China may have 2 million active troops You need to remove from that number those that are used for garrison duties around the Chinese border, on the artificial island and their massive deployments on the Indian border. If China removed its Indian border Garrisons (not border guards) India would move into the disputed territory and build fortified posts so the amount of active fitting troops less support and admin would be under 500.000 guys with guns and the support would be 200.000 maybe a bit hard to juggle. oops not to forget other countries with Chinese troops deployed like Tibet and Mongolia these troops can not be moved back home and would have to stay in place. with all the deployed troops you do the math 500.000 & 200.000 may overstated??

Not to mention the fact that China has virtually no reserves. They can’t take the chance of having armed forces that they don’t have an iron grip over. A huge amount of Chinese training time is devoted to ideological indoctrination. The Taiwanese on the other hand have universal conscription for men. Previously, it was active duty for training only. Recently, they increased the conscription too I believe over a year. If they fully activated all of their reserves, they would have over 800,000 troops.

China invade Taiwan? I hardly think so. And there are three good reasons for this.
    1) Xi's position is not secure enough to risk invading Taiwan, and failing in the process. If he chooses to stay in power for the rest of his life he will not risk throwing it all away like Putin is doing in Ukraine. China has a great deal to lose and very little to gain.
    2) Invading Taiwan is easier said than done. The Taiwan Straight is notorious for any sort of troop transport. Even with all their missiles the PLA would be sitting ducks as they headed towards Taiwan's beaches. And even a moderately well disciplined force would then proceed to slaughter the PLA on the beaches if they didn't get blown out of the water on the way in.
    3) The USA and Japan, plus other regional powers, would likely come to Taiwan's aid should the CCP decide on using force to control Taipei.
Additionally there will be significant financial loss for China if they went to war with Taiwan. There would be certain disruption in Pacific theatre commerce, and severe sanctions for them to deal with. Not to mention loss of units on their borders and the risk what allies they have might turn on them and use the opportunity to seize their territory.
Things would go very poorly if Xi's CCP chose to invade. What is more likely is......sshhh.....
    ........(lil pinks are everywhere.)

Anyone who knows anything about the situation knows it makes no sense for China to invade Taiwan .. the problem is that China's economy is fast collapsing into the toilet and the CCP's stronghold is getting weaker. The danger is not that China will do it because it makes sense, but as the last writhings of Xi and the CCP in spite of the fact it would completely wreck China.

    • @theEVILone0130
      @theEVILone0130 25 дней назад +7

The main reason the talking heads fear China will invade (sooner rather than later) are due to a couple of reasons.
First is the long term decline in population. Due to the party's one child program. It has left china with a population decline that will take generations to undue the damage done with the one child program. Mainly is because the population is dropped to a level that there are more retiries than workers by almost 3 to 1 ratio. So by 2027 they physically can provide the military with the forces after 2027 without crippling their economy by pulling workers off jobs for military service but if they don't the number of soldiers will be too low for a quick victory and it will turn into another Ukraine.
The second is related to the first. And that is due to there are too few females to build the population since the one child program that resulted in the death of the majority of babies born during that time period. So that limits the female to male ratio of 1 to 4. So 3/4 of the men won't have a Chinese wife if they can get permission to get married to a foreign national their children will suffer from racism and be ostracized because they are mixed. So after 2027 the population decline will lead to China most likely giving up control of Mongolia, and Tibet along with the disputed border area with India. So they are in a position of three years if they wish to unify before it becomes impossible logistically due to manpower shortages.

Taiwan may be interested in the japaneese electromagnetic rail gun that they are dumping tons of money on. As a line of sight counterbto fast hypersonic missles, a rail gun offers rapid direct fire as long as the guns are up high enough, Taiwan has steep maintains that may make it suitable as a railgun battery site. Range is more tied to total hight and earth's curvature to target to 3 gorges

It's theoretically possible, but at least with publicly known technology (batteries and gun barriers for that range are much bigger than missile launchers), the logistics chain needed for such a thing would be quite sensitive to being discovered and attacked. If you consider opportunity cost, you would be better off with a ballistic missile submarine (that is mobile) rather than a big gun.
Think of the extremely large cannons (railway guns, V-3 cannon) that were built in World War II: there were analysts calculating how many tanks, bombers, or conventional artillery pieces you could have built for the cost of operating one of those guns.
That said I don't think any physics say the cannon would always be worse than ballistic missiles: if we evolved electromagnetic technology and mass drivers more than we did rocket and internal combustion engine technology like a lot of alt-history in steampunk plot lines, the cannon would be "cheaper".

Chicom has another dilemma. They have some reasonably advanced Texas Instruments and Raytheon guidance chips all made by Taiwan Semi-conductor. Every chip has a bootstrap firmware backdoor. Guess who has the entry key? They can use inferior domestic chips, less reliable less precise. Or they can use unguided missiles. All will deplete the inventory very fast, aircraft, missiles, command control and ships .

Would be really interesting to check the full analysis of how exactly the chip crysis could impact the daily life of average consumer. As I understand it now I have a smartphone or a car or computer, and it feels like I don't need to update it every year, can use my smartphone for the next 4-5 years without any sacrifices of productivity, and car can run for 10 more years without repairs that requires chip replacement, my computer will be able to run office apps for the next 5 years for sure. What could be so scary about it?
