Thats is a fact . The 90s ran pretty good too .... 80s Science fiction Fantasy Adventure Perspective Creativity Cinematic Risks Cinematic Budget Risks Make Up Costume Music Songs Symphony ... For those who remember ..... It has left a dynamic impact on all of our Lives and our Love ..... It sure did for me ! Im only 34 I was born 87 so most of what I watched was reruns and such .
Love this FILM!!! It will always have a special place in my heart forever. Believe when I saw this when I was a little boy(9), it made me a True Romantic.
My mom and sister say this song always makes them think of me running through our redwood forest backyard when my sister and I we were kids. I always felt more Una-ish in personality though. lol One of my favorite childhood movies.
How can we describe the feeling of listening to a song like that? No words! It crashes across the “ evilsphere” that surrounds us and reaches the beautiful world hidden inside our heart.
So magical and moving; the song, the singing, the imagery, and the music are so deeply beautiful, sweetly haunting, and mystically romantic that it has a healing and spellbinding effect. The imagery of Legend (along with the music and singing) gives it a very rare, otherworldly atmosphere and feel that's powerfully enchanting and unforgettable. It feels Other (otherworldly) yet, also, at the same time, very Homely (it hits something very familiar and close to home in one's heart). There are profound spiritual and Christian themes lightly (and, at times, deeply) threaded throughout the lyrics that gives its romance, story, magic, and myth so much lasting power.
Living river turn light to diamonds When I look in my true love's eyes Come wild flowers weave us a carpet Spreading oak make a shade where we lie Leaves and branches whisper our love song When I look in my true love's eyes Young as any spring his eyes almost sing to me Living river turn light to diamonds When I look in my true love's eyes Like a child feels watching a rainbow Like a bird feels the first time it flies I feel magic stirring within me When I look in my true love's eyes Young as any spring his eyes almost sing In the bumps and the hollows The sunlight and shadows He kissed her as those bluebells played As his lips met her breath He went sweetly to death At the roots of the bluebells is where he's laid Come down sparrow sing me good morning Rise up sun like the arch of the sky Living river turn light to diamonds When I look in my true love's eyes Young as any spring his eyes almost sing
A treasured gem indeed.Came back to me standing in a magical portal that holds this same energy, timeless beauty , peace, clarity, playfulness, magic and infinite love. 💜🧚♀️ who would believe that these places exist in our physical reality!!!! So sacred that even breathing stops into silence😍💜 what a movie gotta watch this again
I still say this song and the opening scene trumps anything done in any fantasy movie ever. The scenery is also perfect and amazing. Talk about setting the mood. I'd love to see this move re-made, but for a slightly more mature audience.
This is a MUST See.I believe it's Tom Cruise's 1st movie. The Innocence if Lily seems to be genuine and not portrayed. I am not sure Sara actually sang the song but it suits her and convinced me. AHHH what I wouldn't give to have a girl sing this song to me with such lovely sincerity in her voice. One of the finest Fantasy movies I have ever seen. Good dueling Evil. Tim Curry's portrayal of the Lord of the Night was top notch.
Its a beautiful and scary movie and Jerry Goldsmiths soundtrack RULES. Very much like the Secret of Nhim, it has a sweet lullaby enclosed. He's up there with Williams, Horner and Vangelis in my opinion!
Actually the musical score is extremely important, and can make the difference between a great film and an average one. A score sets a movie's tone, and it's why the theatrical cut of Legend feels like a long, trippy 80's music video, whereas the DC feels like a majestic, timeless fantasy classic.
They had two soundtracks. This is from the original, which was re-done into the commonly known soundtrack because the director was scared, at the last minute, that he made the movie too sweet.
i loved thise fil seen it years ago on VHS and watched it here a while back on You Tube thise song aws so beautiful and omg those Unicorns stole my heart
I have the DVD with both versions and I watched it closely and wow you're right. Totally missed the part where Jack fought the dragon then had to find the ring of power while traveling the labyrinth blind. And that part where Lily danced the Bolero brought a tear to my eye. Seriously show some respect to the fact that people have a different opinion, that you aren't 100% right, and regardless of the music the plot of the film is the same it just changes the appeal to certain audience members.
There is a movie that's kept playing in my head (2 very vague scenes) that I can't remember the name of. I watched it in my child hood around '93-'94? Came across Legend. Some of this makes me Think of the movie in question, and although I've heard of Legend...I don't believe I've actually seen it because I don't remember Any of these scenes showing up in youtube, and I don't recall anyone famous being in the one in my head let alone Tom Cruise. Maybe I've made this up but it's been bugging me for like a decade now. -_-
I tried to play this Movie Legend for my exgirlfriends children. They were born in 03 , 09 , and 2012 ... I was pissed they could not sit still, they wanted to play on their cellphones , get up and leave..... I was born in 87 when I first saw this movie I was memorized and it became an instant classic to me . Now, I don't want anyone to think that I live in the past but my personal opinion is that entertainment and culture sucks nowadays . Movies are hardly captivating, They have ran out of the great ideas(for the most part), they rely on C.G.I. way too much (with that being said costume and makeup kinda fell off) Cartoons are not cartoons they are also CGI(they used to right symphonies to cartoons too, and make beautiful soundtracks) , scary movies suck too , there has hardly been any trend setting movies that has left dynamic impacts to the degree of yesteryear . And I don't even want to get started on the music and clothes........ I thought that the future was going to be Raw and Great not like this . ......anyway thanks for reading my comment , let me know if you agree . Peace and God Bless ~and hope for a better future~
Well i gotta say there is still hope, i am a teenager and my parents raised me with these kind of movies and i love them more like anything they got know days. :)
Not me... NAH! Just kidding! This is some of the best music EVER written and sung!!! Jerry Goldsmith (I'm assuming he wrote the music to this song) is a genius
A very special and underrated movie. I like the theater version with Tangerine Dream soundtrack the most and grew up on them but I saw the Director's Cut with Jerry Goldsmith score and it's pretty good especially with Lily's song. One of my favorite movies as a kid. 80s is a magical decade with movies and music. I was always partial to the theater cut with Tangerine Dream music but this Director's Cut has this very nice song from Mr. Goldsmith. It's full of magic for sure.
@AnchoretJaneLewis "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," the "Birds of Prey" TV show, and a bunch of smaller films (which she seems to prefer). She also is, or was, co-owner of a production company. My favorites of hers are "Ferris," and a neat little movie with Eric Roberts and F. Murray Abraham called, "By the Sword." If you like this film, you might like that one, so check it out!
This film is far from perfect on so many levels yet it also had other things extremely good. Its atmosphere is so very strong and unique. It solely exist just in this one film and you will not find it anywhere else. It is like visit Ing different world.
I loved the music from the us version but loved the European movie better, was alot cut out in the us version, favorite song from Legend was Loved by the Sun.
The fact that you can't tell the difference between the tone of the two different versions is your problem. Ask any filmmaker or director and they'll tell how important a score is to the mood and flow of a film. Can you imagine Halloween (1978) with an uplifting, sweeping score? Or Chinatown with a contemporary pop soundtrack? Hell no, it would be like watching two completely different films. I suggest watching the TC and DC back to back, but this time actually pay attention.
wow i think i want to marry you for posting this!Been looking ofr ages!Any one have all the lyrics?a few seem a bit muddled or that could just be my bad hearing.I wrote a story about this once on a fan fic site, never got round to finishing it (i have become what i hate most!), but hearing this again has inspired me to continue.
In a way I think it would have done well with a well balanced mix of both. Really a score doesn't make a movie, it's the content. Still I'm glad they released the DVD with both versions so I get to enjoy it twice as much.
Both felt the same to me regardless of the score. They found the unicorn, one was 'killed' the other captured along with Lily, a quest to save them both, dark Lily, they got saved the balance was saved. The credits rolled. I mean I love the sound track to Elf but I can't stand the movie and switching the musical score isn't going to change it for me.
Pretty sure I've read that the guy that created Zelda cited this movie as inspiration. If you watch the movie closely you can pick out a lot of things that appear in the games. At least the early ones.
One of the most memorable movie songs. A real hidden gem. Mr. Goldsmith have my deepest respect.
Am I the only one who absolutely ADORES both scores for this movie?
No, however, imo, Tangerine Dream wins the film, the other was good, but didn't fit as well as TD imo.
The music and emotion of 80's fantasy and sci-fi films has never since been matched.
+germanicelt Agreed 100%!
It's not the films. It's Jerry. Jerry's soul. ruclips.net/video/Yuq0GN30_gc/видео.html

I think Lord of the rings took some inspiration from this, and possibly The Phantom of the Opera 2004 movie version of the Broadway show.
Yes correckt 👍👍👍
Love this FILM!!! It will always have a special place in my heart forever. Believe when I saw this when I was a little boy(9), it made me a True Romantic.
The mid 80s did that to us boys. I was 11 when this came out. I still remember that year well.
Mia Sara still takes my breath away.
Thank you for posting this, Sweet songs of youth, teaching us to be good for goodness sake!
My favorite movie. I was born in 92. I love older music and movies. I also love nature as a pagan. 💝
80s sci-fi and fantasy films can't be topped.
My mom and sister say this song always makes them think of me running through our redwood forest backyard when my sister and I we were kids. I always felt more Una-ish in personality though. lol One of my favorite childhood movies.

OMG Mia Sara! Beauty does not begin to describe
So true.
Her beauty is unmatched. Her singing voice is so soft and magical!
Beautiful and Melancholic song
Mia Sara Has a great voice
Living river turn light to diamonds
When I look in my true love's eyes
Come wild flowers weave us a carpet
Spreading oak make a shade where we lie
Leaves and branches
whisper our love song
When I look in my true love's eyes
Young as any spring
his eyes almost sing to me
Living river turn light to diamonds
When I look in my true love's eyes
Like a child feels watching a rainbow
Like a bird feels
the first time it flies
I feel magic stirring within me
When I look in my true love's eyes
Young as any spring
his eyes almost sing
In the bumps and the hollows
The sunlight and shadows
He kissed her as those bluebells played
As his lips met her breath
He went sweetly to death
At the roots
of the bluebells is where he's laid
Come down sparrow sing me good morning
Rise up sun like the arch of the sky
Living river turn light to diamonds
When I look in my true love's eyes
Young as any spring
his eyes almost sing
Best 80s fantasy movie
I love when people learn of new movies here in youtube. Especially one like this. Enjoy.

Bill Kennedy please no. No more remakes.
I’ve never heard the Jerry Goldsmith version before. It’s pretty. But Tangerine Dreams version is beautiful!
I agree with you to a point. Some of the LOTR & HOBBIT songs are amazing and iconic.
I love this song. It is very sweet. I sang a short verse from this to my girlfriend and she loved it. The part she sings when the unicorns die.
This is a MUST See.I believe it's Tom Cruise's 1st movie. The Innocence if Lily seems to be genuine and not portrayed. I am not sure Sara actually sang the song but it suits her and convinced me. Victor Rubalcava Not his first movie, fifth I think. I know that Risky Business was before this, also a brilliant film.
+Victor Rubalcava Haven't seen it since 2006. Time to watch it again.
She actually did sing.
Talking over recent films with my friend and this is right up there with our best childhood films!
Two staggeringly good-looking people getting it on in a beautiful setting accompanyed by gorgeous music :-)
Love singvocie and this movie ♥️♥️♥️ She is so good amazing actress and rolemodel Mia Sara ♥️♥️
Its a beautiful and scary movie and Jerry Goldsmiths soundtrack RULES. Very much like the Secret of Nhim, it has a sweet lullaby enclosed. He's up there with Williams, Horner and Vangelis in my opinion!
Damn, i got that tune in my head for days now.. humming it .. and now here it is! Kudos!
Thanks man. This is great. I can' t imagine a better tribute to this piece of music and cinema.
I love this movie so much!
Mia Sara, beautiful
The song is called My True Love's Eyes.
i love the movie!! and this song too!!!! i play this song in my classic guitar!! i love you lily!!!
I want to live in that world too!

Not me... NAH! Just kidding! This is some of the best music EVER written and sung!!! Jerry Goldsmith (I'm assuming he wrote the music to this song) is a genius
Fortunately they cut off all the scenes of those devilish creatures and left only the beautiful ones! Lovely work. Congrats!

Beautiful...
I want to live in this world also! :)
wounderfull movie one of my all time favorites and love this song
something soothingly mystifying about this track... :)
Yes, Jerry Goldsmith's music has that effect on people. Such as the Gizmo theme from Gremlins.
Esta cancion es muy atesorada para mi !!!Gracas!😇🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🦄🐷🧚♂️🧚♂️🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚♀️🧚🧚🧚🧜♂️🧜♀️

There was so much glitter in this movie.

Tangerine Dream is the name of the band that did this song and the song title is loved by the sun.
HAHAHHA at 0:20 ......the props people just toss the birds in ...hahaha that's is freaken priceless!
one of the best fantacy movie in the 80s and i like this version better cause it brigs it out more. but "love by the sun" is a great song.

They included a part of it, when she's singing in the forest.

Dios q hermoso hombre Tom cruise tiene rasgos judio
"Er küsst sie unter Linden & Eichen..."
"loved by the sun" by the band tangerine dream
Mia Sara is so much better than Tom Cruise. Would love to see more of her in the movies!
what is the name of this movie?i want to watch it because the movie seem magical
omg is TOM cruise..XD LMAO he so young, both is prefect for Zelda + Link...XD
I prefer the Tangerine Dream score, but I wish this song was included in both versions. I don't like the score it's from.
Where did you find this? I love this song!
@MrStruts1
you lucky guy. well done

💕💕💕💕💕 herrlich
@arraceline the whole movie is like that
Hi paris hilton look a like. I'll see you again. Loved by the sun, son. , Joe joe
@homegrowndave It's supposed to symbolize love and innocence, dude.
link and zelda...what? why did I think that?
Pretty sure I've read that the guy that created Zelda cited this movie as inspiration. If you watch the movie closely you can pick out a lot of things that appear in the games. At least the early ones.
Too bad this is going to be the closest we every get to an actual zelda movie.
