Harmless comment. Don't care for MGK's music but it's nice that musicians support each other and try to comment on rock music even though it's very irrelevant music right now (as far as the mainstream is concerned).
I always get a kick out of these super famous "rockers" if you will, saying it's hard to find any talent nowadays. I find it humorous in the same vein as people who say "rock is dead". Truth is they aren't looking. There are sooo many artists in rock and metal that are amazing right now, they just aren't filling stadiums, and that's fine.
Sorry I highly doubt MGK will be gateway drug to bands like Crass for TikTok Zoomers. 1)MGK would be the gateway drug to 00's commercial Pop-Punk, which sucked to begin with. Then they'd have to use THAT as a gateway drug to like The Ramones, and then go from there to the more out there bands in the genre. that's 3 gateways for people to cross through. 2) I don't believe MGK has a deep love for punk music, or even pop-punk. The reason he's making this kind of music is a mix of getting to do rock aesthetics and blind nostalgia for the music of his childhood. 3) He's not making rock music, but just pop music with a pop-punk sheen. He's reaching for a pop audience first and foremost - people who wouldn't even be interested in going that deep into punk if asked.
I wish we'd all grow up on the 00s pop punk hate, sure, not all of it holds up, as bands were becoming a dime a dozen, but there was also a lot of really good stuff.

I would think Mick MIGHT know BCNR but I doubt he knows the rest. But like Fan Tan said, he probably only knows what is big.
If Mick Jagger ever listened to Soul Glo he would die on the spot
Mgk is so cool he that he learned to play guitar and rap at the same time
Mick Jagger has amazing hair for a 78 year old, just wanted to say.
It's fake
Hair transplantation tech is really advanced this days. Belive me, i looked into it...
MGK is the same age as my big brother and that feels wrong to me.
bro have you not opened your eyes yet MGK literally is your big brother stop acting like you don't know him just cuz he got famous now 😂😂

MGK is definitely one of the artists of all time, to be honest
he is definitely one of the most artists ever
MGK is the most all time
He definitely has some of the albums of all time
Gotta be one of the for sure
Idk man, maybe of this generation, but idk about one of the rappers of all time
MGK is like the Morbius of music, in more ways than one
Is that a 30 Seconds to Mars reference?
I wonder if Mick ever listened to that Black Lips album you gave to him.
Everyday, I thank God for not making me an MGK fan. If you're an MGK fan, then you need to reconsider yourself..
Didn't tyler rap about raping woman 🤔 odd choice of music
For an extrovert you do camp a lot in the RUclips comments
I mean being an MGK fan is only like the 54th worst thing about me
I’m nowhere near an MGK fan but… no you don’t. If you believe that then it sounds like you need to reconsider yourself
Im not a super fan or anything but his first few collaborations with barker I did enjoy, almost naustalgic from growing up on blink. And even a track or 2 on tickets was okay. Some of it was mad cringe but punks being authentically themselves can usually read fakeness. I wouldn't say all of his stuff is mad fake or cringe but just enough to be crucified by the scene though.
I think its possible Mick Jagger doesn't know what post punk means lol
Harmless comment. Don't care for MGK's music but it's nice that musicians support each other and try to comment on rock music even though it's very irrelevant music right now (as far as the mainstream is concerned).
To be fair he is definitely one of the best rapper turned rockstar since his competition is like Rebirth Lil Wayne, Vic Mensa and SB2H kid cudi
I feel like Mick Jagger has just gotten bored and decided to troll everyone.
Jesusfuck, if these two guys are proof of whatever we call "Rock", it certainly must be dead.
It is until TOOL drops another album
@@cmslipknotfan13 so rock is dead for another 13 years?
When you name dropped Soul Glo I felt complete. That band is looking to have a bright future.
Did Mick Jagger just mean like… “after punk”?
Agreeeeeed
Absolutely
I wish we'd all grow up on the 00s pop punk hate, sure, not all of it holds up, as bands were becoming a dime a dozen, but there was also a lot of really good stuff.
@@isetmfriendsofire "grow up"? I'm pretty sure the only people who like pop punk are the ones who haven't grown up.
@@MostlyCloudy i dunno, i really liked a lot of the pop punk bands from the early to mid-2000s. definitely not the cow shit like simple plan or boys like girls or whatever, but stuff like my chem and paramore and even some of red jumpsuit apparatus were really awesome and still, in my opinion at 20 from being a child at the time, really hold up well against the whining melodramatic crybabies that dominated the genre for the longest time.
Finally melon! You see how cool MGK is!
Can't wait for his next record Known Pleasures.
Known Displeasures
I remember when I heard We've Had Enough by Alkaline Trio back in the day and they mentioned "Walk Among Us". Literally led me to into Danzig Misfits.
Mgk has been the gate
way drug for my friends basically only listen to trap. Luckily for them once u become an alt kid ur always an alt kid, regardless of ur choice of poison. Punk? Grunge? Hardcore? Emo? Inject that straight into my veins bby
There's some interview with Megan Fox and MGK about how they got together and Megan says part of why she digs him is that he's "eternally 19," or something to that effect. So fucking cool............
I think Mick Jagger is starting to lose his mind if he's praising MGK.
This would've definitely put a huge smile on Brian Jones's face to see how pathetic Mick has become

Melon just brought up Crass and early Against Me! Closest things to love songs I listened to in high school.
This guy is like the MGK of rock music
BMTH are absolutely killing it in rock music
MGK certainly got me more invested in Pop Punk and rock and general
Now i understand why the beatles shrugged it off easy when people compared them to stones back in the day
💀
the first step is to admit it, now the healing can begin anthony
And the new face of Rock n' Roll is...
MGK, he's so cool.
Man I would pay money to see a boxing match between MGK and Fantano. It would be hilarious
melon vs sunken cheeks.... who wins... my moneys on fantano folds him like a wet napkin all neat like
Melon would fold him into nothing for nothing, boy got armssss 😳😳

All Kells wants is for kids to find rock again and play guitar. Honestly if his lyrics were so always about a girl, I truly think people with fuck with him harder.
Inb4 the comments he's made, dude said he straight the fuck does not stand by the shit he used to say
I love when MGK did that Interpol, Joy Division sounding song.
I used to be super into MGK, then I saw all his allegations, sketchy behavior and clout chasing. I still like a lot of his music(music taste is subjective. idc what y’all’s opinion of it is) but it’s just not enough to get me to actively want to listen to him anymore
dude, you didn’t need to get mad, he’s not ACTUALLY weed. i know ur anti-weed and all that but jesus man…

Anthony really came on here and read the Turner Diaries in Spanish.
WOW.
Despite how cringe MGK is, he deserves some recognition for revitalizing his career in an entirely different direction.
Nah
I think that’s what makes the ‘Em stans so heated.
