Hi SCG! Been looking for a review on the '17 model, as I have the option to buy one. So first off, thanks alot for a good and honest one! Would you recommend buying it 6 yo and used? Ty in advance 😊
I just purchased this machine and waiting for delivery. I am upgrading from the Rancilio Sylvia and have an Ascaso mini grinder both purchased from SCG years ago. Is the Ascaso grinder an acceptable grinder for the Giotto or is another model more indicated?
It definitely didn't fizz / sizzle and steam as much as most heat exchangers seem to do when you haven't put water through it in a while. I saw some steam.
So I have been experimenting. If my machine sits idle for longer then one hour I flush and I do get flash boil and have to flush for about eight to ten seconds and I’m good. If I brew within forty five mins of machine being on no flash boil and excellent consistent and tasty shots.
6:58 milk shouldn't get into the boiler (and cannot if fact) -- and that's the reason the vacuum breaker was devised and is in place at the top of the boiler. The steam tip should be cleaned and wiped, of course, because the burned milk on the steam tube is not a good thing either :-)
Just the body style. There are different models /generations with slight differences though. Like new one has burn free steam wands and a shot timer. Mine doesn't :(
The virtuoso doesn't really grind fine enough for espresso. You'll want to look at something higher quality that's made for espresso grinding, at least a Baratza Vario or Rancilio Rocky.
the knock cap (not plastic by the way) is just fitted in place and can be re-adjusted without any tool :) but yeah they could make sure that it is done in factory
I love all of SCG's videos--so informative, clear, and so many handy comparisons to make the tough choices easier. Though I'm impressed with all of them, OMG I love Gail _so much_. She seems like she's the perfect coffee science nerd for the job, and she's just smart and fun and wonderful. She's absolutely the reason I'm buying my upgrade grinder and espresso machine (yay!) from SCG. Thank you, Gail!
the best thing in all of the rocket videos is when Gail gives her little spiel about the brush and scoop.
love the top shot of the steaming, really gives a better perspective on how it works!
Love this woman she is clear and gives so many generous tips

Did you say it's 2.9L Boiler? I believe it's 1.8 which seems to be Rockets standard boiler they re-use on a bunch of machines.
My Giotto Type V just arrived today! Getting it set up and ready to go.
Awesome!
Seattle Coffee Gear Loving it already. Absolutely amazing machine.

I have this machine. I thought with the PID it removed the need for a cooling flush?
That's what they claim, but who knows.

@@jestonhopper5137 nice. Yeah I don't think I'd ever let it idle for an hour. So I'm good
@@BensCoffeeRants i generally don't either as I'm up and running to get out the door for work but for a rainy weekend thought I'd give it go. 😁
Love the recent improvements in video production, very pro! (My Silvia came yesterday!!!)
Love your latte art Gail. A joy to watch :)
How long does it take for the type V to be ready from when you turn it on in the morning? Would like to know how early i have to set the alarm :)
We recommend letting it warm up 30 minutes, though you could start pulling shots at 15 if needed.
Thanks for the reply! Keep up the great videos wuuhu!
Gale, why do you steam the milk before making espresso?..
I know, there are different schools of thinking about this thing, but what's you opinion?
2:56 "this is a three-way solenoid valve".
Giotto/Evoluzione don't have a solenoid valve at this point, right? The pressure release is manual.
Hello. What do you think of the ECM's Elektronika II Profi? Do you think it’s better than Rocket Giotto?

how loud would you compare this to a rancilio silvia? i know this model isn't a rotary pump, so it isn't as quiet.
what is the difference between the mozzafiato and the giotto? besides the main obvious that it has a slim design compared to a more boxy design

Does the last version of the Rocket Espresso Giotto Premium Plus with PID not have a insulated boiler?
Wow!
That's a very nice review🤟
So what's the difference between this and older model?
New style front knobs, insulated boiler, stainless steel cup rail, new styling of body sides, adjustable tapered feet
Would a lelit PL044MMT works for this model? It has a 38mm conical burrs
Definitely would work!
Would a baratza virtuoso grinder work with this ?

How much will one of these set me back? Do I need to take out a second mortgage? Oh and, YOU MY GIRL GAIL!!!
There's a product link in the description box that takes you directly to the Seattle Coffee Gear website.
love ya Gail and your excellent reviews but your pronunciation of Giotto --> Gee-oh-toe kills me. It should be pronounced --> Jot-toh
until r58 beaty also
I feel like this video is incomplete without the chatty camera lady.
Cat
Yes!
Gail seems sad without her! But Gail is still AMAZING and the reason I bought my Rocket Appartamento from SCG and not the vendor in Nashville TN.
i miss kat
Posted on April 20th, my birthday? Fate?
the right way to pronounce the name is "jotto" :)
Jeez, this thing is 2 grand and you get a crooked "R" on a knob. That would bother me so much.
The drunken R would bother me too. :-(
the knock cap (not plastic by the way) is just fitted in place and can be re-adjusted without any tool :) but yeah they could make sure that it is done in factory
but shape bad parmenter beaty it

P.S. I also really liked the duo of "chatty camera lady" (Cat) very much as well.
Woohoo! So so awesome to hear. Let us know if you need any help or questions!
