Sublimating on UV Resin Earrings

- In this video, I show you how I made some UV Resin earrings and then sublimated onto them. Shoutout to The Best Uni, who shared a video of Kathy's Jewelry and Crafts doing this same process, which is where I learned about it. Below are links to some of the products used in the video, which may include affiliate links.

What sort of paper is your image printed on
I wasn't sure which paper I used so I rewatched the part where I saw the back of the paper and at about 11 min 9 seconds, I see that it is HTV Ront paper. That is what I thought since it is my favorite paper, but now I know it was. Here is a link to the exact paper I bought. amzn.to/49BpOtn
OMG, I really don't need another thing to add to my crafting! I guess I'll be spending some more money! LOL Thanks for a great video.
I know, so many things to do and spend money on! Thanks for watching 🙂
I was thinking the same thing 😅😅😅😅 my house is full of my arts and crafts 😊
Dear people who are watching this.. please think about what you are doing..This is not putting it on a fabric or put it on ceramic. UV-resin and epoxy resin after they are cured should not be exposed to high heat at any point. They burn easily and may release toxic fumes. Sublimation needs a temperature of at least 180°C (356 Fahrenheit I think), epoxy and UV-Resin will not take that temperature well. And also while resin is curing under UV, it will emit fumes, which should not be inhaled. Even when your uv-resin says non toxic, use gloves, uncured resin can cause irritation to skin and consuming it is bad for you (you hand will touch your mouth at some point during the day or even when you are in the process of making stuff with uv-resin), be in a well ventilated room or use a respirator. I mean read the instruction, everywhere it is written use gloves and protect your eye. Do you all think this is for a joke? Skin and eyes are such delicate organs you want not to mess with them. And saying "but everybody else is doing it without gloves and other stuff and they seem to be ok" or "I am doing this since XX years and never got an issue" are no valuable excuses for not caring for your health. You may not see any visible damage but harming your respiratory system is not funny and your skin can react at any point to the resin and both can be avoided so easily. I really like people who craft stuff and come up with new ideas but sometimes you have to do some research on your own or just think about it
Thank you for your comment and concern for people's health, a very valid topic for those of us who do crafts such as this. That concern is why I do not do resin projects very often and have barely used epoxy resin at all. As for the part of your comment about saying things like "but everybody else is doing it without gloves and other stuff and they seem to be ok" or "I am doing this since XX years and never got an issue" I have not said anything like that in my videos.
@@MakingwithMarilynsorry this statement was not targeted at you. But I heard and read it so often in other videos.. and also I do not want to scare off anyone or you with this, I work with epoxy and uv resin and even 3d resin printer as well. It is cool to create something with it
Safety police 👮🏻♀️
You should be using gloves. How about showing folks how to work safely??
Great point, thank you!
Really?? 😂
New sub here from Spokane Valley Wa, I pray that this day finds you blessed and well, and that you are having a no bubbles in your resin kinda day
I love your comment Roberta! Thank you so much.
Place a mirror under your translucent molds,it helps your UV resin cure all around
Oh my goodness, thank you so much!!! I have not done a lot of UV resin projects and appreciate your help.
Hi Marilyn... where did you get the 2 part earring mold you used last?
I don't find it in my Amazon purchases, so I picked it up at Michaels, Hobby Lobby or JoAnn Fabric. Sorry I don't know exactly where I got it.
Where do you purchase sub images from if I don’t have a laser printer
I think some people sell sublimation images off of Etsy. I use an inkjet printer that has sublimation ink in it instead of regular ink. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for sharing and they look great!! Love this idea. I am just shocked that sublimation ink adhered to the resin. Wondering though if they'll fade overtime and if they should have a sealant. I know my 5 Below Journals weren't sublimation ready and faded but now I'm aware they need some type of sealant.
I would love to try this. Since my daughter does resin notions, she may already have some jewelry molds.
Tracey
I might go ahead and spray them with a UV protective sealant. Great idea!!! Thank you.
Did i miss when to use the mica powder
It was between minutes 3 and 4 in the video.
Nice! How did make the images. Sublimation paper and isublimation nk? Or just sblimation paper and laser or inkjet?
I used sublimation ink and sublimation paper. Thanks for watching!
Would love to know where the last earring mold came from please?
Here is what I ordered from Amazon amzn.to/3o88Ay8
@@MakingwithMarilyn thank you for the link but the 2 part round earring mold isn't in this bunch. What would be a good product to use to seal the earrings after sublimation? Do you think there's a spray that would work? Thank you!
Bussin
I was just wondering if this process was would work, the other day. Thank you so kindly for the wonderful video.
Yes, it ended up working really well, as long as the surface was flat/smooth. Thanks so much for watching!
Thank you
You’re welcome. Thank you for watching.
👍🤣
Thanks for watching!!!
First time viewers and you were amazing! Thanks for sharing your talent!
Thank you so so much!!!
👀
Can you do this with the regular (2 part) epoxy resin?
Thank you! My first pair turned out perfectly. I did 355 for 75 seconds 😁
That is great! Thank you for letting me know your settings!
HEY MARILYN...
They're gorgeous Marilyn. Will have to get my resin out again ha ha!
Yes, definitely get it out:) Thanks for watching and commenting!
Omg amazing
Thanks Uni!!!
Really NICE, Marilyn!
I might get the courage to give that a try! 😊❤🎉
Thank you!!! The biggest issues are having a really flat surface to sublimate on and not having the acrylic bend and cool down in an unflat position. These are cute, but not my favorite thing to make because of those issues. I want to try some more resin earrings but put things into the resin, like glitter and such.
@@MakingwithMarilyn I have seen the molds and the glitters and all at Hobby Lobby. That store has a lot of choices. I’m just getting started with crafting and have never used resin to create anything, or on anything. I’ll likely get up to courage to try it one day. I sure do appreciate your reply and for letting me know the issues you have had with doing them.
I LEARNED SOMETHING NEW TODAY...TFS
Thanks for watching Stacey!
I FAITHFULLY USE THOSE CUPS
I love them! Especially on sale🙂
Is this washi tape?
The only tape I used was heat tape. Which part of the video are you asking the question about? If you let me know the time in the video, I will let you know what it was.
Exact at 9.1 which paper or tape you are using?
@@debjaninayak7119 at 9.1, I have some protective paper on my silicon mat to protect it from ink, then the flower design is on sublimation paper (I usually use Hiipoo sublimation paper), then I put the resin earring on the sublimation paper, and tape it down with heat resistant tape. You are probably asking about the image on the sublimation paper. I used my sublimation printer to print on the sublimation paper. Thanks so much for watching!
@@MakingwithMarilyn Thanks for your advise and information.♥️
Great job and love your videos
Thank you so much!!! I appreciate it.

Thank you!!!
They came out great💞
Thank you Kim!
Marilyn you always have amazing ideas! This is awesome 🤩
Thanks AccessoRe but credit definitely goes to Kathy's Jewelry and Crafts. I thought it was so cool when I saw her do this process.
@@MakingwithMarilyn good day, thanks for video. Could you tell me if the uv resin can be coated on white tile then cured before sublimation? Why do you use mica powder, is it for coloring or does it have something to do with sublimation?
Love it Marilyn ❤
Thank you Diane!!!
Amazing!
Thanks for watching Demps!!!
Cute💕
Thank you!!!
This is so cool 💕
Thanks Marta!!! I thought so too when I watched it on Kathy's Jewelry and Crafts' channel.
