You should try a nail lamp for curing, great light spread, you can put the lamp over the pieces rather than moving the molds and they remain on a flat level surface unlike the platform in the Sunlu box. Finally, they cure in 1 to 2 minutes, faster than the box or torch.
That's what I use - after doing gel nails for years, I love using a nail lamp (I have one for resin and one for nails) rather than trying to move my molds to a box.,
I was just going to comment that suggestion, for people who can't afford the sunlu box. And yeah, they cure *super* fast. I use UV resin more than anything else. A torch would drive me insane. I always am working on another project for the 1-2 minutes the other one is curing so having to hold a lamp would hurt my adhd brain haha.
I've also brushed mica powder into a clear mermaid tail using UV resin in thin layers. It was a beautiful opaque rainbow blend. I cured bottom side after too was cured. No sticky residue. 💜
I find that sometimes strong sunlight cures too fast, and I see more shrinkage. So I cure it as much as I can with a nail light, then flip it over cure some more before demolding and then leave it out in the sun for a final cure to remove any stickiness.
Thanks Steve, your videos remain the best at teaching us about resin. You provide clear information, and easy to use links for all the items you use in the video for various countries. I love learning from you. For instance, I didn't know you shouldn't use UV resin for anything deep cast. I though UV just dried different and that was it, so thanks for that information, coz you've saved me making a costly mistake. God bless you and your family.
Thank you, Steve! If not for you I would not have learned about the JDiction UV resin. It truly is the best resin that I’ve tried so far! I will be trying their other products when I need to reorder. Keep up the good work. 🤗
Thanks Steve, I bought the JDiction UV resin from your recommendation and have been having so much fun trying new things as I'm new to resin. I use the thin end of the micro brushes, also from your recommendation to fill really small areas of filigree metal findings and they work great!
I started out with UV resin, and Steve is right, about everything he is saying! He got me started on JDiction (& minibrushes! 😊) and, yep! --- best UV resin on the market! I *love* this stuff! I am now also using their regular epoxy resin, as well...and don't like using any other kind. Steve, I'm so glad you put this video out! Thank you! 😊❤🌺
This has helped me understand resin more and wanna jump back into it!! The first time I tried it remained sticky and liquidity and didn't wanna set at all, but now I have more confidence to get back in and use some of the molds I have 😃
Hi Steve. Thankx for this video. It's perfect timing for me, for I too am getting ready to start using UV Resin. I have a great many bottles, so I'm anxious to get started. I do prefer the molds that aren't very deep, for I want to focus on making earrings and necklaces. Plus, I haven't used epoxy resin yet, even though I do have some bottles of JDiction, but I'm just a little concerned about using any epoxy resin because I have asthma. I do have a respirator, but my concerns for my asthma has turned my desire to using UV Resin instead, so your video has been very helpful to me. I still may use epoxy resin, but only outside just to be safe. Thankx again.
You might check out art resins that are non toxic & non smelling. I started looking into resin 2+ years & at that time the only kind available was ArtResin & it was a lot more expensive. But a couple of months ago I looked again & there were all kinds of them on Amazon. So I bought some & it doesn't really smell at all. Thankfully since fibromyalgia, allergies & sinus issues mean I'm extremely sensitive to scents.
Wish I had seen this a year ago, my first time doing this I just did it as normal it did cure it but it did take ages, thank you Steve another brilliant video
thank you so much!! i havent been crafting for a while, but this uv helps so much i kept having issues with it being sticky and it became very stressful now i feel better that i watched this.
Thank you for another great informative video. I've been on the fence about buying a UV curing box for a while now, because I wasn't sure if it would work for me and this video has changed my mind, I'll definitely be getting one soon.
I always learn something I didn't know from your videos, thanks for another great tutorial. I really appreciate your explanation of how this cures and what works well with UV resin. I want to try some embellishments for card making, does it work well in a thin layer? I understand that the paper needs to be sealed and dry, my question is can you just use a thin layer on top for a little durability for the embellishment?
Living in South Africa I have to close the curtains every time I use uv resin. I learnt the hard way because you don't even need direct sunshine for it to begin to thicken up and cure.
Great thank you 🙂 I've realised what mistakes I've been making now, though they haven't spoiled my pieces, but seeing this video will help me be better and get less annoyed lol. I use a UV nail lamp to cure my pieces looked at the box but I can't afford that rights now though it would be perfect.
I love JDiction UV Resin & epoxy Resin!! I just love watching your ideas, they inspire me when I over think things. Lol Thank you for bringing me back to center (if that makes sense). God bless 🤗
I love all the pieces you made ❤ ♥ 💙 so pretty and you just helped me yet again with a great tip I never waited to cure my pieces but now I will definitely . I can't pick a favorite because I really like them all. 💜 thank you for sharing another great video Steve hugs from Québec Canada 🇨🇦 🤗 🫂😉💙💜💝
I can't waite to try my let's resin out,and on your sponsored leveling board as well, this bedroom/craft area redo is taking longer then I want, ugh but when you have to waite on help to build a better closet system ,can't do my craft area ,because my closet stuff is in my way 😆
I just bought jdiction uv resin for the first time. Ive used several brands and maybe its just a matter of time but my 2 attempts have come out sticky. I totally bought it based on this crafters review :( i am gonna do more testing today but i was bummed out
Thank you very much this really helped me.. I was going to get epoxy resin but I heard you get health issues later on. So I started looking for a type of resin which was clear and didn't cause any health problems. But I don't know if UV resin causes any health problems... so if anyone knows please let me know ☺️
When I am doming, I just put a dollop of resin in the middle of my piece and spread it from there, it keeps me from overfilling and then I can add a few drops if needed.
Hello I am a huge fan of the Gigi clozeau jewelry of gold chain with resin drops would love to make that any suggestions of how to or csn you make a video of this please?
Hi Steve, I'm interested in starting with resin for making little momento's with my children's baby teeth etc. Also, I've heard that it works very well as glue in jewellery making, like attaching earring findings, how would this be done please? Thank you!
Hello Steve. Love your videos! Wanted to try JDiction uv resin and lo and behold there are 3 types. High viscosity, low viscosity and regular. I use resin to coat beads for shine and durability. Can you advise on what viscosity i should use? Which type are you using in the molds?
Hey @stevemcdonald on your suggestion I purchased the JDiction deep pour resin, but it warped my mold because it got too hot. Which resin do you use for deeper pours then? My pour was only about 3”. I am interested in knowing what you use for your results on deeper pours?
@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Well, I THOUGHT I did it right, but I will try it again. :) You use it for your pyramids, right? Ok! Thanks! Love your videos. They are entertaining and helpful.
I’m just getting into Uv resin and have watched different videos where temporary tattoos and stickers are used. My question is where is the best place to find all the good ones??? Tattoos, stickers, dried flowers..
Have u ever used uv resin that stays soft? I was watching a Japanese lady make jewelry with it today n was thinking about ordering some of I can find it
everytime I make pendant pieces whether in molds like yours or open bezels they go under the light for 5 minutes each said and are always sticky or tacky. any suggestions?
Can you please tell me why my uv resin won’t set I tried paste and mica but when it’s on the sticky tape the underside doesn’t set no matter what I try what am I doing wrong
From personal experience the JDiction UV resin compared to others, it is very low odor. I know we are supposed to wear PPE including respirators while working with resin, but I am extremely claustrophobic and can at best tolerate an N95 mask.

Yea that is what I got a lamp it’s about 54Watt mail
Lamp for my gelX nails . I got that for both my nails and resin I haven’t used yet I’m try learn

Thank you Steve your videos are amazing! I would, however, have liked to see you finish these off with adding the chain/cords xx
I love this uv resin and I bought it because you said how good it is thank you
Wow these are beautiful!!! Thank you for the tips!!

You have such a wonderful personality! Always great content and so engaging! Thanks again!
Great advice to let it sit just like regular resin!
Oh my goodness I absolutely love your energy! You seem so kind are super encouraging and inspiring! Loves it!
I am new to your channel. Just wanted to take a moment and tell you how much I enjoy you and your videos. Thanks. 💜🙏🏽

I tried a deeper pour with it and it did come out sticky. So, THIN layers! Thank you!
I love all the pieces you made, but my favorite is the fruit and flower ones. Those are really cute and would make a great pair of earrings.
Another great video.. thank you 😊

Yeah I looked at the box too, it's not what I'd call inexpensive for what it is
Thank you for the info very helpful

Thank you for bringing me back to center (if that makes sense). God bless 🤗

I use a glass plate in the sunlu to have wider circle table
Thank you for a great tutorial.
❤❤You are the BEST ❤❤
So beautiful pieces💞
I have been trying to work with uv resin for my jewelry.
My first attempt didn’t go super awesome but it could have been worse without your tips. Thanks!
The bonus about Uv resin is you can set it in a cool dark place before exposing it to uv lights and it will degass in just a few hours
Thank you so much for this video, can we use a blow torch on UV resin for air bubbles?
I dont have as nice as a curing box as you but i have a cheaper one that works great!
Hi Steve. Have you ever tried to put leather in a resin pendant? What were your results?
Thanks! I live in the southern Nevada desert & wondered if our [over] abundance of sunlight would cure them. 👍
I just bought jdiction uv resin for the first time. Ive used several brands and maybe its just a matter of time but my 2 attempts have come out sticky. I totally bought it based on this crafters review :( i am gonna do more testing today but i was bummed out

Is there a link for your micro stick?
When I am doming, I just put a dollop of resin in the middle of my piece and spread it from there, it keeps me from overfilling and then I can add a few drops if needed.
So as long as I use the translucent dyes on UV resin it should cure properly?
Hello I am a huge fan of the Gigi clozeau jewelry of gold chain with resin drops would love to make that any suggestions of how to or csn you make a video of this please?
So you can't use regular pigments and dyes with this? Just the type for UV resin?
Hi Steve, I'm interested in starting with resin for making little momento's with my children's baby teeth etc. Also, I've heard that it works very well as glue in jewellery making, like attaching earring findings, how would this be done please? Thank you!
Steve since you have been using the JDiction for quite some time… can you tell me if it yellows quicker than some of the 2-part expoxy
Hello Steve. Love your videos! Wanted to try JDiction uv resin and lo and behold there are 3 types. High viscosity, low viscosity and regular. I use resin to coat beads for shine and durability. Can you advise on what viscosity i should use? Which type are you using in the molds?
Can you use the uv molds with reg resin ?
Hi Steve
I'm new to resin what is best resin to use making alphabet keyrings , coasters ect..?
Thank you

I have found it helps with some projects to place things on a mirror tile when under the UV lamp. Let me know if it helps you as well.
Hi Steve can you put the link in for those micro brushes 😁
If you go on Amazon, search for micro brush.. hope this helps
Does this resin yellow over time?
I’m just getting into Uv resin and have watched different videos where temporary tattoos and stickers are used. My question is where is the best place to find all the good ones??? Tattoos, stickers, dried flowers..
what does it mean if they are sticky
Have u ever used uv resin that stays soft? I was watching a Japanese lady make jewelry with it today n was thinking about ordering some of I can find it
Oh, I forgot to say, I saw 'hard' on the bottle of resin that you used, what types or strengths are there and for what purpose please?
everytime I make pendant pieces whether in molds like yours or open bezels they go under the light for 5 minutes each said and are always sticky or tacky. any suggestions?
I want cure box
Have you ever thought about colored uv resin? Because I have a few and they work really well.
Can you please tell me why my uv resin won’t set I tried paste and mica but when it’s on the sticky tape the underside doesn’t set no matter what I try what am I doing wrong
❤️❤️❤️
Do you use a respirator when using UV resin?
I literally just drained batteries in my UV flashlight like a week ago. Lol.
Instant gratification is my middle name. 🙃
What about the horrible smell of uv resin?
From personal experience the JDiction UV resin compared to others, it is very low odor. I know we are supposed to wear PPE including respirators while working with resin, but I am extremely claustrophobic and can at best tolerate an N95 mask.
👍😀
I recently bought JDiction UV resin. Didn't like the Michael's brand, tacky sticky. With your lighting, your "rocky bits" look like pearls. Tiny cast offs of nacre.
Alcohol will also cause your UV Resin to FUSE to your molds! I found that out the HARD WAY!!!!!!!!!!
to much talking bla bla bla
