The comedian tells us about modeling the special after The Last Waltz, coming up with the persona that he portrays and how growing up gay in Nashville with minister parents lent to his comedic style that turns the mirror on performative behavior and liberal posturing. The Search Party actor also reveals the stories on the songs that he and his band cover in the special, including Britney Spears’ “Overprotected” and Neil Young’s “After The Goldrush,” as well as the new material and covers that he’s taking on the road for his upcoming tour, and the attention he’s be getting since playing Taylor Swift’s son in her “Anti-Hero” video.
