First time I've seen fabric mentioned. Very helpful tut8. I'm not sure, but I think a thin layer of Modge Podge applied before the resin can protect the colors.
These look awesome, 10 years after you uploaded this video but I found this so very helpful. I have such a lot of smaller squares of fabric, least I’ve now got some extra ways to us it. Thank you for this video.
Thanks so much for sharing! It's a great idea for using parts of my daughters clothing when she outgrows them but doesn't want to let go of them. I can't wait to try this 👍
This is amazing! I love the tutorial and the projects. I’m retiring soon and want to jump into playing with resin when I have the time. I’m subscribing so I can learn more from you.
If Fran can get some resin that overflows to the back side, maybe I don't feel so bad that it happened on my first attempt. Now I know it's sometimes unavoidable. Thanks for another great video!
Mine too! It's still one of my favorites, and such fun to make. Now that we have a No-Residue Resin Backer Film product it's even easier to make projects like these. I plan to make a new tutorial in the future including hacks I've found, and more experimenting with fabrics. Thanks for your feedback :) - fran@little-windows.com
Oh I love this video, it opens to endless possibilities, I been trying to find certain buttons and I believe I could do it just like those beautiful demonstration. Thank you ❣️
Is the resin you put on the fabric epoxy? *Please I would like to know if all your work is done with epoxy resin, or if you do any work with polyester resin as well. Thanks*
Ahhhhhhh! Sooooo excited.........my starter kit has just arrived from USA to UK in just 6 days! Thanks Fran for your extremely prompt service! Can't wait to get something done. Thanks again
Between now and Christmas. Iam going to try and make Amy niece a bracelet out of some of her animated characters she loves. Have a blessed day , this is a continuation from previous somehow I hit a key and started new reply. Have a blessed day. Ms. sherry
Thank you!!! I'm having a lot of work right now with the Christmas season so close, but I will, FOR SURE try some of these. Keep posting please! I enjoy your videos!!! Hugs from Guatemala!
LittleWindowsResin hi! I loved this tutorial, can you please tell me where can I find the board? Or what’s the name of it, because I can’t find it. Thanks!
Hello @bixnash1, yes these pieces will be washable, but avoid hot water, and make sure there are no exposed zippers or other scratchy things in your laundry load. Have lots of fun creating :) fran@little-windows.com
Thank you Jeania! Be sure to subscribe, and sign up for our free monthly-ish e-newsletter at www.little-windows.com, for more project ideas, new product announcements and promotions :) I appreciate your feedback!
Great thinking, that would make it thin and even. We now have a No-Residue Resin Backer Film that works great with this technique, you can check that out here: www.little-windows.com/products/no-residue-resin-backer-film-12-pack Thanks for your feedback :) fran@little-windows.com
The first time I tried this (the only time so far) I thought I put enough resin on/in the fabric to make it turn out the way yours did, but when it was cured, it looked like some of the fabric, especially on the opposite side, didn't get resin or enough resin. I worked with some of it anyway. The fabric tended to curl up on the edges while curing, although I did use UV resin for this. Will attempt again in the near future with soaking the fabric more and not using UV resin for the doming part.
Hello @turquoisewitch.wild-owl! This technique works much better with epoxy resin like my Brilliant Resin that I used in this video. Give that a try and let me know how your projects turn out :) fran@little-windows.com
Hello @Oceanblue_Art_! I'm glad you're loving this video, let me know how it goes with UV resin, my experiments with that type of chemistry have not worked out with flat pieces like these. fran@little-windows.com
Hi Barb! Let me know how they turn out, I haven't had a lot of luck with patches, they have lost their wonderful texture once in the resin, but my patches have all been quite dark colors. Any luck with yours?
Thanks a lot for sharing this .. I have come accross for the first time... Looking very nice.. One question...... please.... Do we need to cover the back part also with resin.?? Thanks 👍
Hello! Yes, not only will that protect your pieces, it also makes them smoother and more comfortable to wear. Have lots of fun creating and let me know if I can be of help along the way :) - Fran@little-windows.com
Thank you, this is very interesting since l’d rather buy fabric than groceries as a stitcher and the Big Time Fabric Appreciator that I am. I don’t know about resin hobbies, so l don’t have a clue what kind of resin to buy or what dicrilish film is. Please explain more detailed definitions in the video. The pieces are lovely!
Hello fellow fabric lover! Have a look at this complete tutorial, which has lists and links to all supplies, with more details on how to add resin to your fabrics. Such fun to be had making beads, buttons, pins and jewelry with scraps from your stash of beauties! www.little-windows.com/blogs/project-center/10970577-resin-your-fabric-scraps?_pos=1&_sid=066aace3d&_ss=r Let me know if you have any questions that aren't answered in this tutorial, I'm happy to help. fran@little-windows.com
Is it better to put holes in after resin-ing, or before? You did after in this video, but I would think it would be better to have that done before. Are you using a dremel tool to put holes in or only a small hand tool?
Hello @catgoddess1190, if you add holes before resining you need to be super careful that the resin doesn't fill in those holes, which is tricky when you're doming as the pressure surrounding the holes tends to push the resin in. I'm using this Spring Drill, a hand-held tool that's easy to use for accurate holes in resin and wood projects, this drill comes with 3 sizes of drill bits. It's really handy as you don't have to plug it in and you can drill even delicate materials easily. www.little-windows.com/products/spring-drill-new Please let me know if I can be of help in any other way :) fran@little-windows.com
Absolutely Ellen, thanks so much for your feedback! I'm emphasizing safety in my newer videos, as the information that's floating around is pretty confusing. From there we're working backwards to add this info to our older tutorials too, it'll just take a bit to modify them all. Here's a rough idea of our current recommendations: I use Brilliant Resin, the safest epoxy you'll find. There is safety guidance on the bottles and in all of our maker guides, and I'm typically mixing small batches (1-2 TBSP), to make small projects, I cover them with dust covers, and have good ventilation in my space. Resins are sensitizers, meaning the more you're exposed, the more likely you may be to experience irritation. You'll need to consider situational use of both gloves and vapor masks/respirators, depending on the size of your project and your frequency of use. This is especially important if you're using a resin that contains more harmful chemicals, if you're working in a space that doesn't have good air flow, and/or if you're working on larger projects (canvases, tumblers, large castings, etc), making multiple projects simultaneously, mixing large batches, or not using dust covers. If you have chemical sensitivities, or plan to use a lot of resin, you'll certainly want protective gear. Ellen, if you know of any other tips you'd like to share, please email fran@little-windows.com Keep creating :)
@@LittleWindowsResin thanks so much for personally replying! ❤️ Those are all such good points; I don't have anything to add because I'm very new to working with UV resin, I just noticed several videos other people made talking about the importance of safety gear and how resin can be dangerous when used incorrectly. It freaked me out a lot, especially because crafting has become very popular during lockdown, and I worry for people's health. ✌️ I'm glad to hear you're putting emphasis on safety! Your channel is a great source of inspiration for beginner crafters like me, you'll be leading the way in safe fun!

I finally see the appeal of making items using resin. They all were great but my fav is the CAR BRACELET. 🙂
Mine too! It's still one of my favorites, and such fun to make. Now that we have a No-Residue Resin Backer Film product it's even easier to make projects like these. I plan to make a new tutorial in the future including hacks I've found, and more experimenting with fabrics.

Well, I am impressed, well done and so smart and crafty. Thank you for sharing.
Ohmigosh I NEED that cat fabric! (And that timer, that thing is awesome!)
It would be easier to use an old credit card to spread the resin on the fabric more evenly and faster. 😊
Love your videos.

Thanks again, Pam 😉 oh btw, I love those little mixing spoons! 👏
Can you do this to faux leather material? If so do you still need to stiffen the material or should the faux material already be strong enough?
What an excellent idea!
Great tutorial! Just please remember to use protective gear when working with resin (gloves, mask)!
