Thats a main lug panel, there is no way to ensure that the utility main is off before the generator feeds the panel. Also, a connector is still required even though the stud is next to the panel.
You really should have a physical block to ensure no power can be back fed to the grid. Someone could easily flip that main breaker back on and cause the death of a lineman.
A licensed electrician would have placed an interlock in the main breakers. Someone will forget one step when in need of the generator power, and it's not going to go well. Please do right. You might have well-used a dryer cord. Suicidal cord. having natural gas, why not get a tri fuel generator, and have it connected to the NG meter? I have it connected to the gas meter and 36-foot gas line. A soft start connected to my 3ton ac heat pump. I am saying
You need an interlock kit
You’re absolutely correct, just spend ~$30 more for interlock kit you will save thousands of dollars could be live.
Where is the connector and interlocking kit? Better yet a 6 to 10 breaker ATS switch panel.
Great video. Don’t pay attention to the other comments. You said his main breaker is outside and explained it to them.

Yeah I would love that setup but here in Texas that’s illegal without a interlock
I have an Interlock Glad i have it its safer than this!!!!!!!!!
What idiots
Why would you start a generator in the garage and then point the exhaust of a running generator into the garage?
This such a dangerous install!!!!!
I would recommend you take down this video! You are liable and this video is evidence.
Shouldve just installed a GENER-LINK.
Not allowed in my area
Too pricy
Very unsafe way to hook up a generator. I hope you get an electrician in ASAP to do it properly.
Should have paid couple +$100 and got an automatic transfer switch.
No need with a small generator but he DEFINITELY needs an interlock. A soft start for his AC would help too so he can use it.
@@rainman6080 that doesn't look like a small generator to me. He could probably run his whole house on it.

That thing is loud.
This guy has a death wish.
Gas give you better wattage

That's an illegal installation. Go ahead and delete this.
So much wrong here. This should be taken down.
What a hack.
Horrible installation
