      I'm bawling my eyes out anyway, grew up with Disney and doing even more crying since I have to delay my WDW trip. Love how it was apart of mine and others childhood.

    There is a magic to Walt Disney. He had a tender voice that brings you so much peace. This is a man who loved what he did.

      Though, he did get to ride it in its testing state in 1966. It wasn’t completed with all the Audio Animatronics and the soundtrack installed. In fact, it was mostly finished by Valentines Day 1967 when Disneyland apparently let the regular cast members test it out.

    I just got back for taking my son to Disneyland for the his Make-a-Wish (it was his first time at Disneyland) and he loved the Pirates of the Caribbean. It was the best vacation any of has ever had. :)

    The whole concept is genius. The boat ride waterfall into the past, the animatronics making the scenes 3D. The underground illusion of night. Considering this was the 60's is mind boggling. Walt and his going UP the waterfall idea. To have been Julie and heard it all from Walt, very kool memory. =)

    I do miss the auction! I don't care if it seems offensive, it was accurate to the time period and should stay not only as history had it, but as Walt wanted it.

      Yeah. Disneyland is all about that historical accuracy and there were no female pirates, so Redd is complete bunk. It would be MUCH better for little girls to see women depicted only as objects for sale against their will than to be a part of the narrative. It's almost like Disney wants to be more inclusive... almost as though they think making money depends on it. Losers . . .Good comment. Very important stuff.

    Pirates of the Caribbean Is my favorite ride at Disneyland and I wish that Disneyland hasn’t changed a thing on the ride the way Walt Disney envisioned the ride Is how It should have stayed

    Children and parents on the east coast were very happy when we heard on the news that disney Disney had bought land in Florida to build Disney world. Before then you had to travel to California to see Disney land so when we saw Disney explaining his plans for Disney world everyone in Eastern US were very happy to have it closer.

    2:00 That pirate is my favorite part of the ride. Such a relatable icon. Trying so hard to balance all the hats, keep hold of all your treasure, and safely make it from shore to ship.

      The bridal auction scene is still there at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom but it is still being taken out.

      Pretty sure Walt, who had two daughters, would have approved of the changes. The new animatronics are amazing, Redd is a fabulous new character to sell merchandise instead of an object being sold for sex and let's face it, they couldn't have done anything worse than adding 3 Johnny Depps and a Geoffrey Rush...

    Walt did a fantastic job making Disneyland for all people. My mom and my aunt and uncles and grandma and my deceased grandpa bob went to Disneyland 1969 54 years ago

    Two things, first, does anyone know what became of these exquisite miniatures? They absolutely belong in a museum. Though I've heard the carousel of progress mini was destroyed (such a shame). Also... is this a series I could watch all of? in alot of Disney videos, I've seen bits and pieces of this sort of workshop with Walt as the host and I would absolutely adore just getting lost in all of them. Thanks in advance for any help :)

      I agree! Those figures are master piece examples of Walt Disney's dream. If they were found and bought to an auction, you have any idea what kind of staggering prices they would go for?! There are a lot of wealthy Disney enthusiast out there that would take premium dollar to have those.
