I'm ready to pick up in a few weeks if it is still has it. 98 2door 2wd 2.4L 5 speed blue xj with 98% rust free under side. small spot on the uni-frame back where the bump stop is. i have a 96 country xj im putting all new floor pans and major frame repair.
They are pretty reliable engines, last forever even if they are running horribly, they have good torque too and can crawl anything with the right gear ratio and tire, only problem with them is that they only have 120 hp. 4.0 liters on the other hand are pretty much the same deal except you can definitely feel that power and torque increase
@@md_randoms2429can you plz help me decide if I should buy one or not it’s a 4cyl standard with 4x4 I plan on keeping it stock no big tires or anything but I’m a bit scared abt that small engine lol guys asking $3500?and has 199k miles any thoughts and thanks
@@CarsTrucksBuses Im lookin for my next XJ as I've owned 16 and all where 4.0. Only downfall I see is the Ax-5 as They aren't a strong Trans. Im lookin at one right now about 4 hours away that is nice and RUST FREE but the 2.5 Ehhhhhh Im iffy about it. Ive driven them in YJ and TJs and they are Gutless Turds. Constantly shifting from 5th to 4th to 3rd at every stupid hill. Benefits though 4:10 Gears and a little bit better Mpg. Downfall Ax-5 lack of Power. Good for Crawlin not good for Muddin wheel speed is key. BUUUUUT Im intrigued because out of the 16 XJs Ive owned Never had one. Im just lookin at a Clean rust Free XJ and I can always swap a 4.0 in it. Just swap engine Harnness and EcU. That shit is easy for me as Im a Auto Mechanic by trade and I've done two dozen or so engine R and R on XJs TJs YJs ZJs. There is Nothing like a 4.0 my favorite years and I usually ONLY get 92-96 because I like the H.O engines and they got the 7012 head rather than the junk head.
@@Mr.XJ.96 I’m thinking about getting a 2.5 with a bottom end knock. I’ve built a 4.0 before so I’m might just swap one in. How hard do you think the harness & ecu will be for my first time swapping?
Hell yeah bro. Might be getting one soon that’s the base model 2 door 4wd. Can’t wait to work with it!
Wow, base model, never seen one of these.
Thanks for the video, Pat.
i realize it is kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to stream new tv shows online?
@Brecken Alejandro Try FlixZone. Just google for it :)

I see your Cherokee forum link in the description. For about a year the Cherokee forum site has been crashing every time I try to read a blog

I love the video, im considering a 94xj with the 2.5 5speed manual transmission, but do you recommend it over the 4.0? thanks man

@@markortiz8199 should be ok reliability wise if it’s running good already and has a history of running good. It will be pretty slow though
@@md_randoms2429 thanks man I’ll stick w the 4.0 lol godbless
