@@davidsalo8397 glad that you are enjoying it as well! I love mine. Best purchase I’ve made for this bike since I got it. Can’t wait to get some more riding time in this year
Wello, Robert/ Bob here. I could not agree more. I have a 2019 450L. Bought my Athena, G.E.T. ecu from Taco Moto and I feel that this purchase was the best decision I could have made for the bike. Burlington, Ontario Canada.
I owned a 22 450RL and sold it. I put in an aftermarket ECU and it had plenty of power and ran great. The only bad thing is, it’s 70-80lbs to heavy. Otherwise I would have kept it. Bought a KTM 350 EXCF and never looked back. I did have to put a Vortex in to make it run good and there is the deal with any modern 4 stroke, they need a new ECU due to emissions.
Dang it I think Im going to have to buy the GET!! What kind of mileage are you getting now? Im getting about 50mpg in Colorado on the stock bike. Some people said their mileage got better.
No on the 4 bolts, even though thats probably something I would do 😅 Subscriber from your other channel, I ride cruisers but I'll be following to learn. 🤘🤘🤘
I’m the absolute worst about stuff like that. I can’t leave anything alone! Maybe after more important upgrades are done I’ll dabble into the titanium bolt world haha! Really appreciate you coming over to this one man. Means more than you know.
If you got money and you like those bolts, then buy them. If $60 is money you'd rather save, or care to save, then dont. Also, you need the 12 oclock labs tail tidy!
It probably would as the bike is very lean from the factory but I did the ecu which has been mapped to add more fuel and makes the bike run cooler. My fan rarely kicks on now when most of my friends bikes fans are on.
I also have a 450rl and after spending thousands to “fix” the terrible characteristics, it is only slightly better. Vortex ECU, full Graves exhaust, tires and tubes, throttle tamer, revalved shocks and it’s still far worse than my all stock 2024 KTM 300xcw. Just go with an Austrian bike from the beginning. The 450rl is still only decent on the road and it’s not a good road bike. I love Honda but the rl is just good to look at, but not to ride-sadly.
Hate you had that experience with it. I absolutely love mine. It feels very much like the R models I have had. Definitely plan to do suspension soon as I’m a little heavy for stock. They say it’s better for road like you said but I’m building mine mostly for dirt. My only experience with Austrian bike ownership was a KTM690SMC. Amazing bike no complaints. I knew I’d be putting several thousand into upgrading either bike and the Honda was 3k cheaper than the KTM 500 I was looking at. Plus Hondas reliability was hard to beat.
Thats unfortunate. I have a 23 CRF450RL with a yoshi full exhaust, open air box, Athena GET ECU with switch and wificom. It has completely changed the bike for the better. Night and day difference. I got my ECU from Taco Moto as well. I can’t find a complaint with the bike anymore. I just rolled over 3600 miles on it and the only gripe is that the rear tire is gone and the chain has been finicky. Lol
Mike has good products and fast shipping. Customer service is trash unfortunately. He doesn't answer the phone and only replies in non descriptive sentence fragments via email or text. TPI does all the tuning on my KTM for that reason.

I have the Yoshi full exhaust + vortex ECU and emissions delete with other mods. Bike runs amazing now.
AHM has the ticket on suspension for these bikes. I love the CRF450RL. Highly underrated bike.
I love it too. Waiting for the SX-1 to get shipped. The only problem is the jerky throttle.
@@davidsalo8397 the sx-1 will clear the jerky throttle up. It made my bike run like a completely different beast. 110% improvement
Yes! The SX-1 ECU is top shelf! Runs super!

I've read how the vortex ecu really knocks the fuel mileage down. What kind of mpg are y'all getting from this one?
Hell of a start! Looking forward to following your build.
Appreciate it. Filmed another video last night with another pretty big upgrade!

You should have put the Graves blocking plate on. Makes a real difference.
A throttle tamer is another good option to help with a super sensitive throttle if people can’t spend the $ on a ecu.
For sure! I’ve even seen guys make their own by grinding out a channel in the factory throttle cam.
Also you need to come ride this thing. I think you like it.
Throttle tamer doesn't work that well, it's an improvement but hardly a fix. Ecu is the only way
Dang it I think Im going to have to buy the GET!! What kind of mileage are you getting now? Im getting about 50mpg in Colorado on the stock bike. Some people said their mileage got better.
Would adding a throttle tamer help in conjunction with the SX-1?
Oh absolutely it would. Some guys have made their own. I've done it on my pit bike but haven't attempted it on the RL. I'll likely just buy one.
No on the 4 bolts, even though thats probably something I would do 😅

I would totally change out the 4 bolts.
yes ... don't waste money.. use the stock bolts in my opinion. You can use the money on performance wise upgrade.
Will this exhaust fit on a 2024?
Yes.
I’m putting the big bore on my 450x already lol did the pipe the ecu and cam porting and milled head like a year ago
2022
Thats a beast! I absolutely love the X. Maybe if things go well I could add one to the garage. I'd also like to have an older XR650!
@@throttleblipmetric ya I now have full fmf vortex from twisted ported head cam and milled head and 480 big bore

I ended up going with Source Offroad and did their 450X kit as I don't plan on putting any luggage on the bike.
Does the new header pipe get your shin hot like the factory header does on mine?
