    Still unbelievable that he didn't win the tournament in 2004. Absolute peak of his powers and Berdych was a baby. Caught him totally off guard in their first meeting.
    His path would've been Robredo-Dent-Massu-Fish if he'd gotten past Berdych.

      A lot can happen in one tournament, particularly one that happens every four years. I’m glad he got the doubles gold with Stan.
      The same can honestly be said for Novak if he doesn’t win gold in Tokyo.

      His strokes has become more compact as he ages because the bigger, more powerful shot is harder on the body. Also, changing to the bigger racquet gives him more power on the backhand but less control. But yes, his 04-06 forehand was a thing of exceptional beauty.

    There´s something about Federer´s career I don´t like. Maybe I feel like he´s overhyped, not in terms of game style but in terms of achievements, not being able to beat Nadal and Djokovic consistently in the Grand Slams. Navratilova said it best: he´s the best of all times but not the best of his time

    • @udupashashank
      @udupashashank 4 года назад +29

      Except that he is. Because Novak and Nadal are not of his time.
      He first defeated the like of Agassi and Sampras of his previous era convincingly.
      He then defeated his actual era players Hewitt, Roddick, Safin, Davydenko, Haas etc
      He then held his own against his next era players like Rafa , Novak and Andy
      He then has winning record against the next era players of Stan, Delpo, Cilic, Berdych, Tsonga etc
      Then the next generation after that in Dimitrov, Goffin and others
      Then its next generation Medvedev, Thiem, Zverev, Tsitsipas, etc
      And now he is even winning against todays players like Felix, Shapo, etc
      You can disregard his greatness as much as you want. The fact remains that he was, is and will always be the Greatest of All Time.
      Not to forget the fact that sufaces, racquets and technology has changed massively over the years and slowing down of surfaces to make it more rally prone have only made it tougher for him to adpot. Yet, here he is , at the age of 39 almost, as World Number 4.
