Do you remember the Dodge A 100 pickup from the early 60s?
Talk about the new Toyota Yaris that's really a Mazda 2.
Hey scotty can you help me get a truck I'll pay you back
Hi Scotty just wondering what your thoughts on a 1995 Lexus sc400. There is one for sale on Craigslist with 216k and the person is asking 3k you think it's worth it? Thanks
Scotty Kilmer Scotty I have a 05 Ford Explorer with a 4.0 motor and it was perfect until one day I put it in reverse it wouldn’t move at all. Neither on drive or any other gear.
Scotty says a vehicle is good deal, price on Craig's List immediately doubles...
I swear theres some truth to that.
I got a 03 ranger that needs work..... maybe it's time to list it on scotty'slist
I just looked and there was some high mileage ones for 10k+😑
People in Cali want 6k for there rangers it’s actually stupid. Even the old beat up ones they want 3k and 1k for one that had a damn blown engine and poop interior. Crazy. Ford rangers are only worth 1-2k max people are tripping. AND I OWN A 04 RANGER I’m thinking I should sell it.
Go to Utah or some crappy Midwest state to buy cars. Morons in coastal states often times overprice their cars.
My father and I used to go to junk yards and find parts for our vehicles in the 90's. I really miss those times, RIP Dad.
I know what you mean. Went to the big pick-a-part in L.A. with a boyfriend and the place smelled like my dad who was always working on our cars - the grease, dirt and sweat, but in a good way. Turns out it would have been his birthday.
@@brendadeatherage4543 lmao you know that girl a real one when she get's dad vibes in a scrap yard. "Is that my dads cologne??" -"Nope its 10w40 mixed with I need a shower"
“It’s a nice little pick up” SAID EVERY RANGER OWNER EVER
Stfu
Smoke God I think you meant Tacoma
Loved mine until it got to 150k
@@issag5764 😆 yep I knew someone would say that
AMEN. Don't buy the new one, buy a six pack of the old ones, keep a few spares.
My dad bought a 98 Ford Ranger brand new in 2000. Got a discount on it for a little bit of hail damage. Used it as his daily driver for 17 years and put approximately 430,000 miles on it. Never had the engine/transmission rebuilt/replaced. Very solid truck indeed Scotty!
What happened to the truck?
I agree what happened to this truck?
98?..thanks
Ahh, that warm fuzzy feeling when Scottie says he likes the vehicle you own!
Same here
LMMFAO!!!!! 😁😆😅🤣😂😄
1:06 😂 you can haul a reasonable amount of stuff on it
Breaks handle
Yesss😂
ha!
to be fair, the handle broke the same way on my '06 ranger sport, turned out to be easy and cheap to replace. i even upgraded from the OEM plastic to an aftermarket metal handle
Robert Pendergast haha! Good eye.
If you look to the left it says Toyota. The reason the handle broke is it was using the same plastic part as the 2007 Toyota Matrix
Toxy Riiiiiiiight. Is that what you think a dealership emblem means?
Mazda B3000
“ChisFix has entered the chat.”
😎👌
😂😂
Not anymore. Abandoned for his new hummer
KIRB S T O M P E D I wouldn’t say abandoned just he doesn’t use it as much as he did back then cuz he got his dream car
@Andrew Martina tbh i dont really like hummers but good for him
Why I always laugh when Scotty says "junkyards" and shows pictures of Fiat and Chevrolet dealers? XD
Because it’s funny
@@JaRa911 Its the gods honest truth Chrysler is garbage.
I've had 5 Rangers over the years and they are some of the best trucks made. They were cheap, reliable and tough. I still have an 01 that I bought when I was 19 years old. Great little trucks
yep agree.....
FYI the manual transmissions are made in Japan. We cleared them thru Customs for FMC.
They used Mazda M5OD-R1 transmissions, which are quite good. They don't perform like the 5-speeds in a Honda Civic, because it's a truck, but they can last very long!
buck shot Ford and Mazda partnered for quite a while.
buck shot yep ! Mazda transmission, they also used similar ones in f150 , Aerostar , thunderbird in the late 80’s to mid 90’s
The later, 2.3 inline fours are Mazda products as well, so it's possible to have an entirely Mazda power train in these trucks. However, that's not to say the other choices are bad.. maybe the sohc 4.0 due to timing chain problems.
@Carmicha3lthat's Vulcan 80s design for you: 4 cyl performance with V6 fuel economy. On the bright side those cast iron engines are bulletproof. 300k+ miles are not uncommon
That “used rear end” pic! 🤣🤣🤣
Each it's pretty gross. Shudder shudder.
It looked WELL USED. If you know what I mean?
"Used rear end"=bubble butt" 😂😂😂Scotty you are killin me

@@asdfghjqwertyu1858 Yup I live in Toronto
If only Ford chose to bring these back instead of the new overpriced crap.
Overpriced and only 4 wheel drive. I had been waiting to replace my 2006 Ranger with the new Ranger but I am not interested in 4wd and the extra cost of it so my old Ranger will be replaced with a new Tacoma.
@@oto169 Exactly! I would be happy if they simply brought beck the old Ranger with updated suspension - and WITHOUT fancy electronics, video displays, electronic controls - retaining the reliable mechanical controls easy to use without looking ot when wearing gloves.
imagine a 4 door Ranger but with the old look! omg I'd love it
@@TomTomTom87 Screw four doors and a bed the size of car trunk. A supercab is all that is justified. Buy a van to take the kids to soccer practice.
That applies to every car company. I don't want all that electronic cap but I have no choice. I don't even want power breaks let alone anti lock brakes. I do want an ash tray and cigarette lighter though, but i can't have that!
Have a 1994 ford ranger... v6 Vulcan, 115000 miles... it’s my donkey. It hauls what I need, starts all the time. Perfect. Easy to work on
Love my little Ford ranger ... I paid $800 for it 12 years ago. Still going till this day 2/14/21
Still running? I want one.😅
Bro, I paid a mind boggling 6,500 for mine; essentially a pre-rust bucket with tons of problems. Dumped another 5,000 into it for repairs and parts; yet i absolutely love it. Horrible gas mileage as a 4.0 but it just keeps TRUCKIN'.

I just got myself a 99 B4000 w/ 171k miles. I am quite pleased that I found a video of Scotty speaking about this truck. I am now 5x happier with my purchase. Parts are cheap as F too!
Scotty I currently am the proud owner and original owner of a 1999 Ford Ranger 4 x 4. I’m getting new tires put on it tomorrow and it’s still just as reliable as the day I bought it. I keep up with my own maintenance and I love telling people I haven’t had a car payment and over 18 years. I’m 38. Keep up the great work Scotty!!!
Nice "rear end" there.
Jajajahahhahaha
I wonder if that rear end had posi?
shes got some junk in that trunk
Very used rear end
@@galagoz7401 "plenty of miles ,in fair condition, currently accepting offers"
I picked up a 99 Ranger for $1000 from my friend trading it in for Camero. It had only 66K miles. Now 6 years later it still runs great at 125K miles. No major repairs. 👍🇺🇸 My best car deal yet.
My cousin had one of these with the 2.3 4-cylinder. It got 250,000 miles then the odometer stopped. Then he drove it as his daily driver for about seven more years before he finally sold it. It also had the 5-speed standard.
My family had a 1987 b2200 Mazda. Had over 500,000mi when my dad got rid of it. Very few problems over the years (alternator and fuel pump were the only things replaced other than the usual tires, windshield, battery, oil, filters, etc) and still had the original clutch when he got rid of it.
Luck in a junkyard, *shows Fiat dealership*
Lol

Man dont talk to fiat like that you know what happens when they get pissed they drive themselfs to volacano and blow them selfup and you know they have the best rearview mirrors. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 the thing is they do have the best riewview mirrors masterpiece.

Makes sense.
Scotty felt bad for bashing chrisfix's Hummer so he made this video!

These are great vehicles, grandpa has had 2 regular cab ford rangers. Both 2.3L manual, first one he sold at 200k and the one he has now has 250k and still running great.
You just helped a lot of people get rid of their pickups. 👍 got a twenty year old Ford ranger and she still runs great.
That "rear end" gave me a good laugh.
Greatings from Slovakia (central Europe.) Scotty. I respect youre work here.
My first truck was a 1986 Mazda B2000. I loved that thing.
I bought a traded in 1986 Mazda B2000 and it's been a great ride. Saved it from the wholesale auction. Not bad on gas. Only rusted out part was the exhaust so I used that as an excuse to replace with a pace setter header and magnaflow muffler, and while I was at it put in a Weber 32/36 carburetor. While I've got a better bottom end she's still slow but I don't really care about speed in a 30+ year old inline 4.
Dang it Scotty! Ranger's have been skyrocketing in value without your help. Take this video down.
My Ranger is not for sale! :D
I have a Ford Ranger 2.3 and I 100% agree. Its on 200k miles and still running clean
It was sad to see Ford discontinue the Crown Victoria and Ranger in 2011. They were older cars, but they were very good. I love old school cars.
I got one back in '98 brand new for $9k, no AC, not even a tape player, just a radio. I drive a BMW650i now...but I miss my old pick up truck
300k on my 94 3.0 ranger. 5 speeds and 3 pedals baby!
DSTY Yeah that’s the reason why I got a 4.6 V8 Mustang. Same engine as crown Vic’s but weigh a lot less.
I remember the last few months the Ranger was still being made there were a few local Ford dealers selling 2.3/5 speed 2WD rangers for $11k. Wanted one, just didn't have much of a use for one.
I used to haul new cars and I had people argue with me when I told them they were made at the Ford plant in Edison New Jersey ! Good little pickups
I remember when the Ford Ranger and the Chevy S-10's were first made. My Dad was totally fascinated by them. He said they are just like regular pickup trucks, only scaled down. It was an amusing event to see these truck on the road. They took America like a storm.
One thing on the ranger, replacement parts are astoundingly cheap. Though I had to fix my 1994 a lot, the parts total was always lower than a monthly car payment.
I got an 04 Ranger 4.0L 300k miles. She’s my daily. Paints still perfect
Must have been waxed regularly! Very cool!
I’ve got an 04 Ranger 4.0L FX4 with 286k. I’m the original owner and it’s my daily driver as-well. I’m glad to hear yours is still running strong.
@@TheAverageUSGamer I Also Have an '05 RANGER and Enjoy It!! Very Reliable has Taken Me Along The East Coast. Had a B3000 as well. Best Vehicle I Ever Owned!! Have two, 98 and a 99, 4.0 auto, 4wd. Both over 200k. Drive them every day.
But any of your guys’ rangers red? Tbh all the colors of the ranger where nice
When I bought my Ranger I was looking for a Toyota or a Ford/Mazda. I knew both were going to be reliable vehicles. Almost 13 years later I'm still driving my 2003 Ranger Edge 4WD 3.0l. It was my daily work truck and now it's my weekend play toy and it doesn't miss a beat.
I had the same thing going, just from the other end. I had a 1997 Ford Ranger extended cab, with a great 4 cylinder Mazda engine, standard transmission. It got great gas mileage.
I have an 85 Ford ranger with a 5spd 528,000 on the 2.8 v6. Refuses to die.
It's also carbureted
"Die" is a relative term. I drove a 94 Taurus that had the transmission go out in 2016 but as far as my wife was concerned, the car "died" around 2006 She refused to set foot in it.
@@gemini291 what I mean by "die" is that it's running on original everything, except brakes and wheel bearings of course, and somehow hasn't had any catostrophic failures...yet...
528k miles on the 2.8? Wow, that's impressive!
Naaah..worst pick up truck ever. Died on the road many times, carburator, horrible handling and ride quality.
'84 Ranger.
Never buy Ford or GM or Dodge again.
Toyota 4 ever.
@@yeulakho6574 that was probably the nutorious tfi ignition coil failure. There was a recall, and ford would fix it under warranty, and then the problem was solved. I simply don't give a damn about ride quality, because it's just a work truck for me.
I just sold my 1993 Ford Ranger 2.3 4cyl 5 speed manual for 1600$. It had 440,000 miles on it. I'm a huge lover of these pickups and they run forever with basic maintenance.

@@motorcitymanman7711 Ford never stopped making the Ranger, they just stopped offering them in the US. They were sold overseas. Ford recently started offering them back in the US for the 2019 model year.
I NEWW IT!! ALL THESE YEARS I THOUGHT THE MAZDA TRUCK WAS AN ADOPTED TWIN FROM FORD!!!
Can't beat the older Ford Ranger! I bought my 2007 New, took care of it and runs like new at 150k
I bought a 99 Ranger with over 200k and drove it for years. The most expensive repair was replacing the timing belt. It never shifted that well and the 4 cyl was kind of low on power but it was definitely reliable.
Just bought me a 2010 used ranger. 93k miles and looks well taken care of. Thank you for your recommendation
Still good? I want one so bad.
My 4cyl ranger just rolled over 190,000 miles. Great vehicle easy to repair, cheap parts, does almost everything you need a truck to do.
Scotty saying 17/21 mpg isn't that great is something else. I got a pick up that got 12.5 mpg on the best day of its life
1:06 Scotty broke the handle
Probably it was already broken he just tucked it in then he pulled it
I thought i was seeing stuff when he pulled it he completle moved over and talked about the bedliner
I got my 2000 Ranger. 132,000 miles on it. Love to drive it. Bought it 3 years ago for $5000. Still has low miles. Looks and feels real. It's still gets better gas mileage than the F150. Good VID
I just bought a 2000 Ford ranger TrailHead addition for $500. It's a 5sp with the 3.0 v6 and has 338,000 miles on it. I had to put a new clutch kit into it but other than that it's solid. Gonna be a new work truck. Down hear in south Florida, btw.
19 yrs in a B4000 4x4 manual 286000 original timing belt what a trooper of a truck.
I said it before, I'll say it again: SCOTTY ROCKS. Thanks for all the great videos.
I wish that I still had my Ranger. I loved that truck. It was a V6, extended cab, sport, 2WD. I had great memories with it. Sad

I have one, had it for ten years engine swapped it and did almost everything you can do to it. They make great v8 swap trucks from an expo. Can't recommend them enough.
Dumb cold air intakes 😐dammit Scotty now I gotta remove it from my car
Yea, why the hate, I love mine! Really improved throttle reponse.

Take it off lol. If u wanna do something with the air flow. See if another module of car in the same family would fit. Example i know the air boxes and tubing from a late 90s integra will fit on my 7th gen civic. May have to alter the bolt down spots. But its def a better flowing deal than the stock civic box. And its easier to work under the hood cause its smaller externally than the stock box. But with a faster flow rate. Its what happens when you get bored at the junk yard lol.
They are actually hot air intake! Sucks in the hot air from under the hood. Batter to buy a k&n stock replacement and keep the cold air ducting in place
I've owned 2 Rangers. A 99 and a 94. They are by far the most reliable vehicles I've ever owned and extremely easy to work on. It's too bad they don't make a truck like this anymore.
Agreed. The only reason I stopped buying them is because Ford stopped making them.
I saw this video right after you posted it and I liked it. I checked out the local ones for sale and I ended up buying a red one just like this after my mechanic checked it out.

My 96 Ranger 4.0 lasted 330k miles. I abused the heck out of it, too. Rarely did oil changes, one tuneup, and the only major repair done was the front braking system due to my negligence in not replacing the brakes.
