For myself I prefer brown, but that's because I'm still very young and have a rather casual style (within the classic style spectrum). Also brown has a wider range of colours and ages better

Having grown up in the 1950-60s, these tips were familiar to me. It's great that you're educating contemporary young men regarding their appearance, since I believe they have been largely led astray by incongruous style choices of late. Cordovan (or Shadow Antique Brown as it was also known) was the most ubiquitous shoe color back in my high school days, since, as you noted, the shade was extremely versatile.

Good information. Although my merlot wingtips and my brown long wingtips are my hardest working shoes in my collection, my basic style is somewhat Gothic, my default shoes are black.
I own a pair of brown boots and I find it hard to match sometimes with my more business casual outfits, so I have a pair of black dress shoes that I wear when I need to dress a bit nicer. They just look more sleek and formal than brown leather, but there's a time and a place for everything.

Once the stain is set in, it seems impossible to get out. I failed to notice the rings on a couple of my favorite shirts due to specific lighting in the walk in and by then they were very much set in, I tried everything, from various oxi products to baking soda, pretty much every bleaching chemical available OTC that one person or another claimed would work, tried borax as well, nothing worked. The only thing I haven't tried is hydrogen peroxide.

I simply love your channel, there's no better way to upgrade my style then to watch some of your videos. I have both black and brown shoes and, as for me, in most cases brown ones win. There are just times more options with 'em. Didn't you think, sometimes it even works when you take a dark blue brown-caged jacket with brown shoes and a belt to a formal meeting?
Blue polish works well on black shoes. Gives it a "pop".

Blue goes with brown because brown doesn't really exit. What we see as brown is really just dark orange and as anyone who knows about the color wheel, orange compliments blue.

I like your suggestion but i try to buy vintage clothing anywhere i can get it, it doesn't matter if it's used it matter about your style and taste in clothes, my favorite dress shoes are a candy apple pair of shoes i got to get them resoled but there really nice but at the end a nice pair of American shoes made back in the day from the 40s, 50s have lasted longer than some of today's dress shoes that's why i go with vintage you pay up or pay down for a peace of American history you can wear.
I think black monkstrap shoes would look sharp with a dark pair of jeans.

Hey Antonio, I really enjoy your videos, they’ve helped me a lot. Can you please make a video on how to shop when you are somewhere between two sizes. I’m a bit more muscular but still lean, so with shirts, Polos and jackets I’m usually between small and medium (European sizes if it matters). Small sometimes gets a bit too tight especially in the chest and shoulder area, but medium is very saggy and too long on arms and the torso. Are there any tricks on how to approach this, are there any brands that have a more muscular cut? I think many guys have that problem, would make a nice video, especially because it seems like you are also a bit more on the muscular side...

Antonio, in one of your videos, you mentioned that ostrich or exotic shoes despite being oxford or Chelsea, would be consider casual. But what's about nice looking alligator belly oxfords or dress shoes? I'm talking about the ones with smooth nice scales. Not horn-back scale. Would those consider formal or casual? I have a few pairs of those and cowboy boots.

All this shoe talk reminded me of a question, how formal is a split toe ( kinda like a more formal moccasin) versus a cap toe. Could it be worn with black tie?
When I was in school and my parents were buying things, my mother wouldn't let me get brown shoes because she thinks they would have less versatility for me, but now I have one pair of decent dress shoes, one pair of nice brown suede chelsea boots, and two cheap fake leather chukkas, and the only ones that are black are one of the cheap chukkas 😂😂.
Brown just works with my style a lot better. Currently my go to style is grey/navy chinos, my suede chelseas and either a black or white T-shirt (it is summer and we are 25°C+ with massive humidity)
And currently I wear a gold watch, mainly because my stainless one broke, so I'm replacing that eventually or getting it fixed
But for work I wear black steel capped work boots because black footwear is the uniform
So basically, brown is mainly for the casual vibe, whilst black is for more formal occasions. I'd have a real hard time choosing between Black Chukkas or Chealsea. What's your opinion though? Black Chelsea's and a suit, or no? 'Cause i really don't want to wear square shoes...

I think about two-thirds to three-quarters of all my dress shoes are black (and yes, I do wear them with jeans). I am a little wary about wearing too light of a brown shoe even though I found a pair of walnut Allen Edmonds Strands that look great. However, my uncle has a pair of wingtips that are supposedly light brown, but their discoloration kind of reminds me of vomit. Most two-tone dress shoes, though, are not appealing to me at all.

This is a funny anecdote that a swedish style podcast told the listeners, here it hoes. A guy who just started in the banking went into the office in NYC and he was wearing brown shoes. The entire ofice started chanting brown shoes over and over again so the dude ran to the nearest shoe store and bought a pair of black Oxfords. So don’t wear brown with a business suit.

I love brown and black and I use both of my wardrobe for what I wear suits and jeans. I like to dress down my black and dark brown shoes usually with dark colored jeans such as indigo navy dark blue and my black jeans. Usually of course black on black especially the monochromatic look along with some of my gray in my wardrobe. Even though I have dark brown hair I love wearing my dark brown suit with my brown shoes and I usually wear brown most the time with my navy blue and true blue suits but also when I wear my navy or true blue suit depending on my shirt and tie combination I will wear my oxblood Black shoes because blue is a very versatile color tray sometimes I also wear ox blood with my Gray suit. I just do not like when you mix suede with leather and the two-tone stuff. In my opinion that’s fashion forward if anything

Hi Antonio, i have really wide feet. Currently the shoes i am wearing are size 13, and they're extra wide. most of the time when i go shopping there's only 1 or 2 pairs in the whole store that fit me comfortably. Mostly cuz where i am from people here generally have very small feet. I also have a huge liking for double monk strap shoes. Any suggestions? Kinda afraid to shop online as i always feel the shoe won't fit me properly

No offense Antonio, but Blake construction sounds like a 200 range shoe to me. It might be a very good brand for the price, but doesn't seem like a 600 dollar shoe. I feel like I am either being tested or patronized. Maybe I am ignorant and just need further explanation.
