When you hook up the compressor with your piping to run it to different rooms make sure your low spots have a cap and chain valve on them so you can drain the condensation out of the lines. If your using compressed air on pc parts the last thing you want is a burst of water. Make sure to dump the water out on some sort of schedule as well. I know it might sound dumb but nobody ever drains them if they don't have a maintenance schedule. If you leave condensation in the compressors it can cause them to rot out from the inside as well.

The thing I love about Alex is that they only ever say that he has some engineering background, when what they really mean is that he went to college for engineering for like a semester, decided to change major, and just likes to have fun with it.
Give Alex cred for being a workshop connoisseur! Your lucky to have him on your team.
Linus: How much did this cost?
Alex: You might want to do that sponsor segue now.
... segway.
@@ir-dan8524 Nope: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Segue
@@ir-dan8524 yeah funny that. From webster: "Segue is sometimes confused with Segway. Segue is a verb that means "to move without stopping from one topic, song, etc., to another." Segway, on the other hand, is a trademarked name for an electric transportation device."
Well, looks like suicide is the only reasonable option now. Brb.
Don't use the bandsaw for both wood and aluminum - stick to one. Flying luminum specks can ignite sawdust in the vent system.
you can use both if u clean the vent system enough

FWIW Linus, an old legit Bridgeport is worth well more than a new Chineseium machine. The rigidity that it has makes for an incredibly competent machine. My surface grinder was made in the 50's, weighs 3500lbs and will grind parts flatter than any new machine that isn't ridiculously expensive. SERIOUSLY good machine tool picks by your boy here!
Also the compressor's physical size is down to the tank capacity. What they recommended was more about the scfm at 90psi. Basically having a compressor that delivers more air than you need is always a good idea. Less stress on the compressor and it should lead to less moisture in the lines. Regardless a quality aftercooler is a good idea to cut down on condensation building up in the lines.
Also the Mitutoyo test indicator is fantastic! I have the same one but mine is .0001 not .001 for a different application. You will end up with many, many more. Heads up, if you can find older Starrett metrology tools they are fantastic, but for new ones I would stick to Mitutoyo. Most new Starrett products are Chinese made and are not quite as good as their older USA made counterparts or Japanese Mitutoyo.
Also a new Bridgeport series 1 is $18,000 (US) so this was definitely the best option.
Also, new mills of decent quality can are easily 20k or 6 digit pricing if it's CNC.
Even a clapped out Bridgeport milling machine is pretty nice!
A good excuse for the giant air tank is for filming. You don't want the compressor kicking in every five minutes while you're recording.
I'm almost sure that indicator is accurate to either five tenths or one tenths, I don't think mitutoyo makes indicators to the thousands.
The only thing I don't like about that mill is it's accurate down to two hundred thousand, thats seriously inaccurate, but just like the people at my shop, you can get it as accurate as you could reasonably ask for, it'll just take more time.
@16:46 LMG now needs the whole range of AvE warning stickers. Such classics as "Engage Safety Squints" and "Danger Do Not Touch! Not Only Will This Kill You, It Will Hurt The Whole Time You Are Dying"
That would be fun
Also: danger do not drop...
Was looking for someone who noticed they were missing! Linus picked up a lot of AvE speak lately, and since he doesn't know what a bridgeport is, i assumed Alex was the one passing the lingo on, and thus EXPECTED to see AvE stickers in this lot!
Keep Dennis far away from the workshop.

Lol right now I am at level 2: screwdrivers, cheap (but decent) soldering station, dremel.
Old metal working machines were built so robustly that they will likely outlive your entire family tree if they aren't purposely destroyed or neglected.
Even then, a few replacement parts and they'll run another century
Being at LTT neglect is a feasible possibility
Unless Linus drops it...
Some of them might even kill a family-member or two.
and alex realizes that the more money he gets linus to invest in him, the more reason linus has to keep him
edit: thanks for likes hehe i hope linus sees this
Not true. Once you have the equipment it's yours. You can always find someone who knows how to use it.
It's cheaper to keep someone you know and someone that's familiar with the job. Someone that's as hard-working as Alex or, on that matter - anyone from the LMG team doesn't give Linus a ton of reasons to fire him/her.
*Unless you're Colton.*

Engineers are problem solvers, you know when you ain't got the tool you make it, or know other ways.
From a engineering background, when people talk about xyz you kinda know and when someone say or calls wrong, it stands out.
I think most things can be built with a mill a lathe and manual press and a cutting bench and for clean finishes a tig.
If your using "rods" you may be doing it all wrong, a tip is all you need, and a clean cut and good design ;)
I predict that there are going to be changes soon...
