    @3:45 you he says "you toggle through driving modes... and the suspension either firms up or softens off accordingly and take it from us it really works".How would you know if it really works as you have a car equipped with the "Sports Suspension" which is non adjustable and doesn't respond to those buttons? Apparently you know nothing about how a car with adjustable dampening feels. Only when the car is equipped with PASM will those buttons change the suspension. Plus there would be a extra button there for PASM when it is equipped which is obviously missing. I hate seeing reviews giving false information like this.

    THIS CAR IS BETTER THAN MY 911. I test drove this, traded in my carrera S for a cayman GTS

      Which 911 did you trade it with?

    The dash buttons are not a problem once you become familiarized with them. Then you'll appreciate their well sorted placement.

    I really wanted to hate this car but after seeing one perform the highly dangerous motorway over and under taking maneuver a few days ago I was completely blown away. The change of direction was mind blowing!
    I drive a BMW Z4 it made my car look like an old banger.....dam you Porsche!

    This particular car has the analogue sport suspension instead of PASM, I wonder how it could change firmness with sport+ settings !!!!??????

    • @christianmuehlich2935
      @christianmuehlich2935 10 лет назад

      Sport+ does nothing to the X73 suspension, but it does stiffen the dynamic engine mounts which could make it feel firmer during hard cornering. However, I did not feel this effect in my Cayman GTS yet. Maybe next season when I start taking it to the track.

    I don't think this gent knows what he's talking about.
    He said his car has the PASM dampers, but when you see the buttons below the gear shift, the icon for the PASM is not there.
    That means the GTS he is driving has the Sport suspension not the active dampers which are fixed and not adjusted with the Sport and Sport-plus buttons.
    Buddy, when reviewing a car you really need to get your facts straight.

    • @AutoTraderTV
      @AutoTraderTV  10 лет назад +14

      Good spot, you know your Porsches! That particular car did indeed have the optional sports suspension, which deletes the adaptive dampers you get as standard on the GTS. However, so that our reviews are more helpful to more viewers, we always like to base them around what you get as standard on the car, rather than the nuances of the particular car in the film, with all its various optional extras - in this case, the suspension (provided we’ve experienced that suspension setup of course - which we have). Rest assured, our experience of the Cayman goes much further than just the car featured in the video, so we feel we’re in a good position to do this. Hope that helps.

      Doug Maverick Doug, does the pasm drop the car all the time, or is it something that is when in use only, lowers the vehicle. The configurator states that it reduces ride height, but it's not clear if that is ubiquitous or only when engaged. Nice point. Nice review also....the cayman gts is the poor man's 911, i' ok with that. but also could be deemed a non retarded purchase. I sat in the rear seats and I literally felt pain.

    • @mhk211071
      @mhk211071 9 лет назад +1

      +freespadersuggs it's a permanent 10mm drop. The dampers just pass an electric current through their fluid to make it more viscose. The optional sports suspension lowers the car 20mm but is unswitched.

      @MagicAyrtonforever 9 лет назад

      +Doug Maverick Which also puts into question why he says its as good as the standard Cayman.. Steering feel alone is better with the X73 Suspension. Although you can option that on the base too.. Highly unlikely you will though!

  • @bigozimak

    me thinks. better than the 911. better looking, mid engine, more practical and much cheaper.

  • @christheneutral

    but the reason they dont sell any is that these cars should really have an 8000 rpm redline so it would have useable range of 5000-8000 rpm (i talk about the base model) which is the only one i could afford
    you either make a great sports car, or make it a good sports car with the badge. that is why they don't sell any...

      Are you kidding??? The Cayman GTS is one of the most sought-after vehicles in the U.S. I had to jump through several hoops to get my allocation.

      Chris I When I test drove the Carrera S (Cabrio) it made me feel like a world class athlete... but when I drove the Cayman S (not even the GTS) it made me feel like... Spider Man. It truly is a magnificent machine. I live in Florida and there are as many Cayman's as Carerra's. I can definitely see how the 911 would be more popular in Canada; the extra weight and the Carrera 4 version should be really popular, I would think.

    • @Castlerok89
      @Castlerok89 10 лет назад +15

      I test drove the Carrera S and I preferred the Cayman. The 911 is now quite large, and you can really feel the engine waving around in the rear. The Cayman's mid-engine makes it a true pleasure to drive. After driving both, I CHOSE the Cayman GTS.

    • @christianmuehlich2935
      @christianmuehlich2935 10 лет назад +2

      Jon Castle Same for me. Saving $20k over a 911 with similar equipment was nice , but even if the 981 GTS would have been the same price I would have picked it. I now have mine for 4 months and 3500 miles and not once thought I should have picked a 991.

    • @Castlerok89
      @Castlerok89 10 лет назад +4

      Christian Muehlich I chose the Cayman so I could carry golf clubs without having to fold down the front seat and have them inside with me. Well, ok, that wasn't the only reason but it really was a factor. The rear seats of the 911 are too small for hardly anything but maybe a briefcase or luggage... so why even have it? Put the engine there instead and you don't have that "wiggle" of the rear of the car because of all that weight in the back when you power out of a curve. The 911 is getting bigger and bigger; I think the 2013 chassis was more attractive - and a tiny bit smaller. Now it looks kind of fat.

    • @MagicAyrtonforever
      @MagicAyrtonforever 10 лет назад +3

      Jon Castle That's just it.. in the 991 they have practically dialled out the rear engine feel..completely.. so why not just buy the Cayman, the engine is just behind you too which (mainly for your ears) is a bonus

    • @ZDY66666
      @ZDY66666 7 лет назад +2

      not really if you're looking at GTS. i recently purchased a brand new GTS and could have easily bought a Base 911 or a one year old S model. Simply chose not to because i liked the cayman better, it just feels more like a go cart, also the lack of differential is kinda fun. But my only problem with the car is that it feels slow (despite not being actually slow) in terms of sensation.

      LOL wait until you see the NEXT Cayman. The Cayman GT4. 400HP and outperforms almost all of the 911's except for the 911 GT3 and the 911 Turbo's. I think it bases out at about 85K but fully loaded will probably be well over $100K.

    The main problem with this and most reviews is the limited time the reviewer actually spends behind the wheel in this very special car....if you get the chance definitely get behind the wheel of one and I guarantee you won't regret it!
