So, SO grateful for the opportunity to support Give Hope Wings this year. I have been a recipient of unexpected, vital kindness when I was hurting and scared ... thank goodness for precious angels with wings like yourself, Glen. Blessings.
Glen is so awesome. We have Royal Flying Doctors in Australia who do a very similar thing. They fly people all around the Outback to major hospitals and such.
In Canada in the sixties, there was a TV series about them. It was one of the three Australian TV shows I remember. The others being Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, and The Adventures of the Terrible Ten.
Hope Air is a stand up organization that I'm familiar with here in western Canada. I'm familiar with them helping families access commercial flights to without cost to get to specialized medical appt with their infants & children . I will support.
Ooh, i bet those potato chips ones were lovely. The salt from the chips against the sweetness of the chocolate, maybe throw some caramel bits in too 🤤 That charity sounds like such a worthy cause. Australia has similar issues. Such a vast country with small outback communities. Free health care, but you need to get there. With the advent of medical appointments online, it’s eased some of the simpler appointments. But obviously some appointments _need_ to be in person, or surgery of course. I hope the charity run is a huge success.
There is a recipe by the Best of Bridge ladies called Cookie of the Month. It has oatmeal and cornflakes. It is crazy good, especially if you add Skor bits along with the chocolate chips.
I made these cookies with corn flakes. I used 1.5 cups of brown sugar and 1/2 cup of white sugar. Thanks for this recipe, I know why it has a place on the refrigerator.
Definitely a very worthy cause, here in Australia we have the Royal Flying Doctor Service that carries out a similar service to remote areas. As for the recipe there has been a very similar one to the corn flakes version here for around 50 years, I can't remember if it was originally on Kellog's Corn Flakes boxes or Nestle Choc Bits boxes back in the 70's but I remember my mother and older sisters baking them a lot back in the day (and eating heaps of them).
Having lived in Thunder Bay and with a sister still living there I know what Glen is talking about. Many people need to get to Thunder Bay or similar “large” city to get advanced care. Thanks Glen.
My ex was transferred to Canada from the US back in the 90’s when Canada had started shutting down a lot of the rural hospitals. This had such a huge impact because so much of Canada’s population is rural rather than in big cities. Loved my time their but the winters were tough coming from sweltering Texas.
My Mom used to make chocolate chip cornflake cookies when I was little. Loved them. Can't wait to try these variations!😊 I think Hope Air is wonderful.💜 In the US....I don't even have to say a word about healthcare system.🙄
Several years ago I tried a similar recipe for choc chip cookie that had potato chips AND rice crispies, and BACON. The recipe was called "Hangover Cookies". I think I need to make it again and invite corn flakes to join the party! Thank you for the video, and also for your fundraising efforts.
Here in Hawaii there is a locally baked school fundraiser brand called School Kine Cookies & one of my favorite are the butter cookies with corn flakes. I love the crunch...
You Canadians are so lucky (and so smart) to have guaranteed health care. Here in the United States people often have to fundraise just to get the health care part, let alone transportation and other costs. But I’m glad to put in a little $ for your very worthwhile fundraiser and also happy that one of my favorite RUclipsrs (you and Julie) are doing this!
Good on you Glen and Julie for working with this charity! When I was younger, a friend we went to school with wanted to become a pilot and to get his hours he moved up north to Sioux Lookout for the specific purpose of bush flying to small communities who needed healthcare access. Glad to see you doing this!
If you want to continue the “ recipes from books” theme may I suggest Recipes for Love and Murder by Sally Andrew. A fun read and interesting looking recipes.
I grew up in a small community in NW Ontario. My inlaws owned an air service in a fly-in community. While there are Medevac services, it's limited. This is such a big thing that you're doing!! Koodos to you and your friends, Glen!! BTW, my go-to chocolate chip cookie recipe from a community cookbook has rice Krispies in it. I omit them and add a little more flour... I guess I didn't like the crunch. Haha, and this is how recipes evolve.... I never copy it as it originally appeared.
Wish I had watched this a few months ago ... Hello from Sault, Michigan! (ps: a few of your recipes have been greatly enjoyed by the student workers at one of their campus life offices.
How has it been that I've been following this channel for YEARS, and I had no idea you were a pilot or had another youtube channel specifically about flying! More Glen content, super excited about that! And what a great fundraiser as well!
My wife owns (and cooks at) a well loved soup & sandwich cafe in Sault Ste. Marie called The Soup Witch - she said she would love to host you for lunch if you're in town!
The flight is stopping in the Sault on June 5 for one night - not sure how much time I'll have, I think they are planning something at the airport. Thanks so much for the offer; if the timing works out I'll stop by.
God bless you Glen, for doing that and promoting it. As for the cookies, think I'd favor the potato chip ones for the salt vs. sugar contrast. Perhaps use 50/50 chocolate/caramel morsels and a bit of molasses in the mix. Come to think of it some coarse salt with the other two crunchy ingredients as described above would probably be bomb for people like me who like that salted caramel vibe.
How have i never thought to just freeze the rest of the dough. Given there is only 2 of us a whole batch isn't always the best but this way I can make a batch, freeze and then pull out cookies on the days when I am too tired to bake! Thank you!
I have a few of her recipes in my box. Hallmark Mysteries have made some of her books into movies. Another author of cooking mysteries is Diane Mott Davidson, full of recipes, books are a little less cozy but well done.😊
Joan Fluke has a whole book series. The first one is the chocolate chip cookie murder. There are many recipes in every book. They are fun murder mysteries.
What a great way to use the bits of left over cereal and chips. I made a half batch today with milk chocolate chunks and the ends of a bag of raisin bran. Delicious. A half batch made 15 cookies using the 1/4 cup scoop. Now i am wondering about white chocolate and nacho cheese chips?
My favourite use of corn flakes is Afghan cookies, basically a cocoa cookie with crushed flakes and topped with icing and a walnut. Nothing to do with Afganistan, but very popular in NZ.
Hi Glen, you are a kitchen god, love your work and passion for it. Curious why do you use volume measurements instead of weight? Especially in your baked items where you may say use 625ml of flour, wouldn't weighing in grams be more accurate and consistent? Keep it up, love everything you do! Respectfully - Mike
Our family's second favorite cookie is one from our mom. Not sure where she got it in the 70s, probably a ladies' magazine. The recipe is written by her hand in the end paper of her cookie cookbook. They are called Chicago Crunch Chocolate Chip Cookies. Similar to the one Julie found, but it not only has a cup of butter, but a cup of oil! It calls for only corn flakes so haven't tried anything else, and also oats. It makes a huge batch of cookies, so next time we are going to try the dough freezing tip and have fresh baked cookies for weeks!
Glen, I made these last night with cornflakes but split the batch and made half with butterscotch chips. I’ll tell ya what, those are the truth. But I’d recommend cutting back the sugar by half a cup.
Great cause,❤ shame our Canadian gov doesn't step up with transport. 😢 We want sovereignty over this massive land but we fail to service all corners. So frustrating to hear we're relying on charity to do the work of a functional government. 😡
I'll give these a go........... Quick note..... I'd love to help with your Charity, but life is a bit up and down at present. But thank you for your thoughtful and encouraging efforts. Be well and take care. Thank you for all both of your do.
A curiosity; that potatoes, corn and chocolate all come from the Americas. The also seemed to have an edge over the rice. There seem to be various food combos that seem to have a regional compatibility. Others combinations, like roast pork and hazelnuts, seem to have seasonal associations.
My GrandMa’s secret Toll House cookie recipe ingredient: Crushed Frosted Flakes. Never tried it with normal corn flakes. Might be better, as the sweetness level would not be so intense.
Funny, I have made, seperately, Potato Chip Cookies and a Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe with rice crispies called Joyous Chocolate Chip. Have not done pretzels though.
My mom makes a version with Special K. Should be similar-ish to Rice Crispy because Special K is rice based. Before we knew it was Special K we tried Core Flakes. Noticeable texture and favor difference. Recommend giving Special K a try.
A huge thank you to everyone who has made a donation to Hope Air! Thank you so much for your support: support.hopeair.ca/give-hope-wings/glens-hangar
thanks for this, Glen
So, SO grateful for the opportunity to support Give Hope Wings this year. I have been a recipient of unexpected, vital kindness when I was hurting and scared ... thank goodness for precious angels with wings like yourself, Glen. Blessings.
I love how they peck at the cookies.
Glen "I don't think we need a whole cookie each"; Julie rolls eyes in dismay "Okay" !!! LOL. you guys crack me up, thanks!
Congratulations on your fundraising, people are generous.
LOVE THESE COOKIES and love crisping up dated cereals to use that might otherwise be put into compost. A delicious WIN-WIN.
Clark, Australia network made another Flying Doctors show in the 80s
I love the second check on the rice crispies! You need to keep trying cookies!
Thank you for highlighting this wonderful cause...AND sharing more crunchy cookie goodness!
I love Joanne Fluke mysteries
Hope Air is a stand up organization that I'm familiar with here in western Canada. I'm familiar with them helping families access commercial flights to without cost to get to specialized medical appt with their infants & children . I will support.
Nice to see Julie is into that series of cozy mysteries! Every book has tons of recipes!
Never noticed them before this. Now I’m going to give them a try!
I love a good cozy myself, scouring the library shelves and goodwill stores to find them.
Another gorgeous handmade sweater!! There must be a talented knitter in the family.
Of course I am craving chocolate chip cookies fright now.
Your charity sounds very worthwhile!
Ooh, i bet those potato chips ones were lovely. The salt from the chips against the sweetness of the chocolate, maybe throw some caramel bits in too 🤤

I really like the idea of this charity, Glen. Thank you for sharing it with us
There is a recipe by the Best of Bridge ladies called Cookie of the Month. It has oatmeal and cornflakes. It is crazy good, especially if you add Skor bits along with the chocolate chips.
love your choice of charity, and your involvement

One of my mother's favorites. talking 1940 onward,
Having lived in Thunder Bay and with a sister still living there I know what Glen is talking about. Many people need to get to Thunder Bay or similar “large” city to get advanced care. Thanks Glen.
Seeing the hand written recipe in cursive reminded me of my grandma's hand written recipes that I have originals and copies of.
I would literally eat every sing one of those. I love a good chocolate chip cookie.
Thank you for this recipe, I made the corn flakes one. They are tasty and the nice crunchy is pleasantly good.
My ex was transferred to Canada from the US back in the 90’s when Canada had started shutting down a lot of the rural hospitals. This had such a huge impact because so much of Canada’s population is rural rather than in big cities. Loved my time their but the winters were tough coming from sweltering Texas.
As someone originally from small town SK I think this is a really stand up thing to do Glen. Kudos.
Good for you Glen! We have a similar service in New Zealand using helicopters. They pick up people and fly them to hospitals for treatment.
Some of my best recipes are from cozy mysteries!
My Mom used to make chocolate chip cornflake cookies when I was little. Loved them. Can't wait to try these variations!😊 I think Hope Air is wonderful.💜 In the US....I don't even have to say a word about healthcare system.🙄
Joanne Fluke is a mystery author, btw. She writes the cozy mystery series, which often include recipes in them.
Yes, I have a whole shelf of her books. ❤
Ooh, that sounds like it'll be right up my alley!
Love her books!
The books and recipes are great.
The Hannah series! I love that series of books.
Several years ago I tried a similar recipe for choc chip cookie that had potato chips AND rice crispies, and BACON. The recipe was called "Hangover Cookies". I think I need to make it again and invite corn flakes to join the party!
Thank you for the video, and also for your fundraising efforts.
Made some of these cookies last night with Rice Krispies - they are SO delicious, and Glen is right - I froze half the dough for later.
Just seen Dylan Hollis make some with Panko in them. Soft & chrunchy at the same time. All yours sound great also, would have anyone of them 👍👍
Joanne Flukes is an awesome author
Need a recipe with all three. Seems fair.
Yum!
I never thought of using potato chips. I love to use rice crispies, with chopped macadamia nuts, coconut flakes, and white chocolate chips.
Amazing cause Glen. We have done work from them last year and it is a great foundation! Koodos to you
Here in Hawaii there is a locally baked school fundraiser brand called School Kine Cookies & one of my favorite are the butter cookies with corn flakes. I love the crunch...
Awesome that you and Julie are doing this!
I live in northern Wisconsin. I live farther north than more than half the population of Canada.
Interesting idea, putting those additions into chocolate chip cookies. Thanks and good luck with the flight.

Looks like something I need to try.

As soon as I saw the thumbnail I thought "What the f*** did this man do now???" But in a good way I got really excited lol
I never thought about adding potato chip in chocolate chip cookies! Sounds so good
Look up the famous Momofoku compost cookies. It's a good addition. Texture + salt.
@@Dark0blivionoh wow! That’s quite a medley of flavors! I’ll have to try it sometime
Trash can cookies. Whatever leftover chips you have you dunk it in the dough, add chocolate chips then bake. Just avoid the seafood flavored snacks. 😆
@@lipstickzombie4981 yeah definitely trying this next time I make cookie dough. Unfortunately I JUST made some so I’ll have to wait a bit 😂
They would be crunchy, and it would eliminate the needs to add salt.
Missed the opportunity to try all 3 in one cookie, I have honey nut cornflakes that I want to try this with.
Wonder how Raisin Bran would be like
try a mix of cornflakes, dates and crystalised ginger, yummy

Corn flake cookies are popular in Australia, we add some dried fruit 2/3 cup of sultanas although I prefer dates.
Enjoyable experiment! Hope Air is a great service.
For an alternative crunch, toasted muesli would be great!
I've been making bacon cookies (chewy dough version) along with some chocolate chip cookies this past few weeks. Yay more cookie ideas!
Umm, you need to share that recipe or, at least, give us the amount of bacon to add to our cookies.
I agree! Can you share the recipe?
I have a few of her recipes in my box. Hallmark Mysteries have made some of her books into movies. Another author of cooking mysteries is Diane Mott Davidson, full of recipes, books are a little less cozy but well done.😊
Hallmark just made her 2nd book into a movie

murder mysteries and recipes? sounds great!
Now we need a taste off of all the different Rice Krispies flavors.
I would do browned butter and pretzel bits.
Cheque is in the mail. That is an original charity and I am all for it bien sûr.

This recipe was in the book I was reading so I looked it up before considering making it. Funny to see it from a place I've used recipes from before.
I will definitely be making these in the near future.
Delightful f3 combos I will try the 3 kinds of crunchy!
I’m thinking crushed up banana chips…mmm. These sound yummy.
Tell Julie to try the Aunt Dimity mysteries by Nancy Atherton. Excellent recipes! The story is good too.
Good Morning everyone!
I have JoAnn Flukes 1st recipe book. Good eats!!!
I adore Julie’s cardigan ❤ Do you know where I can find the knitting pattern?
What about pretzels?
💯
My favourite use of corn flakes is Afghan cookies, basically a cocoa cookie with crushed flakes and topped with icing and a walnut. Nothing to do with Afganistan, but very popular in NZ.
Anzac cookies

Do all in one cookies, add more chocolate chips and peanut butter chips or Carmel chips or even health chocolate crumbs bars!
My mom has made this cookie with the corn flakes since the '70s But she always just butterscotch chips instead of chocolate ones

You should try mixing all the fixins into one cookie next time, just to see what happens!
😂😂
Donation made!
Fun! TY. 🤗
Funny, I have made, seperately, Potato Chip Cookies and a Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe with rice crispies called Joyous Chocolate Chip. Have not done pretzels though.
She’s the author of murder mystery books. The sleuth is a cookie shop owner and baker.
Try using Frosted Flakes
For anyone who's curious, the original recipe for these cookies appears in the first Hannah Swenson mystery: _Chocolate chip cookie murder_
10:44 Right on. I do Extra Life Game Day every year. :)

my [german] grandpa said corn flakes were made from ground up cigar boxes... LOL
Question, do you eat all the food you make or do you give it away? Just curious
