When Imperial China was overthrown, so were 2000 years of morals, decency and culture of the Chinese people. If only the Xinhai Revolution had never happened, and the Qing Dynasty had just been left alone, China would never have become a fragmented mess, Japan never would have occupied China, and they would have a constitutional monarchy today. Sometimes regime change seems like the obvious solution, but you've got to look at the big picture before any radical actions are taken. I for one wish they still had an emperor and a Confucian meritocracy in China, like in old days.
By the end of the Qing dynasty, China was already weak and occupied by foreign powers. The people were living in poverty and humiliation, so even in your best case scenario a new dynasty would have to replace Qing and modernize the country.
