Paid 32€ for it, I explicitly wrote and asked them if it is steel beforehand because another side listed it as alloy and they lied to my face about it. If I get ~12€ back it finally reached the price bracket it belongs to, more would be even better. I'm honestly a little bit disappointed that you already destroyed it just for entertainment, because I wanted to ask if it's possible to sand off the chrome and nickel plating from the case and how that would look like (my experiments with hydrochloric acid went horribly wrong). Also, and thanks to Watch Reviews 4K for that information, the movement is not just a Tongji but one integrating the magic lever system. That's at least mildly interesting and if it's not a dud I'd have kept the movement as well.
The movement indeed has magic lever, but I doubt that it is efficient, because it is not attached directly to the ratched wheel. I have watch with similar automatic winding movement and it stops at night, when not manually wound. Anyway i wouldn't smash a watch, but at least leave it on the street for someone to enjoy it.
It is crazy the span of quality you can pick up at a relatively similar price on Aliexpress. My Benyars are yet to arrive, stuck in Netherlands somewhere.

They have corrected the typo on new models but its still just the caseback and all their cases are plated alloy.Personally it doesn't bother me and many cheap and cheerful chinese brands do it . I guess it makes content but I hate seeing things that work destroyed .You could ve donated it to a charity shop and someone would ve loved it .sound like a right misery guts but I have been down on my luck before and struggling so know it would ve made somebodys Xmas .Ive still subscribed tho btw so I do like your work mate.
That finish was awesome! The biggest disappointment for me is that I have a soft spot for pagani design, and being the same company, I now don't trust their integrity as a company. I think the only way Benyar, and associated companies can come back from this, is a massive open apology, and to get their act together sharpish. They could even send previous customers of this watch a proper upgraded version. I very much doubt that will happen, but I think this brand might be toast if they don't sort it out properly.
Is there the possibility that other watches are lying about some of their specs and haven't gotten caught yet ... after all who wants to scratch their watch or one loaned to them to test it? After all some of these Aliexpress specials have prices that seem almost too good to be true for their stated specs?

Thanx for the great video. There are a lot of terrible watches out there for sale. The StarKing watch brand is talked about quite abit with some reviewer's giving them good ratings. The movements on the StarKing are shite that is for sure. It is smart to watch several reviews before buying a watch because youtubers opinions can vary.

Over the years my tastes have changed in regards of size, appearance etc but one thing hasn't. Never buy watches online especially from brands that don't have a boutique or even their own website. I see a lot of madness with several online companies/markets, people are buying from. That is not for me. I wondered the same about this after the Honest Watch review came out. I have scratched mine, it’s deffo not plated. I have questioned them several times, they same it’s 304 stainless. Obviously would prefer 316L, but It is ok for the price. And they didn’t lie on the listing since they didn’t say it was 316L
I'm done with Ali Express watches. Way too many QC issues. I've bought 2 Pagani Design watches and both have ridiculous QC issues that ruin the enjoyment of wearing them.

Not sure why you think it's tungsten bezel -it can't be.Maybe some misnomer in England?To be cheap and easy to make they'd rather used some zinc/aluminium alloy..or something.

Was there an assessment of the movement, orient does 21mm on a lot of watches, just because its chinese means its junk ? I don't mind a bigger watch and it's ok for me, but to use your channel to thrash a watch like that lacks professionalism, I think u let your popularity go to your head ..

I am not positive what my Benyar BY5174 watch case is made of I am not a Metallurgical Engineer but, the watch itself does not have any misspellings on it including “Stainless”? Maybe that all it was was an accident??

I am not sure that this "Inquisitive" end is a reasonable solution to fight Evil. Rolex sellers also smash homage watches, for the sake of so-called centuries of Swiss technology. The best punishment IMO is to avoid buying these awful brands.

Oh shit! I’ve just subscribed to your channel and then saw this review. Would you believe I bought this watch a week ago! I’ve tried to like it, but I just can’t. Now I hate it. I’ve just taken it off my wrist for good and put on my HERC Omega homage which I bought about 15 years ago. This is my go to watch which has never let me down.
benyar is more brighter display, and I love the name, it looks cool, the logo. Phylida has better bracelet and sapphire, but that sapphire looks worse. IMHO
Well hats off to an honest review. Declaring specifications that do not exist on the watch is got to be got out to us buyers. Selling a watch, in this case very cheap, but then lying about the specs, for me, they should be removed from AliExpress.
In 15 years of collecting and flipping watches, I came across on a lot of junk, but never felt the urge to destroy any. There's always people who would enjoy a lesser watch, or, if not, there's a lot of fun in modding watches. I think that destroying a watch speaks a little about yourself. Not everybody's tgv's fans
I have never felt the urge to destroy something before, but need to remember a watch is meant for pleasure and this watch was actually an insult! I did it to send a message about deceitful and poorly made products. I always commend and promote very good value watches like the cadisen c1032, or the starking AM0184. This benyar was an insult so I very rarely feel the need to express my emotions in this way. Besides, its all just a bit of fun. Thanks for watching!
You know, give yourself more credit. I remember in the review for the Benyar that you noticed that the bracelet and the watch were made of different materials, you figured a different grade of steel. Also I strongly advise you to not be superstitious, just be a little stitious.
That starking really is dog 💩 but I stand by the banyar isn’t that bad getting past the terrible sainless issue it’s a decent watch. Both of mine came with no qc issues at all and for only £25!
'Sainless steel'... you're reading too much into it. English words on the dial and the case back are just decoration to the Chinese. Don't expect them to actually be waterproof etc

Well done, I was pleasantly surprised with the ending here. You know, there just aren’t enough videos online of people destroying or abusing watches. Whether dramatically as You have have justifiably done or with more conventional use. Honestly I would really enjoy more examples of this, not necessarily always with a hammer though. Fire is nice too.. Anyway, great video.
Thing is... 'Phylida' sounds like it's some kind of nasty STD, lol. xD 'Benyar' sounds like some Hungarian brute who eats a lot and smashes things, so that's not a whole lot better, but their little logo just exudes something refined and classy. More brands should just stick to a little logo rather than a written out one, because in most cases it just doesn't work. San Martin is doing it now. Brands like Starking and Cadisen already have a little logo, but they haven't gotten rid of the written out name yet. Escapement Time make gorgeous pieces, but that written logo in that typeface is hideous!
Surely the takeaway from this is that you are not going to get a really nice watch for under around £60. I've tried a good few times and there's always an unacceptable compromise that keeps the cheap watches in the box and not on the wrist. Also, any real experience with buying from Ali will tell you that "buyer beware" has to be the first rule and that misleading information is rife as is initial pricing that turns out only to be for a strap when the ad appears to be for a watch. I wonder if your hammering Benyar is actually retribution for a greater problem: trawling watches on Ali rather than carefully assessing each before buying fewer, more considered pieces. Perhaps a spot of fly fishing for watches will lead to a better catch?

Interesting. Can you prove its not stainless steel? Because it looks to me like you just smashed a steel case to bits. That wasnt chromed and must be some seriously good quality alloy. I've seen many claim Benyars false claims, but no one has proved there not steel. You may have just proved they are.

A very nice watch. I just thought that I did not know something about the material that makes it somehow inferior.. A watch with Japanese movement with sapphire and real steel case and bracelet does not, IMHO, deserve to be compared to that Benyar crap :) I actually have a Benyar also, the skeleton one in the Radiomir style case. Also has non steel case, but somehow I like it for what it is.
Ok for displaying the differences between a good homage and a junk watch. But you could avoid the last part of the video where you distroy the watch. Very bad touch
I have a better idea for 2021. Why don't you show the difference between a junk PVD coated base metal watch and a properly machined solid stainless steel one? Show it in macro detail when looking at the reflexion of the sides. On top of that, do the scratch test on a PVD coated watch and show what's underneath the coating before you smash the watch with a hammer. When you do that, you will be the first channel to do that. Isn't that a great tip to upgrade your channel?
And don't exclude cheaper Seiko watches from doing PVD coated base metal ptessed cases. I have a couple that look very suspicious but I didn't test them ( yet).

Well hats off to an honest review. Declaring specifications that do not exist on the watch is got to be got out to us buyers. Selling a watch, in this case very cheap, but then lying about the specs, for me, they should be removed from AliExpress.

In 15 years of collecting and flipping watches, I came across on a lot of junk, but never felt the urge to destroy any. There's always people who would enjoy a lesser watch, or, if not, there's a lot of fun in modding watches.
I think that destroying a watch speaks a little about yourself. Not everybody's tgv's fans
I have never felt the urge to destroy something before, but need to remember a watch is meant for pleasure and this watch was actually an insult! I did it to send a message about deceitful and poorly made products.
I always commend and promote very good value watches like the cadisen c1032, or the starking AM0184. This benyar was an insult so I very rarely feel the need to express my emotions in this way. Besides, its all just a bit of fun. Thanks for watching!

You know, give yourself more credit. I remember in the review for the Benyar that you noticed that the bracelet and the watch were made of different materials, you figured a different grade of steel.
Also I strongly advise you to not be superstitious, just be a little stitious.

That starking really is dog 💩 but I stand by the banyar isn’t that bad getting past the terrible sainless issue it’s a decent watch. Both of mine came with no qc issues at all and for only £25!
'Sainless steel'... you're reading too much into it. English words on the dial and the case back are just decoration to the Chinese. Don't expect them to actually be waterproof etc

Well done, I was pleasantly surprised with the ending here. You know, there just aren’t enough videos online of people destroying or abusing watches. Whether dramatically as You have have justifiably done or with more conventional use. Honestly I would really enjoy more examples of this, not necessarily always with a hammer though. Fire is nice too.. Anyway, great video.

Thing is... 'Phylida' sounds like it's some kind of nasty STD, lol. xD
'Benyar' sounds like some Hungarian brute who eats a lot and smashes things, so that's not a whole lot better, but their little logo just exudes something refined and classy. More brands should just stick to a little logo rather than a written out one, because in most cases it just doesn't work. San Martin is doing it now. Brands like Starking and Cadisen already have a little logo, but they haven't gotten rid of the written out name yet. Escapement Time make gorgeous pieces, but that written logo in that typeface is hideous!
Surely the takeaway from this is that you are not going to get a really nice watch for under around £60. I've tried a good few times and there's always an unacceptable compromise that keeps the cheap watches in the box and not on the wrist. Also, any real experience with buying from Ali will tell you that "buyer beware" has to be the first rule and that misleading information is rife as is initial pricing that turns out only to be for a strap when the ad appears to be for a watch. I wonder if your hammering Benyar is actually retribution for a greater problem: trawling watches on Ali rather than carefully assessing each before buying fewer, more considered pieces. Perhaps a spot of fly fishing for watches will lead to a better catch?

Interesting. Can you prove its not stainless steel? Because it looks to me like you just smashed a steel case to bits. That wasnt chromed and must be some seriously good quality alloy. I've seen many claim Benyars false claims, but no one has proved there not steel. You may have just proved they are.

A very nice watch. I just thought that I did not know something about the material that makes it somehow inferior.. A watch with Japanese movement with sapphire and real steel case and bracelet does not, IMHO, deserve to be compared to that Benyar crap :) I actually have a Benyar also, the skeleton one in the Radiomir style case. Also has non steel case, but somehow I like it for what it is.
I would never buy a watch if it couldn't provide me with the protection from evil;-)))))

I have a better idea for 2021. Why don't you show the difference between a junk PVD coated base metal watch and a properly machined solid stainless steel one? Show it in macro detail when looking at the reflexion of the sides. On top of that, do the scratch test on a PVD coated watch and show what's underneath the coating before you smash the watch with a hammer. When you do that, you will be the first channel to do that. Isn't that a great tip to upgrade your channel?
