    I was at a Kia dealership around 2013 looking at an Optima I believe, and saw on the ripoff sticker "ADM $5,000" I asked the sales guy "What is ADM?" He replied "Additional Dealer Markup, we would be selling these at a loss if we didn't charge that!" I laughed in his face and left the dealership.

    Unfortunately dealers choose to make buying a car a miserable experience. Apparently return business is not part of their business model

    • @edprior2821

      I just don't understand this. I'm in the fortunate position that I could afford to buy a car every 3-4 years but the dealership experience is so miserable that I keep my old jalopy running as long as I can to avoid dealing with the dealer garbage. Had they treated me even moderately decent they could have had a customer for life, but I guess one big profit sale was worth more than five reasonable ones.

    • @chrisbarbz9238
      @chrisbarbz9238 12 дней назад

      Nah. They've cornered the market (or so they think) and are counting people's impulse to buy buy buy and misguided people are biting. But I agree that's an absolute sure-fire way to turn off a frugal, critical-thinking customer.

    • @JacksonWalter735
      @JacksonWalter735 8 дней назад

      For real. My sister married a Japanese guy that she met in college and moved to Japan afterwards. I visited her this summer vacation and she took me to a Toyota dealership to buy her first car there. It was a night and day difference compared to the stealerships here who added a mandatory dealership package addon and a market adjustment price on top of the MSRP when I was buying a Ford Maverick for college

    • @AkioWasRight
      @AkioWasRight 6 дней назад

      That's because return salesmen aren't apart of the business model. The turn over rate in sales and management is high, while they still have to meet performance targets in the limited time they work for these dealerships. This results in people who say and do just about anything to make a sale. They couldn't care less about what you do 3, 6 or 20 years from now.
      Really, if you're looking to be return customer to a dealer, that's like a woman who's looking for relationship with a guy interested in one-night stand.

    Leased my last Mercedes and was in the financial guys office to sign papers. When he printed out the contract for me to sign I noticed a few things. The advertised acquisition fee from the website was $700. My contract said $900 for acquisition fee. I also found I was being charged $300 for the lost key insurance I never asked for. I looked at him and then proceeded to X out those lines. Then I said while you’re printing out a new contract take off the 3 year maintenance fee I was going to buy. You are going to offer that to me for nothing because I’ve bought 3 other cars from this dealership! I then looked him in the eye and said “ if you try to argue or say sorry that was a mistake, I’m walking right now. He didn’t say a word. I signed the papers and walked out with the car. I still have the car 6 years later. I ended up buying it under replacement cost.

    I used to work for a Cadillac service department. I encouraged every customer to look at a factory extended warranty. I did this because I was trying to minimize their out-of-pocket repair costs. I had customers that in three successive months they had mechanical breakdowns each between 1500 and $2000 at the time I believe the cost for a 500 deductible was around $1600-$1800. I think zero deductible plan was just over 2000. I further explained that in my opinion getting the zero deductible would pay itself off in a pretty short amount of time, I can’t tell you how many times, customers come back to me and thank me for recommending the extended warranty with zero deductible! My own personal opinion if you buy your reliable car such as a Toyota or Honda maybe, you can skip an extended warranty. It all boils down to your comfort level and your budget.

It's cheap and I paid cash so I really didn't care about the fees too much. Though I am planning to buy a Merc later this year so this video will hopefully be useful. I hate bs fees. BY the way, San Antonio BMW has the worst bs fees of the ones in central Texas.

      Florida is one of the worst states in the country for this. I have a video coming up geared towards Florida people. The obvious first thing you do is walk away from the dealership. Secondly, you can shop anywhere in the country. Find a vehicle that you’re looking for and ship it to Florida and still be cheaper than buying your car and an actual floor dealership. So look at that option too.

      Yes 100%. There are a couple different ways you can negotiate this out. 1 you could do a factory order for the same vehicle without the paint protection 2. you could do a dealer swap if those are available 3. go to another dealer that doesn’t do it. If it’s on the factory window sticker, then it’s a legit charge. What you don’t want to pay for is if there’s charges on a separate sheet of paper to the right or left of the window sticker. Google dealer addendum stickers and you can see the various kinds they use and you will know what to look for when you’re on the dealership lot.
