Alexander the Great was the greatest ‘Military’ general of all time, but not as a great administrator of his own empire. He had hypothetical paranoia about death and his fear of possible assassination. That caused him to kill his right hand general, Parmenion, a son of his, and a friend, Cleitus. In his journey to India, many rebellious soldiers attempted to turn against him, but managed to subdue them and promised to have a lucrative journey to India. He was thirsty for glory and fame brought by conquest and war. Imagine the Hellenistic Empire of Alexander III if he didn’t die too early just because of allegedly cause of death, ‘Malaria’, and some theorized it, a poison which he got from the arrow that punctured through his lungs at the battle of Hydaspes. If you want successful Military General, look at Alexander, if you want to look at the best Military strategist, look at Napoleon. But if you want to see them both, look at Gaius Julius Caesar.
Anong hindi great administrator? He secured his throne after a tenacious power struggle with his relatives and a power-sharing agreement with his father's top lieutenants (Antipater and Parmenion).
His father had left the state coffers bankrupt. So, he had to operate in a deficit during his initial campaign to re-assert his authority over rebellious territories. From his march to Thessaly and then to Southern Greece, and then to the territories up to the Danube River, and back to Southern Greece, Alexader had shown remarkable administrative skills in coordinating his army's movement and logistics. That's Alexander, in his 20s, demonstrating the grit and determination of a skilled 40-year-old general. Tell me any other general in history in his early 20s displaying this level of operational awareness and organizational skill.
His "strategy" of denying the Persian navy ports in Medittereniean was more successful than Napoleon's "Continental" system of depriving Britain of any trade routes throughout Europe, which, btw, was circumvented by many of Napoleon's allies and even marshalls. Alexander was at least successful in causing massive defection in the Persian Navy through his strategy.
Alexander had predated Napoleon by 2,000 years in his use of self-sustained miniature armies that closely coordinated with each other (the corps system). His use of the pseudo-corps system was perfectly demonstrated in his campaigns in Sogdiana, Aria, Bactria, Cophen Valley, and the Mallians.
While there is some grain of truth regarding paranoia towards Parmenion, the fears of Alexander were justified given previous assassinations of past Macedonian monarchs. And it wasn't until Parmenion's son, Philotas, confessed to the involvement of his father in an assassination plot that Alexander finally relented to his close confidante's suggestion to get Parmenion along with his son killed.
Alexander had flaws, but you are selling him short.

You forgot to mention Antigonus I Monophthalmus, he was one of the major sucessors of Alexander after his death, and he was also one of alexander's generals. In short words alexander had 5 major Sucessors (Lysimachus, Cassander, Antigonus,Ptolemy,and Seleucus) and 3 permanent Sucessors (Antigonid Macedon, Seleucid Empire, Ptolemaic Egypt)
