Thank you for actually showing how to install the glass back into the frame, I have been trying to use this piece of rubber from LMC and it is just way to thick to get back into frame
You did quite well... just repaired my '85 driver side vent window lock, but without a single new or replacement part... simply because they are hard to get here and if then very expensive here in the European communist Union superstate!! I re-designed and re-created the outer and inner seal and added a piece of thin tubing over the center of the outer bolt, so that no metal comes in direct contact with the glass plate. The seals are now made of inner tube rubber and seal firmly onto the glass and I added a half hard plastic ring on the inside to give more surface pressure on the glass and a firmer solid lock of the protruding bolt, this helps prevent the complete inner core from rotating when someone tries to unlock the window forcefully without first pushing well on the unlock button in the middle... in fact that is the mistake you made... you used force to open the latch but did not push enough on the unlock button, which in result caused the entire inner part to rotate and actually undoes, weakens and loosens the actual locking action one may hope for. Since the latch was also rotating very poorly around the center piece, I cleaned and lightly coated the inner works with copper grease to assure a lifetime hassle free operation... this may cause some greasy fingers the first few times, but after a couple of wipe offs we're all good. I will have to do the same job on the passenger side of my '85 Blazer and will video record and share how to do it. That one in addition has the lower pivot bolt with spring etc snapped off, so that is an additional challenge, but we'll get there... I hope!
Found after watching your wiring vids and its great! I've got to replace all the window weather stripping on my old 88 and was not looking forwards to the hassle the other vids online made the vents out to be
Don't use steel wool. I was a professional glazier for many years. Wet the surface with window cleaner (Preferably "Sprayway") then take a single edge razor and put it's edge flat to the surface and move in one direction only. Do not slide the blade back and forth against to glass. Go in one direction, stop, lift blade from the glass and go back then contact glass and move in same direction again. I've polished out scratches such as in this video but never once have I ever used any kind of medium other than polish designed specifically for glass. Other than that, this video is very helpful.
Thanks brother for the advice on knowing which type of weatherstripping needed and the glass tape instructions. I had to reorder the weatherstripping because I had the one piece instead of 2 piece, which I needed. Thanks again for the video.
I know this is a little late but restoration world in Dayton Ohio has 73-80 vent window frames. I've dealt with them several times over the phone and in person and they're great people to deal with.
Video was really helpful, just one question i didnt see anything about the window felt that goes on the outer edge where the window slides up and down, i cant seem to find a replacement for that..
I guess somebody replaced both in my 1985 GMC Sierra Classic C15 Suburban it has 8 tabs I ordered new frames but the conture is different from the glass the top of the frame is more straight than curve.
So I have an 85 and one of the vent windows has the tabs and one has the rivets. I ordered the 2 piece and both of the pieces that came had the tabs. I noticed you only showed the vent window with the tabs but did this happen to you ? What do you do with the tabs for the rivet side?
Just came across your channel, what part of Texas are you in and are you interested in redoing my vent windows . Of course not for free, please let me know
I got them from outback truck parts in spring, tx. LMC, brothers, classic industries ... the parts are all different for different years.. that’s why no links

The tape from LMC doesn't lay over like the seal you using.

Precision sells parts and can rebuild them too
