    Peak Design has done it again! We are huge fans of everything Peak Desing does, but this is definitely our favorite pack of theirs yet.
    While photographers will probably get the most value out of the Zip, the pack's moderate price and dope features make it one of the best EDC's we've ever tested.

    Thank you for the video, very informative. Small correction: I just bought it and I can see that the key-ring holder is simply tied, it isn't fixed. You only need to untie it from the handle on the water bottle pocket and tie it in any other place, a handle or a loop that you prefer. But good job and keep like this

    If you carry yours on a bike, the hip belt is a must. Plus, I carry mine on day hikes. By the time I have snacks and enough water, I'm really happy to have the weight off my shoulders for the day. I did purchase it without the belt, but immediately decided to order it. But I'm a hip belt guy and my back and shoulders thank me for it.

    I just bought the 20L and the main advantage of the zip over the "base" everyday (for photography--my reason for getting it) is the side entry (similar to a sling), and NOT having the less-secure mag latches. So far, I've found the zip very comfortable (even more so with the hip belt--which also adds security and provides a convenient mounting point for a capture--with or without the pro pad). I also love the style and the fact that it doesn't look like a camera bag (e.g., my very obvious Lowepro ProTactic 450). I originally had the 15L but it quickly became evident that the 20L offered much more "headroom" and it's much easier to fit a water bottle and 'pod. BtW, I am a "super hard-core pro" (except that I'm not for hire), but as I primarily shoot MFT, this pack is much more practical than my big Lowepro for field work, as I don't need all that space* and a smaller pack like this is much easier for climbing, riding, skiing, or hiking technical terrain (this is where the hip belt comes in, unless you're wearing a harness, although that may well work). I consider PD stuff to be a bit pricy, but it does generally work well and there's that lifetime warranty...
    *My basic MFT "field kit," which easily fits in the 20L with room to spare, includes a Lumix G9M2, G9 w/battery grip, six lenses covering 12-800mm EFL with macro, batteries, filters, etc. No way would a larger-sensor kit covering that FL range even fit into the big Lowepro, plus it would weigh 2-3X what my kit does.

    Should also mention how light this bag is comparing to the regular backpack. I use 20L regular everyday backpack, 15L zip and 20! tote. I actually like to travel with the 15L zip because I will place heavy stuff in the carry on roller and just the light essential in zip and use the zip as my camera bag after arrival. Love the other two also for different use cases.

    Hello! Thank you so much for this review, I feel so lucky I found your channel. So, I've been looking for the perfect EDC backpack for me. I am moving to Denmark next year, so I am looking for a backpack that it's great for commuting on a bike, has good space for small weekend trips and is waterproof. In Denmark it rains quite a lot the whole year, so this feature is crucial for me. Would you say this backpack will keep my stuff safe from the water? And would you say it is comfortable to use on a bike? Thanks a lot!

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  3 года назад +2

      Hey Jorge, congrats on the move to Denmark! I would say that this backpack is perfect for everything you said except that it is not waterproof - it is water resistant. HIGHLY water resistant, but not water proof. Ive actually never tested a waterproof backpack myself, but if you are looking for something that is resistant to rain - this should be perfect (although I'd keep a bag on hand in case it starts pouring).

    • @JorgeBarreraC

      @@Nomads.Nation Thank for your response. Actually is true what you say , water resistant is what I am looking for. I don't there is many water proof backs out there, but if this backpack will resist the rain then it should be good enough for me. Thanks!

    I’m undecided between the 20L & 15L, any suggestions ? I do not need to carry a lot but I know there are a couple different features between the two other than the obvious 5L difference.

    • @Nomads.Nation
      @Nomads.Nation  3 года назад +2

      Hey Heather! The features are basically the same, I'd also recommend double checking the laptop dimensions. I think this decision comes down to the 5 liters. Is this just a small EDC for you? If so, go with 15. But if you want something a bit bigger that can pack more if you need it, go with the 20 :)

    • @heatherbayler2107
      @heatherbayler2107 3 года назад +1

      Nomads Nation thank you, for the input it’s greatly appreciated. I’ve decided I’ll go with the 20L because then I can travel with my 13” or 15” laptop although I’ll likely only travel with the 13” but at least the 5L more will allow me to pack a little more if necessary. I usually only travel with a Canon M50 and two lens, a tablet or the laptop but I’d like room for a day or two of clothing or an extra jacket if needed.

    Frenchie Co Speedbackpack, Alpaka Shift Pack, HURU Model A, DayFarer Designs Backpack, and Black Ember 3 Way Backpack are some bags that don't have as many reviews to check out!
    I'm happy Peak Design actually engineered a zip instead of using the generic Zoom zipper. I've heard Peak Design bag zips breaking regularly prior to the Ultra Zip they came out with. They did collaborate with Zoom to create it interestingly enough. They got a lot of flack for not going with YKK over thee years but I think now things are better.
