I just had the pleasure of testing the Shark Matrix robot vacuum. I find the Shark is great except for three things. The side brush it came with couldn’t reach into corners or toe kicks in kitchen or along walls. The bristles are too short. Cannot pick up dirt from those deep design door mats. Also cannot clean all rooms in my house on one charge. I live in a single level Ranch House. It has to go back to the dock to charge & once charged will go back the next time you click CLEAN button on your app, & resume where it left off. Otherwise, I’d rather have the vacuum then not. Basically pretty happy with it & git to keep it. So happy, as I was actually thinking about buying one. 😊
I’m thinking of getting the Shark AI Ultra 2-in-1 Robot Vacuum and Mop with XL HEPA Self-Empty Base for my mom. So both vacuuming and mopping features. Along with a couple other features. If you’d be up to review it, that would be awesome!
Good review. We are still enjoying, and are very happy with our Roborock S4 Max which you reviewed and recommended a while back. Thanks for doing these helpful and informative videos!
I own two Shark IQ robot vacuums with self-emptying bases and they are pretty terrible, especially trying to remove dog fur from low pile carpet. They can't handle long dog fur very well, they don't recognize the magnetic boundary strip, and I frequently have to find them because they gets stuck somewhere or get too much fur and debris wrapped around the brush. That being said, I've yet to find a robot vacuum with a center brushroll that works well for long dog fur. The best for that kind of fur are definitely models like the iLife V3s Pro which has no center brushroll, only side brushes. They're great with fur on hard floors, but are terrible on carpet. I just bought the Shark AI that you're reviewing in this video, but haven't used it yet. Hopefully it will work better than the Shark AI's. I thought about going with a different manufacturer, but I'm only interested in ones that don't use bags.
Another very good review of a wanted product. I have an Ecovacs robot, works about the same, but uses bags inside vacuum. Actually I like the idea of bagless. These robots continue to get better & better. I’m hoping one will clean a rug with a denser and higher nap. These work pretty good on hard surface & ok on thinner carpeting with tight nap.
Ecovacs last no more than 2 years 😭😭 I’m so disappointed! Thankfully I had Asurion insurance and they paid me back when they broke! I ordered this shark today!
We have had a couple Roomba's and quickly relinquishing them to a storage box. The problem was constantly having to clean roller rap. Have they fixed the seemingly inherent problem?
I have a question. I am blind and I’m planning to buy one but I won’t be able to use the app to guide it where I wanted to but in a sense of setting up the schedule. Is it going to clean The rooms always buy itself even if I don’t touch it? Secondly. Is it touchscreen or is it buttons? Will I be able to use it? Without using all the special features of the map as long as somebody says for me the first time? With the map? Do I have to do something with the map by myself every day? Or I can just leave it set up forever? And let it clean by itself?
I'm sorry nobody has answered you in a month... I just saw this post. To be perfectly honest, these types of Robot Vacs are best controlled through the phone apps. You don't really get what you need by touching buttons on the Vac itself, it's really App-driven. Having said that, if you can have a sighted person help you with the initial setup, once it maps your home and knows where to go, it can be put on a schedule, say to vacuum the whole house every other day at 9am (or however you want it scheduled)... after the initial setup and setting a schedule it will do its own thing more-or-less indefinitely... the only thing you would have to do is occasionally empty the base station once a month or so. It also supports voice control if you have something like Alexa "Alexa, have the living room vacuumed". I hope those answers help... sorry nobody answered sooner.
Also, if anybody reading this question is wondering, the answer of manual operation is yes! You CAN just hit a button on top of the unit to start it running, or to send it to the dock. :)
Erin, you must have the cleanest house on RUclips. 😂. I’m still using a four year old Roomba that my kids gave me for Christmas. It still does a reasonable job as long as I prepare my place in advance. Thanks again for your concise reviews.
I have a 2 story house. What is best way to clean both upstairs & downstairs. If I use app it can only do downstairs or upstairs roght? Without app can I put base downstairs when doing downstairs & then move base upstairs to do upstairs?
Wife got me this for Christmas. She said it was $300 from Amazon. Charging now. Haven't used it yet. This thing seems a little silly assed to me, but I'll give it a whirl.
@@ErinLawrenceTV I love the thing. It is incredible. I was highly skeptical at first. Opened it up Christmas morning, fought the urge to roll my eyes....might as well have been a bowling ball. But I love this vacuum. It works! It's no gimmick. Downloaded the app to my phone. A few taps and it's off the dock and cleaning. Unbelievable!
@@ErinLawrenceTV forgot to mention.....I love how this vac can go where a standup vac can't. It goes under furniture, under beds, behind and under tables. I'm sold on it.
Great videos and great information. I am going for Shark AI 2 in 1 at Best Buy got it for $545 with 12 mo interest free. Not happy to know that it can handle multiple floors. I think Shark said they are working on it and would be releasing it soon. Don’t know when and not sure if this is a news from the right source. Can you please let us know if this feature is upcoming with the changes in their app? Overall, I chose Shark over iRobot because the cleaning power. iRobot is good in recognizing the objects including the wire etc. But the cleaning power is not as great as Shark. Also, iRobot is good in mapping application where Shark is catching up on it. I will add more information when I get my Shark AI 2 in 1. Thanks again for your videos. Keep it up.
Excellent video, Erin! I also just purchased a Shark AV2501AE Self-Emptying vacuum and so far have been pretty impressed with it. I did note that after it "mapped" out my home and went on it's first cleaning run, (doing quite well in "normal" mode) after about an hour, the vacuum stopped and returned to the base. Then after it emptied the dirt bin, (even though it had 40% battery life left) did NOT start back up and return to where it left off. It just sat on the base charging, although the app indicated the vacuum was "Ready To Clean". This just happened and I did not manually push the start button to get it going again, but was wondering if this is normal where every time the vacuum returns to its base to empty - will it remain there until it fully charges again? Appreciate your input - Thanks!
so. there is a setting in the app for the vacuum that if it drops to 50% or 40% battery it returns to the base then once charged fully goes again might want to see if that is turned on.
There is a super clean charge/restart (similar) setting where it goes back and recharges before setting off again 2 or 3 hrs later. If you have it off, but "clean till battery dead" (descriptive) setting on then it would continue cleaning past 40%
At 4:47, you said it will clean until the dust bin is full, then head back to the base station to empty. Can you tell me how you know that? Does it have sensors in the dust bin?
Thank you so much for your reviews. I just ordered a Shark AV2501S AI Ultra Robot Vacuum, and am looking forward to using it. I wanted bag-less specifically so I didn't have to shell out money for bags. Vacuum bags get smelly too and I don't like that. With the hepa filters I'm not worried at all about germs.
@cjhan47 I am thinking about getting one since it is on sale now. How is your experience so far? I saw some reviews saying the robot doesn't go back and start where it left off once it goes back for cleaning.
I've had my AI Shark for a year now and have remapped a couple of times as I've changed/moved furniture or decided to let it do a room that I didn't allow it to go in. It remaps very easily.
Hi - would anyone be able to review about long hair pick up? I keep watching videos and noticed this aspect is barely talked about. I live in a house with three girls and we all she like crazy so I’m curious about how this machine handles. Thanks!
Found it at Canadian tire for $649, bought one. i havent had time to set it up yet. I only got it out of the box and charging. We have 2 cats that shed a lot of hair!
The mention of scheduling to clean individual rooms on certain days isn’t an accurate representation. There’s no setting where you can do that. The schedule only works to clean your entire house at certain times during the day. While being able to schedule certain rooms on certain days would be nice, that’s unfortunately not a feature shark has added.
Shark vacuums are junk. Mine broke in 3 months and they refuse to honor the warranty because I unscrewed a single screw that held on a side brush. They said that voided the warranty.
Great vacuum, Crappy app. Cant get it to connect to my WiFi even though we have several laptops, cell phones tv's and many other devices all connected. Rebooted router, shark and phone. It is a worthless app that does not work. They wont build a PC app so it was worthless. Took it back tp COSTCO for a refund. If I cant program it then its not worth anything to me.
For anyone else having this problem-I also had it and tried everything. Kept sending it to our home network and it would not connect. Then reread the explanation. The bot connects to the network via the app (on cell phone or other mobile device). But my cell phone was running on the provider’s mobile network, not my home network. Changed the settings on my cell phone to use the home network for WiFi and all was good. But it was incredibly frustrating figuring it out.
Finally a review without lots of nonsense talking. Right to the topic!
Thanks for the view!
@@ErinLawrenceTV my vacuum arrived yesterday, I mapped the house, added tags but honestly it doesn’t recognize any rooms to individually clean. 😔

I just purchased this one "Amazon Renewed " for $199 US. I have a different Shark robot vacuum that doesn't have lidar, and it does a great job.
Since it only accommodates 1 floor plan in the app, is it possible to take it to another floor and run it manually?
