What is unique about Onstar and GM offering it across all their brands is exactly that - you can get it on any of the cars they sell. No other brand does that except for Subaru now which recently with its system matches GM - on a small number of models. Mercedes, Audi, Lexus - they offer this on some or all of their cars now, but their sister brands (Smart, VW, Toyota) don't offer the same technology. It is what is coming to all the autos now just that GM was first and is much more advanced in most cases because of that early lead starting back in the 1990s.
I am a big fan of the hands free end of it, just call em up and tell them where you want to go. Such a neat, easy to use feature. Much easier than learning a factory nav system for some....

I love OnStar. Safe and Secure is a great feature. I had an older discontinued OnStar FMV mirror installed on my 2012 Prius. Easy installation. I wish they had not discontinued the FMV mirror as with all the new technology I am sure it would be better ans smaller.

Not sure why I would pay money for OnStar
They should allow accident with airbag deployed to all for free and have your auto insurance company pay a flat per incident fee for non members because most people have cell phone for talking or data and directions and dont want to pay double bills just to get the most serious issue of accident assistance…this could also save insurance money and lives.. since its available its a shame not to use it because of cost over risk benefit.. or as a second option im sure the accident victim would gladly pay a small one time fee so why isnt this on the table by law?

Anyone who has Onstar in their GM vehicle, the hands-free calling button that provides a number of minutes to call somebody beside the blue Onstar button is now discontinued. It first came out in 1996. Glad they discontinued the feature because of the amount of money it cost to buy minutes.

Why do they tell you it’s a three month free trial then start charging you something you don’t want ??? Wouldn’t you call them if you wanted it ? Why do the just start charging you ? I think they are deceitful , misrepresented themselves

My old friend from my high school days explained how on star works with turn by turn hands free calling emergency services turn by turn navigation and virtual advisor I can take a driving class to earn a license while passing the tests I will be getting a Silverado hd pickup.

Good in-depth review... but I really don't want any of this nonsense in my next car... are all Chevy vehicles fitted with Onstar standard whether you like it or not?
It's a pricey but neat service. Most GM products come with it from the factory, but you choose to pay for it or not. You can even negotiate with them to get a better rate.
OnStar is standard with most Chevy & GM Vehicles-I have one in my 2013 Chevrolet Equinox

I’m an Indian and my English accent suck...so onstar and voice recognition will be useless for me...haha. Not only that talking to a live OnStar agent and tell where you are going is just a way for them to track or spy on you. I rather use my google map or Apple map for navigation.
OnStar is more than just navigation. Automatic crash response can call for help even if you're completely unconscious after a crash, they can run diagnostics on certain vehicles if a warning light pops up, automatically slow down your car if you report it's been stolen, etc etc.

Onstar is bullshit I have it on my 2015 Camaro and I will be disabling it as soon as I find out how
Some people don't like the service, totally understand. One of my vehicles had the module unplugged - very simple and easy to do. You could also pull a couple fuses. Best of luck!

My son-in-law had a rental it had on Star in it he had left the key fob back at the house they called OnStar and told them other issues and problem OnStar did nothing on Stars worthless I would not bother with this company I'm glad I never bought it and I would never buy it especially after what I saw 2 hours later luckily we had somebody bring the key fob to the car no thanks to OnStar
Maybe buy some punctuation at least.
OnStar only works with a subscription. Plus, I'm pretty sure they rip the OnStar module out of rentals.
