Currently 12 in the morning in my place, questioning my life choices more specifically whether or not I'm in the right degree programme but I'll take this as a sign that IT really is for me, sometimes it just gets really frustrating but that isn't and shouldn't be a reason to give up 😭
Wonderful to hear the other side of IT. Not everyone is cracked up for this career path. I'm anti social until it comes to work, I cam work with just about anyone once it comes to getting the task accomplished. I've been in IT officially for a year now and there is no going back

It was Microsoft behind it all the time.i had a chat with them and within minutes I had my computer running again.my hardrive wasn’t the problem like I had thought.I upgraded to a ssd and now for and old pc it runs much faster.yay!😁later I plan to build my own pc gamer with the liquid cooling.once again thanks..

@@EastCharmer I think what Microsoft was doing was on my particular factory dell,because all pcs will be effected differently. some even when you install the os will boot fine but they didn’t want to activate my windows and I believe it’s a Microsoft update responsible for that.how I know because I reinstall windows again but with the Ethernet cable unplug on my dell and it would boot up but the screen was shrunk because it was missing the graphics drivers windows normally supplies.but the minute I plug back the Rj 45 cable into my pc it just froze and I had to turn it off manually press power and the os didn’t want to load and I had a blank screen once again.and in one troubleshooting occasion windows send me a notification saying and update is preventing my computer from loading windows.i think it’s an activation issue Microsoft would not let me load windows.but once I contacted them they allow the activation. That’s why we as IT techs sometimes we have to solve complex problems.😀and yes building your own pc could be expensive but I was thinking of applying for a micro center credit card cuz I could take advantage of the bundles they put out which includes motherboard,memory,and cpu.but storage drive and graphics card sold separately.once again thanks..East charmer for another great video.😀
In the IT industry, what happens if you get a high priority ticket on a Friday afternoon, lets say 15 minutes before you clock out for the week to start your weekend. Do you coordinate with an "on-call" IT tech to hand off the ticket? Or do you work that high priority ticket until it is resolved?
It depends on your team and company. 15 min still means you're on the clock and have to take the high priority but it's up to you and the on-call if you'll resolve it or just escalate it that person.
These days, there's a noticeable gap among new graduates in terms of both technical prowess and interpersonal skills. It's essential to recognize the significance of soft skills. Communication skills, in particular, are paramount. Many new graduates entering the IT field mistakenly believe it revolves solely around solitary computer work. However, they overlook the vital aspect of effectively communicating with end users to diagnose issues. Asking open-ended questions is crucial in this regard. For instance, when facing a user with internet connection problems, it's ineffective to immediately inquire about technical commands like DNS flush or resetting settings. Instead, engaging in a dialogue to understand the issue's context and symptoms is essential for accurate troubleshooting. The DNS Flush happend in real life with a trainee I was working it. 🤣🤣
yeah I agree. Soft skills are equally important as technical skills and many are just focusing on technical. Oh yeah, the user probably doesn't know all those tech terms too.

I agree with everything. But if you arent comfortable working as a team than maybe working as a whole isn't for you because about 95 percent of jobs out there required team work or some sort of collab between teams and people.
I went into network engineering so I can reach the investigation field, I really hate doing technical work and troubleshooting computers for example, I'm currently doing that since I just got out of university and it's my first job in IT and yeah it's frustrating to fix so many problems that if only those who have it knew how to fix it themselves (since the problems are always super super easy to fix) but I plan to move quickly to a field of investigation or project management, AI and cibersecurity, I can't stand the technical part
@@EastCharmer it is, it does require much more responsability, but it'll be worth in the long run, fiber optic research or AI will be my top goal, we all have to go through technical, for now it's a pain in the ass cuz I literally have to learn things on my own (I'm the only technician)
I would add being able to be flexible with your work hours. Being open to work anytime, 24/7. A server needs after hours work happens from time to time.

No I hope you're kidding. One skill on one thing is just narrow minded and just pure bad for your brain? Ever heard of Novell? There used to be PC admins back 30 years ago that one person did multiple things. It's Microsoft and Cisco worlds that ruined IS and IT to just have rigid with one skill asking to make 6 figures. It's not a speciality. It's Look At Me With My Narrow Brain on a One Vendor and One Vendor's Only Way of Doing Things.

Depends on the issue and organization, some issues may require escalation to other IT teams
