In my opinion, WWI would be the worst war to fight in. You would be commanded to basically commit suicide so that your country could gain a few feet of territory. Absolute nightmare.
Those trenches were scary, man.
Yeah especially on the western front, and it rained frequently
Not to mention the environmental conditions you would be fighting in depending on where you are fighting at.
From the muddy and sometimes flooded trenches of the western front where you might fall victim to trench foot and other diseases then actually combat while also having to deal with rats that would attack you in your sleep if you even got any cause of enemy artillery bombardment.
The often overlooked and underrated mountain warfare that happened in the European Alps where soldiers have to climb up inhospitable mountains and fight each other in while risking avalanches that the enemy would purposely caused to happened.
The eastern front being the eastern front.
The hot temps in Africa and the Middle East.
To even fighting in the Pacific Islands.
It truly was a nightmare no matter where you fought at.
And the crazy stuff like mustard gas and flamethrowers

The spears and axes have have not been good by themselves, but that’s why humans worked in numbers. Imagine being a mammoth and getting jumped by a hoard of screaming apes who just start stabbing you to death and trying to make you fall over a cliff
our hunting strategy was to exhaust them first so we could do it alone shockingly although it was exceedingly rare. The way we locomote is an example of this, when we run most of the work is done by gravity compared to 4 legged animals and on top of this our lack of hair and excess sweat glands made us really persistant hunters which was and still is very effective against herbivores today
humans are impressive hunters but i think the hunting success was probably low or not worth it which is why most people apart from a few nomadic people in afro-eurasia kept to agriculture honestly its a double sided blade being a predator

You join the army during ww1 because of the draft
You are either killed or live with survivor's guilt.
Your life is looking great with the roaring 20's you probably have some kids.
Then the great depressions hits.
Then ww2 helps the economy, but then your kids are drafted.
One gets killed by sniper, another killed by an artillery shell, but your third child survives.
He continues to serve in the army, but his is killed by a 7.62x54R from a mosin.
And you die in your 60's from lung cancer (you were a smoker)

WW1 really sucked not just because of war, but also hygiene was almost as bad as the medieval era, and you could drown by some rain getting into Literal War Trenches. And don't forget about PTSD (at that time called shell shocked) for all most wars.
WW1 was so much worse than the next one. An absolute meatgrinder where outdated tactics meet advanced weapons, a stalemate that seemingly had no end in sight.
The Eastern front of WW2 would be just as bad, you swap attrition for witnessing the worst crimes against humanity armies could commit.
The notion that hygiene was non-existent in the Middle Ages is utterly false.

One correction is that average lifespans of people like Cavemen aren't how long they live, many reached past 50 years or older. But it's so low because of the numbers of babies and children that didn't make it, driving down the averages.

You could say that they created a solution to something that didn't exist, unaware of you protecting themselfs from something they didn't know existed.

Worst time to be alive would have to be the 14th century (1300s) in Europe, first from 1315-1317 a famine killed 10% of Europe’s population, then a series of wars devastated the region in the 1320s and 1330s, then the Black Death which killed half of the known worlds population. The closest thing to a irl thanos snap.

My grandpa served in the Vietnam war, from 1966 to1973 he was a part of the 101st airborne division and a few other divisions, he jumped out of planes and rode in helicopters, and called in airstrikes, his division was ambushed multiple times with every time him almost getting killed untill 1973 when a grenade exploded right beside him he passed out and described his experience saying " I was in a dark tunnel and at the end was a bright light as I started to head closer to the light I got pulled back and then I woke up" after my grandpa was sent home people mistreated him calling him a baby killer and a rapist despite his being innocent, years after I met my grandpa and talked about his time in Vietnam, he don't seem affected by the Vietnam war anymore but I know it still haunts him.

The life of the knights was actually not that great. The truth is that many of them often worked in the fields alongside others during the administration of their estates. They had no choice but to keep their granaries full.
Plague doctors are scary but at least some of them actually tried to help. Others however were weird with their uh "experiments" because to be fair those experiments they did were deadly as fuck. But let's be real they had better drip than anyone back in the day.

My great grandfather fought in WWI, my dad said he was really tough and strong. Funny thing is when he had asthma in the 60s he could be treated easily if he moved to the city with his son (my grandfather) but he hated the government so much he stayed on his farm 😂. He died in 1966 I think on his farm with a horse that no one could tame (A mustang that launch every single person in the village from its seat). Seems weirdly romantic as my great grandfather didn’t give a f what others think.
The only person he truly liked was my dad, so when someone in the village needed something they would send my dad because great grandpa was REALLY big and tall for that time and had a rough character.
I don’t know if anything I wrote is comprehensible because I’m sick and English is my second language.

As the plague reaked havoc on Europe for 7 consecutive years, everyone around them saw most of the people in their lives die gruesome deaths, and had became desensitized to the idea of death as a whole. It is also worth mentioning that the vast majority of the people that died from the plague were peasant workers, aka serfs, for nobles or land owners. Given that over half of the surfs who worked for their lords died pretty much overnight, the plague absolutely devastated the entire economy, but surprisingly lead to higher paying jobs for many of these former surfs, since there were so many job openings because of the, you know. For once in their bloodlines lives, these peasants were finally able to own their own land and live on their own dollar, and once they got that sweet taste of freedom they would never go. After the plague pretty much ended, all of these former lords wanted all of their free labor back, and kings all across Europe declared that these surfs must return to their former lords; but all of those free surfs said "nah, fuck that". As a result, thousands of former surfs would be killed protesting their newfound freedom, and the massive instability caused by years of the constant rioting of former surfs essentially thanos snapped Feudalism out of existence. Y'all have no idea just how much the Black Plague truly changed everything; art, architecture, war, the monarchy, paper, science, medicine, CHRISTIANITY. Those truly were the most influential 7 years of the entire world.
