It's hilarious that Sixty Years of Research and Development has finally caught up to compete along side a Volkswagen based rail. Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was an Absolute Genius!
WOW! Ten's of Hundreds VS Ten's of Thousands. This is a no brainer to me, And yes, I understand a Rock Bouncer will pull more POONANNY than the cheap OLD Rail But, Doing it with 2 wheel drive says something more inspiring to me cause It's the underdog in me that thinks it has more meaning I suppose.
+HeyDude93gt i didnt see a single woman in any of those Rigs. I say the Rail buggies are WAY COOLER and was more impressive. Those Buggies should put Balloons on the top of their cab with the Name of each Rock Bouncer and POP'em as they go up, showing them UP. LMAO. 60year old tech, kick'n ass.
The rock bouncers are just to heavy. They fight their own weight. The 2wd VW powered buggies are making a major statement when it comes to keeping it light and simple.
The weight difference must be in the hundreds of pounds? The RWD Rails don't have front tires throwing all that loose dirt for the rears trying to get as much forward bite as possible. Then there's that turn-brake on at least some of the Rails. Anyone know if any bouncers have turn-brakes?
this should have way more likes....... wtf!..... I like every video I see,..... just to thank him for posting all these awesome video clips... for free!
Yeah, those buggys' rear drive wheels are planted on terra firma like almost all the time. They weigh prolly a 1000+ pounds less than the big machines, but a huge portion of the weight is on the rear. I think Hollingsworth's and Cameron's are DESIGNED accordingly to keep the wheels planted better than a lot of the others, and the tires they use just have such superb forward and side bite (side bite with the wheels spinnning-that's a big deal) - horsepower to the ground not windmilling so much!
2:00 nice video, thats a hell of a hill. most of these vids i think to myself, "yea, my stock tacoma can do that" until you get a nice reference of just how steap these hills are.
too each there own but i like how the 4 bangers shame the v8s the setup matters more than you think the rails seem to make look easy well the ones who do properly cant believe the 3rd one wheelied up the top
Did this take place on the 5th? I was at rush for their rail buggies vs bouncers and Jamie Whitaker was there....he's also in this video(35 seconds into the vid) lol....????
+redlinemotorsportts yeah a lot of the rail buggy guys backed out once they got to the event and seen the hill. only 3 would hit it and like 12 backed out or something like that
I know this is a noob comment but I hope to one day get to build my own sand rail or rock bouncer and I'm really curious as to what engines I'm looking at here in these buggies? Like are most of these v6 and v8s or like were a few just 4 cylinder vws? Like any of these 1900cc or 2000cc engines?
my sand rail would go anywere you could take it to the trials then drive it home on the streets if you look threw my videos there is one of it going threw a pond. that weekend 2 jeeps and a scout got stuck in the same pond lol , ended up ripping the rear skid plate off. nice video the rock climbers are more geared toward climbing big boulders.
Back in the 70's I was into 4X4's my buddy built a rail buggy with turning brakes, I think he could go anywhere I went, except faster, his front end didn't beat itself to pieces like mine.
Buggy have engines in rear, adds weight to tires in rear, Rockcrawlersgot engine in front ,.. Less weight in rear ,less hook up.. I luv driving them though.. Good video..
To the casual fan it's all about the machinery, and not so much the driver, great sport to have so many different classes on the same hill, spiked tyres look dangerous, i wonder if he or she kept the revs low incase one came lose and killed someone !!!!! the winner looked like a hybrid lovechild of sandrail/ bouncer !!!
Definitely takes more skill for the dune buggy I had one but i could not climb the same hills as I did in my 4x4 so I sold it but looking back it was possibly all driver error and lack of turning brakes
I honestly can't imagine a 2 wheel drive rail trying to climb a vertical wall?? It would be like watching a bird trying to walk up a wall ???? HUMMM??? It's just 2 different sports.
It's hilarious that Sixty Years of Research and Development has finally caught up to compete along side a Volkswagen based rail.

law of diminishing returns.
Jerry, your theory must add some weight to the argument.
@@philemmert4889 i hope thats a pun.
@@jerrybear3081 please show me the pun, I definetly didn't try to.

Now I want a rail buggy. Sweet
When your in the dirt, I really like agg tires. there is a reason tractors have used that tread design to plow fields for over 100 years .
Got to love an old school rail buggy.

Looks like the higher HP bouncers over powered the hill more then anything. Both machines are impressive in there own rights
Seems like the rails do pretty well in this particular type conditions.
Great video! Rail buggies are impressive!
+EXTREME SCALE PERFORMANCE RC thanks, and yeah the drivers have mad skills
Rail buggies are great climbers! I'm going to build one soon!
EXTREME SCALE PERFORMANCE RC y
2:00 nice video, thats a hell of a hill. most of these vids i think to myself, "yea, my stock tacoma can do that" until you get a nice reference of just how steap these hills are.
I think the bouncer at 5:48 was the only propane powered one in the mix.
6:05 Are those just big boy studds?
I love the big guys but it's nice to see this mix of badass stuff run up that huge hill!
How about a 4wd rear engine mount ? Best of both worlds ?
few of those out there nowadays and they are legit
2:35 that rzr is eating the hill 😎
Damn...I'd be scared to drive a couple of those rigs
+rekjavicxxx No... Stop it.
Very interesting, but are the results listed anywhere?
+Nick Robson I have the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place guys labeled in this video. I never saw an official results list
Hey MadRam11, that's some good audio and video quality. What camera are you using?
Ahhh a refreshing non V8 engine sound for a change!!
rails seemed to kick ass
too each there own but i like how the 4 bangers shame the v8s the setup matters more than you think the rails seem to make look easy well the ones who do properly cant believe the 3rd one wheelied up the top
these videos are sick! I want to see more rig detruction!!
Cool vid Madram11... it's interesting to see how they compare, and I agree about the winner looking like a 4WD rail... that thing sure looked light!
+Jim1457a Yeah I consider it a rail buggy but it was put in the bouncer class
Did this take place on the 5th? I was at rush for their rail buggies vs bouncers and Jamie Whitaker was there....he's also in this video(35 seconds into the vid) lol....????
+Garry Bailey yeah this took place the weekend before
Couldent y'all build a rail for near what a set of shox&springs cost on a rock bouncer!?
the bouncer at the 5 minute mark what type of back tires is he running
+garrettpollard54 Goodyear Turf tires that have been grooved
+MadRam11 they look bad ass
That red buggy around 2:00 is so mean sounding and looking
Do those smaller ones have vw engines?
yes
Some of them hills are spooky tall. I can see getting to the top and cartwheeling all the way down. Gotta commit
+redlinemotorsportts yeah a lot of the rail buggy guys backed out once they got to the event and seen the hill. only 3 would hit it and like 12 backed out or something like that
+MadRam11 How long is that hill anyway? And damn it looks steep!!
Old style sand rails did well
my sand rail would go anywere you could take it to the trials then drive it home on the streets if you look threw my videos there is one of it going threw a pond. that weekend 2 jeeps and a scout got stuck in the same pond lol , ended up ripping the rear skid plate off. nice video the rock climbers are more geared toward climbing big boulders.
Funny, prolly no pics or video to prove it though,
9 out of 10 rock bouncers need softer springs and or more rebound in the suspension
+Dan Henderson I agree, but they are getting better every year
Does anybody know what kind of engine that 1st one has? It sounds like some sort of 6 cylinder turbo
+dacasman Subaru with a turbo
+MadRam11 You sure? at around :23 seconds it looks like a v6 of some sort.
+dacasman It's a Chevy V6 probably a 4.3L and yes with a turbo or two.
+BigEsGarage I think madram was referring to the 1st place winner: the red subie powered one. Not the first one in the video.
+Alexander Helton
Makes sense, thanks.
What kind of motors do the rail buggys have?
most run some type of VW
MadRam11 like 1600cc's?
Tyson676 noooo like 1968s to 2500s (1968cc not the year)
Platinum ok thanks
Tyson676 your welcome
Back in the 70's I was into 4X4's my buddy built a rail buggy with turning brakes, I think he could go anywhere I went, except faster, his front end didn't beat itself to pieces like mine.
Harlan county KY?
yes
MadRam11 cool I'm from laurel county about 45 minutes west of you
I'd rather roll down that hill in one of the rock bouncers, but those rails are light on their feet.
were was this at ?
+Rogue 4265 Harlan Kentucky, black mtn
hell yea man i just live in hazard
Do someone knows the price for one of this monster.
Bouncers can be 50-100k.. Rail buggies are hit or miss but a complete one could be 1500.
6:10 easy does it
and nothing is better than free!
Mujhe laga ye video 5 days pahle upload hua hai , dhag se dekha to 5 years ago likha tha 😂
Cool I knew my VW rail climbed good but didn't know they'd do this good against a machine like these
Buggy have engines in rear, adds weight to tires in rear, Rockcrawlersgot engine in front ,.. Less weight in rear ,less hook up.. I luv driving them though.. Good video..
4:39... slams into kill mode
2wd buggies take the day. Wow.
+dan katla sharpe Those bolts aren't coming out. They have washers on the inside and outside and are welded, they may look dangerous but they aren't.
MadRam11 off the shelf or homemade?
Yep...Don't underestimate a 1000lb rail powered by a VW four banger
@140............That wheelie though!!!!!!!!
a rail buggy looks like it would knock you over. a rock buggy looks like it will eat you.
pretty boss for being 2 wheel drive lol
These guys probably change air filters in these every 5 minutes.
Definitely takes more skill for the dune buggy I had one but i could not climb the same hills as I did in my 4x4 so I sold it but looking back it was possibly all driver error and lack of turning brakes
Kick ass kentuckians
boys and ther big toys :) . Damn fine machines though :) .
as gaiolas com motor traseiro sobe fácil. ..kkkkk
Fintime Game BR aqui kkk 2018
i have a 4g63t i wanna drop in a rail buggy..
Awesome
Parece que jalan más duro los motores de vw
I honestly can't imagine a 2 wheel drive rail trying to climb a vertical wall??
