after over a year off the road we are back!!! previously the car made 226kw with a GMM Turbo Killer camshaft, hopefully this new combo can et us into the 11's
Good power mate, always rewarding to build something and for it go well. Get the oil leak sorted and we'll have a race for fun, but you guys should smash us with that power.
Well done, sounds strong and the smile on your face says it all, don't be a number chaser...it's a very stout Streeter and not cop bait, enjoy your ride...
Front main seal is a nuisance. While your in there powerbond 25% undriven pulley kit, maybe fit mellings high volume oil pump etc. Its time consuming and expensive but well worth it. Trunnion upgrade, beehive valve springs by PAC would do the job. You dont need double row. That knocking sound u mentioned...check the bearings in the shock towers.
To me Honestly it's not about power old commys are just beautiful cars 💙💙💙💙 i would rather a beautiful old commy thn any car thts got more power 💯💯💯💯💯💯
Mate, fabulous outcome well done again. You gotta be so proud with the result. Sit back and basking the glory for a little while those little things will be easy to fix hopefully see you at Heathcote soon
Biggest problem I had with my last Vn with a stroked out 5ltr an rain wasn't getting it dirty it was lack of traction an with the front they handle better with the swaybar link ends hooked up to the lower wishbones instead of the struts
Think I mentioned way back when. If you take the front cover off use an alignment tool to put it back on - or you will potentially screw the front seal. Tool is cheap on eBay. Are you sure you can't remove the pulley without removing the radiator? I can on a VY - replaced the pulley without removing the radiator. Was also able to replace the seal while changing the pulley without removing anything else - but alignment needs to be right, or you will just say goodbye to another seal, usually after driving for a while, not instantly. You got a really nice daily driver now.
Car sounded great on the dyno. Go all out, CNC heads with double springs and OEM LS6 inlet manifold. Those manifolds are best bang for buck for small cube LS’. The FAST manifolds are drug money. You have fresh bottom end, give it a good set of fresh heads. Good video 👍🏻
I did a vcm 7/10 cam in my old vy ss . Paul at south side heads did single comp springs on a set of heads all was fine. Western link automotive tuned it and got 283rwkw . Knowing what i know now i would have gone to frank and bolted a snail on it for the same price as a cam and heads .
One point I noticed dropping oil , you had it on stands so not all oil drained from sump , valvoline race oil high zinc all the way... Love it sounds tuff and smoove as..
Forget the intake manifold, if your looking for more power get your heads done.. manifold will give you a few kw’s, heads will give you heaps more. Surprised the PSi valve springs are giving you value float as it doesn’t sound like a big high life cam.. She’s a sweet ride though.. so stealth.
@@MindieJ true but you’d be way better off waiting and doing the heads, I assume that has a LS6 manifold and injectors and not the early LS1 one.. 👍 change over CNC heads $1299- a decent say Fast manifold will be more than that for about a 1/4 of the power gain
@@MindieJ - manifold will get you peak power higher in the rev range, ported heads will give you a broad power increase across the entire rev range. Bang for buck, its as good or better than an exhaust. Fast manifold (92mm max for an LS1 IMO) will just amplify it again. Heads will keep it looking "stock" as well.
Another manifold to look at is one fitted to the first of the vz 5.7 or early ve hsv as they are still Cath port, better than “ls6” ls1 and far cheaper then a fast manifold
throttle body and intake does restrict these a fair bit. ported heads also are a nice upgrade on the LS1. those mods would net you around 300 rwkw. Nice car , id like to see more engine mods to the beast. but where do you draw the line haha
Frank is god! #takeittofrank Melbourne? Rain? Nah surely not My VN right now is soo dirty its from all the rain and driving to the new shop everyday its really starting to kill me seeing it so dirty!

Thanks, I really enjoyed the whole process, I have seen many times cars being "tuned" like yours was but never had someone tell me what they found from the tune, keen to see how it goes when you fix the small bits and bobs, Cheers
Love the videos. Saw a few ppl on tiktok complaining in the comments. I’m just here to watch some Aussie made videos about cars without all the car politics. Keep it up man you’re a HUGE inspiration
Video is over 6 months old, it has heads now, not that the numbers on the screen really mean anything, I can run a different size tyre and have it show more power
Highly suggest getting Higgins CNC ported heads. I’ve got a VCM13 cam in my LS1 and slapped on a set of Higgins ported heads and I couldn’t believe the difference it made. Big lift cams need the airflow and the stock cast heads are the biggest killer. Probably not much cheaper than a fast intake manifold and TB setup as well. Otherwise if you do decide to get the bigger intake I’d love to see how it performs. Great vid BTW 👌
You want my fresh 241 fully rebuilt heads in a month or 2 once I pull them off to fit my 243 Higgins? New everything, has a quick DIY port job but I suggest taking them to get cnc machines and fit dual valve springs. Leaves no downtime for you car.
Congratulations man good to see it finally cracking 👌 I've got a solution to your intake problem, a pwr blower 👌 that'll fix it 🤣 Nah I think maybe diff next cause that's the next weak link.
