The Addams Family Album with John Astin (1992)

- John Astin reminisces about the TV series in this little-known retrospective that aired on a local station in Chicago on November 18, 1992. Includes original commercials. I originally included a bunch of detailed chapter stops throughout the program, but I cut it down to 6 "Parts" to minimize RUclips commercials caused by a fraudulent copyright claim.

Gomez and Morticia, the most functional relationship ever.
Tish & Boobala
We should all be so lucky 🦇
Absolutly! 💐♥️😍
@@Peter-em2dr Tish and Bubbeleh.
That's because she was never nasty or bitchy towards him. Ladies, as you face your husband in the divorce court, think on this 😢
wonderful tv show to grow up with back then , i just loved addams family, munsters, bewitched, i dream of jeannie, star trek, twilight zone, outer limits, alfred hitchcock hour , , Aaaaaah the greatness just went on and on ! ! ! ! !
This Addams Family was the most loving family ever on TV. The characters all loved each other, and the actors loved each other and had fun.
Got to hang with John a few times in the 80's and he couldn't have been a nicer human being.
I love how he speaks of other cast members, you can tell he cared and enjoyed working with them
I cannot identify another set of married television series characters in the 1960s that had more overt sexuality between them than the Addams couple. Carolyn Jones played it exquisitely. If Morticia had been frigid, it would have never worked. She had to exude an identifiable eroticism, but in a reserved and dignified manner. Carolyn Jones was perfect for the part.
Perfect description!

Much appreciated. I am honored and humbled by your comment.
It’s the first TV show that had a married couple in a bed together in a series rather than two twin beds. Lucy and Ricky twin beds, Donna Reed show, etc, didn’t.

Blasphemous for its time. What episode?
Your claim is false. It wasn't The Munsters either, or Bewitched.
Growing up in the 60's, I truly enjoyed watching The Addams Family. Even if I could only get it on a UHF channel and through horrible static, even with aluminum foil on the rabbit ear antenna, it was still worth watching!
And just like with Rocky and Bullwinkle, this comedy writing team had vision and creativity that can still be appreciated 60 years later! 😁👍
John Astin was probably my first crush ever as a kid. Sixty years later, he's still adorable. He looks like he'd be so much fun! 🥰♥️
Who wouldn't want Gomez as a husband. Attentive, loving, supportive and he thought his wife was the most beautiful woman in the world. Bonus he was a loving, hands on father. Every woman should be so lucky!
Gomez set a great example as a husband and as a Father.
Don't forget rich
It’s interesting that John Astin’s Gomez had an incident on set that almost cost an eye, because Raul Julia’s Gomez in the movie had his eye actually pop out of it’s socket when he rubbed an itch during filming.
I love this. I love the Addams Family, and memory lane for these commercials is super fun. I loved Carolyn Jones in the pod people and she was the Only Morticia. Great video.
Good humor,real good family,kind faces,warm energetic,elegant ledy,he loves her again and avain,it miracle.
You said it she was definitely the only Morticia
@Russell Collier wasn’t that Lily Munster?
The Addams Family AND old commercials is like my version of peanut butter and chocolate! I love both immensely and even better together. Thanks for posting this wonderful video…and for keeping in the ads. 😊
bless his heart, I've loved him since I saw him on "That Touch of Mink" when I was a kid. Then, seeing him in the Addams Family made him that much better. (I'm 38 and was raised on old entertainment). 🖤
This post is SPECTACULAR!!!! Thank you SO much.
I love you John Astin, you are for ever Gomez Addams for me ❤
I enjoyed the commercials just as much as the program. Thanks.
lol me, too . it has that good old 90's feel to it
ruclips.net/video/sf9038zMVgo/видео.html lmao
I grew up with The Addams Family series and I still love watching them 🖤
How great to see them all... I miss them so much 🤧🖤
Wednesday's middle name was Friday. I distinctly remember Morticia telling someone that on the phone.
What a wonderful treat! I love the Addams Family TV series. Thanks for posting this rarity.
It would be awesome if John Astin wrote a book. Sure it would be a best seller!
I just love ❤️ the fact that Morticia and Gomez have great chemistry in the show and I love them 😍
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH. IT BECAME MY FAVORITE TV SHOW BECAUSE OF THEIR CHEMISTRY.....WHAT A TREAT.....THANK YOU,
John is my dawg, I will forever love this show and this beautiful cast that was in it.
Thank you for posting this. Great to see John.
John Astin seems like a very nice person. I wish I might have someday encountered him in public like I once had "Lurch" I'll never, ever forget the time I met Ted Cassidy in a Sears department store candy line in Glendale, California(I lived "next door" in Eagle Rock). My good friend "John" who was just ahead of me in line whispered to me, "Hey Marty, look how tall that guy that just walked up in back of you is, he's a giant!" I thought I'd turn around and pretend to "just be looking for a wall clock to only see what time is was getting to be", and when I glanced up I saw "Lurch" without any makeup or costume! I recognized him right away, who wouldn't? Well, I wanted to say something to him, but I couldn't think of a single thing to say that didn't sound stupid, so I just threw a "fun knee" joke at him by saying, "Hey kid, you here to get free popcorn too!?". Mr. Cassidy's eyes grew a sparkle letting me know he thought what I said was funny, me calling him a kid and all, then he groaned out in true Lurch fashion, "PEEEEENUT.... MMMMMM & MMMMMMS!". Then we talked for a couple of minutes. I told him I was there to get new school clothes, he told me he was just browsing, but that he might pick up some new tools while he was there. That was on a Sunday afternoon. On Monday, I had the best bragging rights story to share before school, during breaks between classes, at lunch and after school let out too. I was 13 and in 7th grade going to a school that was Jr and Sr high, grades 7-12. Even the big kids wanted to hear what me and Lurch talked about, and where we had met. The show had ended by then, 1970. But they still showed reruns at the time.
John Austin the Goat of the Addams Family Series.
This aired in 92’ about the same time I started to watch these original episodes of The Addams Family reruns on BBC2 happy memories, still watching them today
🖤🖤🖤 this series was the best thing ever made
John Astin and Carolyn Jones - two of the most talented character actors in LA at the time… Check out “Burke’s Law” - Jones plays five different characters in one episode. It’s a fun early Arron Spelling detective show. I always enjoy these actors when they turn up in movies or tv shows. ❤️
In the episode where Wednesday runs away from home, the missing persons detective takes a missing persons report from Morticia over the phone. After learning the little girl's name is Wednesday, he scarcastically asks Morticia if the girl's middle name is Thursday, to which Morticia responds, "No, (it's) Friday". Here's the clip containing the scene: ruclips.net/video/4bOMOHX93Do/видео.html
“Dear mom and dad, I hate you.
Love, Wednesday Adams.”
🤣🤣🤣
It's funny how this is considered cannon now that is her middle name.
John Astin is now 93 ; his birthday was in March. Wednesday from original -living and Cousin It from Addams Halloween -living. I love watching Addams.
The original Wednesday dead not that long ago John is the only living member left now
Love the Addams Family from the 60’s, along with Bewitched and The Munsters
Thank You So Much for Posting This Awesome Learned Some New Facts.
Ted Cassidy was a trained organist, he had been employed in a department store to play the organ.
What a great show!
The 60s show was abosulutely amazing. I used to watch reruns in the 80s and 90s always loved it. Ive since watched most of it on RUclips several times. I thought I`ve seen them all but now I see scenes I don`t remember so I`ll search :) .
Granny Frump was named Hester, her brother was Fester. The movies messed that up making Fester Gomez' brother and Wednesday the older sibling.
Yes. I've watched the 90s adaptation first then the original series from '64. One thing thats been bothering me since is that the 90s movie adaptation really messed the Addams family tree up.
Yeah I totally forgot Wednesday was supposed to be the younger
Timeless classic. I have the box set and have watched it numerous times. The show is in my top 5 of all time. Movies not so much.
Values is a good one.
The Addams family was a huge part of my childhood and to present day I love this plus I can't thank you enough for keeping the commercials in
This family album video is priceless, a copy should be preserved in the TV Academy as there’s information in this video found nowhere else. Thank you for uploading this treasure.
I love the Addams family thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Any Addams family video is a must-see
Any Vinnie Rattolle video is a must see.
I thought Wednesday's middle name was Friday. it was in an episode when she ran away from home.
Just watched that one the other day.
Yes you are correct
John Astin and Raul Julia will always be Gomez Addams for me
Grew up watching the Addams family, I watch it on youtube frequently !
thanks for posting
John Astin’s Gomez is my role model
While Raul Julia absolutely aced the role of Gomez, we should credit Astin for coming up with the characteristics that Julia acted. It was his idea to have Morticia and Gomez comically passionate about themselves.
Wednesday Friday Addams- said in episode Wednesday Leaves Home. I just saw it yesterday 😂. Lol. Awesome show ❤
After all these years I am still in love with Carolyn Jones's Morticia... she spoke French after all.
this was by the time he reprised his role as Gomez in ABC Saturday Morning cartoon version of The Addams Family based on the 1991 movie
THANK YOU VERY MUCH :'))
haha i had no idea Robbie the Robot was on the show
Still can’t believe the fact that in the tv show, uncle fester was morticia’s uncle.
Still can't believe the fact that the movie is regarded as a beloved classic.
I remember hearing a reason they changed it but I can't remember exactly. Something about a different direction with the character
these commercials are taking me back to wasier times. lmao
Best the best no deve faltar en un colesionista
So great to see this. Outside of the fact that he was doing "Lend Me A Tenor" in Chicagoland at the time, how did this all come about?
Can't say, but the writer/director's LinkedIn page refers to it as an "Addams Family Values" special. That wasn't released until the next year, but clearly they were riding on the wave of the movies' success.
I’m here for the nostalgic 90s commercials tbh.
Wednesday’s full name was Wednesday Friday Addams. As per Wednesday leaves home.
She is and was beautiful
35:42 So that's what inspired Yoko Ono ....😱😖😂
I think Lurch singing must have been her inspiration. 🤫
My favorite TV show. Love the Munsters and Dick Van Dyke, but Addams family will always be my favorite. Only recent show that compares is The Big Bang Theory. The movies...watched the first two...once. Did not enjoy the movies.
1992, that's when Tim Burton's movie came out; John Astin said he never saw it for good reason as to not get dragged into things
I Loved this show . Tye charade yers , the acting. The whole
Production. It was hilarious . I wrote a take off version of the Addams caning calle the Qeordo fa
Inky and is Ted KD French that drove Gomez wild , my character spoke jungle talk.
This is pretty cool and very rare T.V Special on the Classic 60s Original T.V series Addams family narrated by Mr. Gomez Addams himself reflecting back on the hit show and it's Fond memories of the rest of the Addams es ..boy though since this was done for T.V as a special on the Addams Family back in early 1990s when the paramount 1991 Movie got released and due to the movie being a hit ..all of a sudden there was this big resurface of the old classic 1960s T.v show..but yea as I was saying what could've made this special even mote cool is to have reunited John Astin along with the 2 Addams children played by Lisa Loring who played little Wednesday and Pugsley his son played by Ken Weatherwax..those two were on a talk show together I seen back in the early 90s I think it's up on you tube but yea im sure if someone would have asked them to just make this t v special with John Astin and reunited dressed back into their old character clothing ..kinda like how they did for that 1977 TV reunion show halloween with the Addams Family . But of course they'd be much older version of pugsley and Wednesday talking along side John Astin as shown here.. and maybe also u could have thing make a special appearance from a black box on a table just to say hi..but of course they'd have to have got some body who'd be willing to use their hand as Thing cause I think the original thing from the series died who was also Lurch Mr. Ted Cassidy.
Funny how marriage counselors used to tell their clients want to see a healthy marriage watch the Addams family..I always loved this show much cooler than the Munsters and I loved Morticia I even went as her for Halloween as a kid once..but I think fester and lurch were my other favorites besides wensday and pugsley 😂lol
I don't know about that I thought Wednesday's middle name was Friday after her Friday the 13th birthday. WPWR's research dept didn't do their research properly. Tsk tsk
To think only John Astin is the only remaining main character of the show.
Thing T Thing or Thing Thing Thing !
Rip morticia.
Her name was not Wednesday Thursday Adams it was Wednesday Friday, I remember because when she goes to school or was it when she ran away and her mother is making a report or some thing she says what’s her name her name her full name and she says Wednesday Friday Adams not Wednesday Thursday.
19:54 Aronson Furniture

Predated Yoko Ono.
No it didn't.
Yoko is a beatnik, not a hippie.
She was well in business well before The Beatles even existed as a band,
before they were even out of high school.
Also made some movies.
Look up a movie called : "Satan's Bed".

Those who don't get it, don't get that they don't get it.
The last trivia answer is wrong. And that's all I'm gonna say.
Whoa.
The trivia on Wednesday Addams middle name is not Thursday. It is Friday.
😍😢
Libere a legenda por favor
Montel was a night show?
Gomez and Morticia were an average couple. But they only had 2 kids. The average number of kids is 2 1/2. There must have been another 1/2 kid stashed away somewhere !
Why haven’t the commercials been cut out?
Because people get weirdly nostalgic about commercials. That's why I included chapters.
21:23 Epic 😎
Wonderful...except all those old commercials should have been edited out of it...keeping the trivia spots, of course. I've been a fan of the Addamd Family since it first came on TV when I was a kid. I loved them, wanted to move in with them. And I discovered the cartoons of Charles Addams, and I've collected books of them. I guess there's no hope for me!
I like seeing old commercials.
Narrated by Harry Shearer
how many adds dose it take to get to the end of the video.....the world may never know............
Unfortunately Lisa Loring died earlier this year
57:21 Empire
It's Wednesday FRIDAY Addams I wonder how the narrator got that wrong
Morticia sings like Yoko Ono.
In Wendsday leaves home Morticia tells the detective her name is Wendsday Friday Addams
Lurch says the digbys
Gomez still looks almost the same.
🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊
He reminds me of a British comedian called "Eric Sykes" .
57:43
haha somebody dump a bucket of ice water on Gomez lol..he can use it 😂..yuck Peter sellers why insult Gomez like that lol the other two sure but the third comparison really should be pepe le pew 😅
why is the Door Bell A NOOSE>
It's part of the creepy and kooky look of the home. Some things were supposed to be scary, but the Adam's never saw their things as scary or not the norm. I guess after watching these reruns as a kid I didn't even notice.
That being said, I think the newer movies just used a cord to avoid any negativity. It is a bit shocking, but if you watch any full episodes here on RUclips you will see they are the most loving and accepting family that has ever been on TV.
Gomez and Morticia were the best husband and wife team.....ever next to Herman and Lily
