The one question I’m left with, and I understand it is outside the scope of this particular presentation, is “which AI?” As you most likely know better than I, not all generative AI are equivalent; neither the algorithm nor the data sets. e.g., What happens when the courts use an early fork of Meta’s (with early attempts at filtering datasets for bias) but the DA’s office used the latest “chatGPT for Lawyers 3.1?” IOW, how does society reconcile the use of various incarnations of gen AI in politics, law & economy?
What Bruce is missing is who's owning the ai-engines - and so thinking that it sneaks into our lives from the bottom-up - rather than the top down - how are the ai-platforms shaping the access to ai - monopoly rent-seeking - these basic new forms of internet software infrastructure are all private profit-seeking platforms - we need to think about the public ownership-regulation of this infrastructure .
It's always refreshing and insightful to listen to Bruce.
