunday night, really hearing that opening guitar riff for the first time. I have deep love for this song. I had to hear it tonight for some reason, nostalgia or something, but it was ringing in my ears before I even played it. Thanks boys!

Kudos to all musicians who still perform their hits 25+ years later, the same as when they were first released.
In his Squibnocket video, which was a full rehearsal in his barn, James Taylor commented about it.
He said, after playing Fire And Rain maybe 1,000 times, there are times during rehearsals that he sometimes rolls his eyes when he plays it.
But, when he gets out there in a live performance, and feels the connection between him and the audience, he sometimes gets, "bird leather, and goose flesh".
Gordon Lightfoot was like that too. Also, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt.
Then, there's the technical gear side of it.
I'm often impressed by the over-driven sound these guys got, back before anyone could buy it anywhere for $100, with a foot pedal.
I've tried finding out what reverberation equipment Greg Lake used in order to get that deep, massive echo in the lead guitar solo of ELP's, From The Beginning. I'm guessing it included a spring reverb unit. But, there must have been something more.

This song was released around 1972(ish), when my biggest decision was whether to take the bus or ride my bike to school. It brings back memories of watching the Carol Burnett Show on saturday night and wishing that Lawrence Welk wasn't on TV.

Very thoughtful of Burton: notice when Randy plays his solo, most people still watch Burton, which sucks for Randy. Burton recognizes that and comes over and stands almost behind Randy to force the people to acknowledge Randy - nice move

So glad these two rock gods made up. Both are so incredibly talented and underneath it all, really good guys. I hope Randy and Robby can do the same before it becomes a George Harrison and John Lennon eternal regret of not making up before it's too late. Guess Who/BTO forever!

I don't know-I think BTO is more recognized than Guess Who in America, but not Randy B's participation in this band. I'm in New England, maybe it's different elsewhere. They both are awesome (well, I can't stand TCOB, but otherwise)...oh, sorry, just being a girl. prob cuz B.C. was always way to handsome haha
