Man I hate installing mods on bike once but you put them on and take them off repeatedly for these tests. I appreciate your time and effort so we can make the best decisions.
I totally agree with your views regarding the stock exhaust. The aftermarket are obnoxiously loud to me. I have swapped my exhaust with an OEM 450X model exhaust. It is 8lbs lighter, and at $125 for a new takeoff it’s worth every penny.
@@BornAGoon The X pipe/can is a direct bolt on the R/RX is not. The db at idle is the same with X pipe as the L only slight louder at full throttle. It works well with the vortex maps. The weight difference is the biggest difference. I feel the mid range is better but that may be more due to added flywheel weight.
On my scale, 450x pipe is only 3.25-3.5lbs lighter, but I agree, it's a much better pipe than the 450L or RL. Sound is almost as quiet, looks stock, and performs better!
I purchased the Graves a few months ago. Excellent build quality and craftsmanship, lots of power, lightweight and sounds great. But, after a few rides, and trying to use my intercom with my riding buddies, I needed a sound break. With huge regret and a look on my face of a defeated warrior, I switched back to the stock pipe. I'm running the AIM ECU with switch so I can switch maps on the fly. The power difference is very obvious and so is the sound. For now I am running stock until I can find something quieter. I have heard a lot about the CRF450X option. That's my next experiment.
I appreciate your video and your opinions. Especially, the way that you offer your opinion dependent on one’s own personal wants. Like depending on weight, cost, looks etc. because there isn’t a one exhaust fits all for this bike. Not to mention the time and effort it takes to do this test, change out pipers AND ecus! You did an outstanding job. The only think that would have improved it was an actual weight of each with header and a dyno, but don’t take that the wrong way. Keep up the good work!
I like this review. I agree what was said before putting these on are a pain in the butt. And your switching back and forth 😅 I hope you make money for your effort and time for making this great video. Keep reviewing.
I love the Yosh RS-4 on my '22 450RL and it sounds great. Even tho I love the sound...after an hour of riding, I need a sound break, I would look into the FMF Q4 quite muffler next time just for this one very practical reason. Maybe the Graves with the sound dampening tip, I just personally would not spend the extra money on that one.
I had the Q4 on my 19' 450X and it was the perfect noise balance. Not as pretty as the Yoshimura but I could ride it all day without hearing protection. Don't they make a quiet insert for the RS-4?
Thanks for the review. I had some concerns with the noise level but was maybe willing to compromise if performance was worth it. As you pointed out the the gain is minimal so I think I will go with the GET ECU and keep the stock exhaust.
Open up the air box (use TwinAir) and it definitely compliments power delivery. And you don't have to fiddle with ECU settings to keep it from burning rich or lean, which will happen if you buy an ECU, plug it in without testing over and over to find the best dial positions that eliminate those issues because you opted to leave the header and can stock. Not trying to be a "nay-sayer," but there are benefits to opening up the exhaust system.
I’d like to put the Graves header and stock pipe due to looks. Would the stock pipe still work as well and be compatible with the graves header? The black pipe looks sleek.
Great review and comparison. Was going to go FMF Q but I just ordered the Yoshi based on my current availability and price. Expecting a bit of noise but looking forward.how it will match to my Aim ECU.
This was a great shootout! I'd probably be happy with the stock exhaust and an AIM ECU. Arrow also makes a few different slip-ons but it's hard to find much information on those.
Hey so I'm thinking about getting the Yoshi exhaust (slip on only) for my 450L. Would that work well or would I need the full exhaust , as it's quite expensive to add. And if I only get the slip-on. Can I just leave it at that or would I need to go to the mechanic to change some settings to tune it right? Would love to have an answer! Thanks so much in advance
Do you have an ecu installed? If not I would buy the ecu first If you just want the can it will work on the bike but IMO it’s a waste of money unless you have an ecu upgrade
The graves is pointless with the DB insert installed. I'm disappointed that in 2022 someone can't make a high performance muffler that's reasonably quite.
Just found your channel Goon and been loving your videos. That being said... During the test of the exhaust, I wish you would show the can and the pan over to the tip to see if there's any flumes coming out. And for the love of God, please+please pretty please 🙏 reeevvv the crap out of each one when showing us. What you showed us here was a little weak. 11:41 I was thinking if you didn't want to rev each one, then maybe do a drive by? That way we could get a better idea of what it really sounds like. Thank you.
So are you gonna keep one or just roll with the stocker exhaust? I tried the stock exhaust like you said and it is pretty good. I found the engine to run hotter with the stock exhaust, the pipe was cooler but I think all the heat stays in the engine more,......but that's just my opinion. lol
on the 300L I am seeing the pipe makes the biggest difference and the ecu hardly does squat after... I believe you on the 450RL. if you look at the graph for stock, with pipe and no ice, or pipe with ecu, the ecu on the 300L is adding like ??? .1 HP in places.. could be the video I saw this in was wrong but man.. I am wondering if you just did oil changes at 3000 miles on the 450 RL how much damage would be done
@@BornAGoon excellent, that’s a Christmas present right there, the exchange on our monopoly money in Canada is brutal right now. Super appreciate your response good sir.
Interesting. Now over in the UK I installed the FMF tail pipe on my bike which is running a vortex. It definitely feels faster with the can on. Header is stock. Now I thought it may have been me but everyone who's ridden it has the opinion that it feels faster accelerating. Definitely pops wheelie's easier, is the US silencer less restrictive compared to Euro spec? What is the inner diameter of the three header pipes compared to stock? As I'm running the stock header. Some great opinions on the video. I only have an FMF as I can get them trade. Bike has done a fair few thousand miles on it and it still sounds great. Long trips and it can get on your nerves a bit as it is loud.
Doug, what happened; no more stock market update and no response on Twitter either. Sure glad you doing ok. I thought something must have happened to you. have a great day!!
I’m still day trading and running the room every day but I’m not tweeting or doing RUclips vids on that anymore shit got saturated with meme bullshit Thanks for checking on me
I had to make a spacer to step up the stock header pipe to fit the diameter of the FMF slip on. I would think the stock crf450x header would be the best choice as it's going to flow more than standard as well. Unfortunately you can't get the x model in the UK otherwise I would have tried to pick up a second hand one.
At 45 second mark you state that each exhaust was tested with each Athena Get ECU setting. Does this mean, you have to send the GET back for reprograming each time you change an Exhaust?
I’m curious about heat buildup and how each pipe can be isolated from the side cover. I noticed you had heat guards on the Graves; I’m wondering if reflective thermal tape on the inside of the side cover would be sufficient for the other pipes. Love your videos. This Dino-butt appreciates your butt-dyno.
Beginning to get a sneaking suspicion that you may be a bit of a salesman. I gave you the benefit of the doubt through 2 videos but I couldn't take a 3rd where you ended up "in love" with the most expensive option being offered. As I was reaching for the unsubscribe button, you pulled it out of the fire and extolled the value of using the Honda pipe! Great job and I take back what I was beginning to think!
A $1,000+ exhaust is like a girl with her Gucci purse, it's a waste of money, IMO. I can see someone Haiden Deegan needing every ounce of power out of his race bike, but for us normies, a stock exhaust is good enough. Plus, when riding in a ORV park, people don't want to hear your loud ass exhaust.

Do you feel a big power difference between stock and are you using map 4 for stock and have you used map 1 in stock

Anything for the greater good lol

Real talk at the end there
FMF baby love flying machine factory
Great comparison!!! Do you have a part number for the swing arm protection on your bike?
My friend do a Pro Circuit and thoughts about the noise they make what soundssss better!!!???
What about the dyno power Cammander ECU
Your thoughts?

Its well built isnt it It looks so damn good
Hi. I have some question
1.fmf it can fit on stock header CRF450RL 2022-2023 right ?
2. I must Order for 450X Right?
Thank you. for information
Will it hurt to remove the spark arrestor from the factory
Exhaust on my 2023 Honda CRF450RL until I can afford to get a new ECU and Yoshi exhaust?

you would be very happy with an AiM
Great video, auto👍
Do you think you could rate them from quietest to loudest? Awesome test dude, im am just looking for something that isn't too obnoxiously loud.
Thanks for watching The Graves with the cone is probably the quietest then the Yosh then the FMF
Increase performance for sure but the sound too).. keep up!
Btw maybe some cheaper options? like dominator exhaust e.tc
Fmf the best sound
I love the blue on that FMF
Does taco have a dyno? Dyno results are needed
Fmf sounds good

what one was the loudest?
When u installed the fmf 4.1, did the bottom hanger on the muffler line up with the hanger on the frame?
There is only one the yosh

Yes as a goon I should have reved the shit out of them
Are the headers interchangeable? I love the graves header but want the Fmf can.
So are you gonna keep one or just roll with the stocker exhaust?

Yes I just put the stock back on to test my theory it runs good with it but I cant get over the look and sound of the Graves lol
FMF sounded the best by far
FMF all the way. Sounds like it came from the depths of hell
