      You underestimate the level of hatred that exists between the CCP and TPP. The CCP in Beijing still holds the Kuomintang descendants responsible for the devastation China suffered after the civil war, including Mao's "Great Leap Forward" which killed between 25 and 60 million people by starvation and the Tianenmen Square massacre. The CCP refuses to claim responsibility for policies they implimented that led to those events. Just like our ruling elite will never accept or claim responsibility for policies they enact that might lead to a civil war or national divorce.

    China invade Taiwan? I hardly think so. And there are three good reasons for this.
    1) Xi's position is not secure enough to risk invading Taiwan, and failing in the process. If he chooses to stay in power for the rest of his life he will not risk throwing it all away like Putin is doing in Ukraine. China has a great deal to lose and very little to gain.
    2) Invading Taiwan is easier said than done. The Taiwan Straight is notorious for any sort of troop transport. Even with all their missiles the PLA would be sitting ducks as they headed towards Taiwan's beaches. And even a moderately well disciplined force would then proceed to slaughter the PLA on the beaches if they didn't get blown out of the water on the way in.
    3) The USA and Japan, plus other regional powers, would likely come to Taiwan's aid should the CCP decide on using force to control Taipei.
    Additionally there will be significant financial loss for China if they went to war with Taiwan. There would be certain disruption in Pacific theatre commerce, and severe sanctions for them to deal with. Not to mention loss of units on their borders and the risk what allies they have might turn on them and use the opportunity to seize their territory.
    Things would go very poorly if Xi's CCP chose to invade. What is more likely is......sshhh.....
    ........(lil pinks are everywhere.)

      Anyone who knows anything about the situation knows it makes no sense for China to invade Taiwan .. the problem is that China's economy is fast collapsing into the toilet and the CCP's stronghold is getting weaker. The danger is not that China will do it because it makes sense, but as the last writhings of Xi and the CCP in spite of the fact it would completely wreck China.

    • @theEVILone0130
      @theEVILone0130 4 месяца назад +9

      The main reason the talking heads fear China will invade (sooner rather than later) are due to a couple of reasons.
      First is the long term decline in population. Due to the party's one child program. It has left china with a population decline that will take generations to undue the damage done with the one child program. Mainly is because the population is dropped to a level that there are more retiries than workers by almost 3 to 1 ratio. So by 2027 they physically can provide the military with the forces after 2027 without crippling their economy by pulling workers off jobs for military service but if they don't the number of soldiers will be too low for a quick victory and it will turn into another Ukraine.
      The second is related to the first. And that is due to there are too few females to build the population since the one child program that resulted in the death of the majority of babies born during that time period. So that limits the female to male ratio of 1 to 4. So 3/4 of the men won't have a Chinese wife if they can get permission to get married to a foreign national their children will suffer from racism and be ostracized because they are mixed. So after 2027 the population decline will lead to China most likely giving up control of Mongolia, and Tibet along with the disputed border area with India. So they are in a position of three years if they wish to unify before it becomes impossible logistically due to manpower shortages.

    "And Beijing would likely take that as a straight-up declaration of war."

  • @popo5413
    @popo5413 4 месяца назад +71

    China may have 2 million active troops You need to remove from that number those that are used for garrison duties around the Chinese border, on the artificial island and their massive deployments on the Indian border. If China removed its Indian border Garrisons (not border guards) India would move into the disputed territory and build fortified posts so the amount of active fitting troops less support and admin would be under 500.000 guys with guns and the support would be 200.000 maybe a bit hard to juggle. oops not to forget other countries with Chinese troops deployed like Tibet and Mongolia these troops can not be moved back home and would have to stay in place. with all the deployed troops you do the math 500.000 & 200.000 may overstated??

      Not to mention the fact that China has virtually no reserves. They can’t take the chance of having armed forces that they don’t have an iron grip over. A huge amount of Chinese training time is devoted to ideological indoctrination. The Taiwanese on the other hand have universal conscription for men. Previously, it was active duty for training only. Recently, they increased the conscription too I believe over a year. If they fully activated all of their reserves, they would have over 800,000 troops.

      Taiwan may be interested in the japaneese electromagnetic rail gun that they are dumping tons of money on. As a line of sight counterbto fast hypersonic missles, a rail gun offers rapid direct fire as long as the guns are up high enough, Taiwan has steep maintains that may make it suitable as a railgun battery site. Range is more tied to total hight and earth's curvature to target to 3 gorges

      It's theoretically possible, but at least with publicly known technology (batteries and gun barriers for that range are much bigger than missile launchers), the logistics chain needed for such a thing would be quite sensitive to being discovered and attacked. If you consider opportunity cost, you would be better off with a ballistic missile submarine (that is mobile) rather than a big gun.
      Think of the extremely large cannons (railway guns, V-3 cannon) that were built in World War II: there were analysts calculating how many tanks, bombers, or conventional artillery pieces you could have built for the cost of operating one of those guns.
      That said I don't think any physics say the cannon would always be worse than ballistic missiles: if we evolved electromagnetic technology and mass drivers more than we did rocket and internal combustion engine technology like a lot of alt-history in steampunk plot lines, the cannon would be "cheaper".

    One weakness of Taiwan that you did touch upon was its lack of natural energy resources. Taking that further, a naval blockade of the shipping that brings in oil, gas and coal would then force the consumption of its reserves which are only sufficient for a couple of weeks before being depleted. I would expect the military to have extra separate reserves for the planes and ships and vehicles, but nevertheless the reserves are finite and would eventually be consumed. The PRC would then have a weakened Taiwan to attack. But Taiwan’s strategists would be aware of this and have their response ready.

    • @pillarwatch

    Military Show, your Taiwan history is incorrect.
    Taiwan was not annexed by China in 1683 as you say at 11:00, rather the first claims of a Chinese Taiwan prefecture came in 1876 and was not accepted internationally and did not match the facts on the ground. Note LeGendre's book of the time. China was not a sea-faring nation, and Taiwan was infested with malaria mosquitoes, inhabited by Austronesian head hunters, and its shores used by pirates and smugglers. They took little interest in the island.
    There is a very good book that goes over the earlier period called "Introduction to the Taiwan Question" that can be found on that website that sells so many books. It does not take long to read, and everything in the book is cited to original sources in case you want to dig deeper.
    You also make the same mistake as many others, you didn't mention that Taiwan was already a nation of 7 million Taiwanese people, and the approximately 600,000 followers of the KMT from China were refugees, and their war effort was in full collapse. Note that Mao supported its independence before the KMT was there, while putting it into the same class as Korea.
    Another thing you get wrong is that the one China Policy was worked out between Chinese factions, while one of those factions were refugees in Taiwan and their leader a US appointed military governor. It is not a Taiwanese policy. Imagine two car thieves arguing over who has the right to take your car. Contrary to what your video says, Tsai Ing-wen's government of Taiwan did not subscribe to this policy, as she put it, "Taiwan has no reason to declare its independence from China because it has never been Chinese," and she is correct about that.
    Another thing you get very wrong, Taiwan cannot 'reunify' or 'team back up', because it was never Chinese in the first place. The only foreign power that can say that it controlled the island, over the past 6000 years, is Japan, 1895, technically until the Peace with Japan in 1951, when they relinquished claims on Taiwan, and assigned them to ... no one.
    Really take a look at the citation. The work is well researched.

    Taiwan had been part of China for the past centuries. There were no election or whatever political systems. Changes from one dynasty to another could be similar to 'civil war.' The common and ordinary people in those days had no choice of who their leader should be.
    To them their loyalty were to China and not individuals irregardless of who and what the new leadership and dynasty would be called and known as.
