I love Rachel’s steady confidence whenever she brings a contemporary, realistic spin at her dad. She’s braver than anybody else. The dynamic is loving but she isn’t backing down. They’re a perfect team. 😀

I think when people say they don't believe in 401K they mean they don't understand how it works. I have a coworker who keeps telling everyone she's retiring next year. A few weeks ago I overheard her and another coworker talking and after 30 years on the job she has never invested in 401K. Her exact phrase was that she didn't have time for all of that.

Dave left out another reason... ignorance. When I was younger I did not know anything about 401k's and lived YOLO. It was ignorance. Not fear, not greed.

I like to take risks too, I skydive. I jump out a perfectly good airplanes. Most people are not willing to take this risk. But even I put in my 15% every paycheck to build up my net worth. Because it would just be crazy not to.

That guy was the personification of the "I can't have a normal life, I'm special" crowd. We might assume that mindset is of the type A or driven crowd... but based on the humans I know, that is not the case at all.
I don't think the show concept is unusually bad. There's got to be a show picking up the unique and hilarious personalities who aren't thin enough to make the cut for the bachelor, etc.

It's good that the couple on that show had this conversation early. Their goals and attitudes towards money are obviously misaligned and the sooner they quit each other and look for more suitable partners the better.
Unfortunately, too many couples put this conversation off until it;s too late, making the inevitable breakup just harder and messier.
The odd thing is, buying a house and putting money in your 401k is actually not the norm.

My wife and daughter watch similarly brain dead shows such as Married At First Sight. The people in these shows are nearly always dumb, immature, broke, selfish, and desperate for attention. Quitting TV was a very good move for me.

As a young woman, I am one hundred percent with Dave on Love Is Blind. It is disgustingly pure drama, and nothing good/healthy can come of it for the people involved. You have to be immature to agree to something like that. However, I think it is a good idea of Rachel's to bring in scenes from popular culture media that talk about money. Love them both!
