    They are fantastic! Gorgeous pieces, Deb! I love them, my creativity has been stalled lately and I was fooling around with many of the same ingredients you featured here today but failing miserably at everything I attempted but now you have given me something to try yet mine never come out as beautifully as your do! I love your new pinch bails and I will definitely be going to you amazon affiliate link again! The dangly on the bottoms are such a nice finishing touch! Thanks again!!

      I also work on paper, depending on what I’m making. In this instance, paper would not have been a suitable surface, as I was cutting the shape by hand and it needed to adhere to the tile.

Get Yr gp to check your B12 - you could be very low? I was told I was dangerously low about ten years ago - when I forgot my surname. I have B12 jabs every 8 weeks. It helps, but I need more, so I top up with B12 tablets. In the USA, they give weekly jabs. Maybe you have gad it checked? I hope I can catch up with your videos - my 4 year old smart phone is getting bad. I can't afford another. Oh well. Take care and hope to see you soon. xx❤

    I am a huge fan of your work Deb, LOVE all the faux stones you make. I especially love that subtle shine you get with sanding/buffing, it can’t be replicated by any varnish IMO. The only problem is, I followed your technique to the letter and mine don’t even come close to any sort of shine. The most I get is a subtle ‘sheen’ I guess you could say. Can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong…🤔

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  Год назад +1

      If you’re not using metallic or pearlescent clays, the shine isn’t going to be so vibrant. Other than that, I couldn’t tell you what you might be doing differently.

    Your clay is crumbly because you added so much mica powder. It dilutes the plasticizers in the clay. It may also be a bit brittle after baking. It turned out very pretty!

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  10 месяцев назад

      No, it wasn’t crumbly because of the mica powder, and I didn’t add too much. The clay was old, and already crumbly. No, it wasn’t brittle when I had baked it, it was slightly flexible, as it should be.

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  10 месяцев назад +1

      In actual fact, it was the backing clay that I said was ‘dry and old,’ and that didn’t even have any mica powder in it. You can clearly see that the clay with the mica powder in it, is soft and supple with it being conditioned to mix in the color…

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’m actually not sure where you got the info that mica powders ‘dilute the plasticizers.’ I’m pretty well versed in the function of polymer clay, and the Blue Bottle Tree has been my Bible for years.
      Just FYI, this was on Blue Bottle Tree’s site:
      NIKA
      FEBRUARY 24, 2019 AT 2:38 PM
      I use Premo Gold for lots of things, including mica shift. I was wondering if you can further enhance the effect by adding more mica powder to the clay. Does that help with the image? Will it enhance the effect but make the baked clay more brittle? I’d appreciate hearing from someone who has tried this.
      GINGER DAVIS ALLMAN
      FEBRUARY 25, 2019 AT 8:47 PM
      You can add more mica, yes. It shouldn’t make it more brittle. (Well, it will if you add so much that the clay is too stiff for the powder to mix in adequately. I have created mica/pearl clays by adding mica powders to trans many times and it does work. But it doesn’t always give a good mica shift effect. It’s not the density of the mica that matters, it’s the size of the particles. And Premo gold already has very good mica shift effect.

      @clayboutique Just my opinion, based on what I saw.
      These are comments, and I'm sure you've gotten a few that were way more negative than mine. You put a lot of energy into defending your process here. Maybe you could just dismiss what you don't agree with? It might bring you a bit more peace. If you're satisfied with your work, that's all that matters!

    • @clayboutique
      @clayboutique  10 месяцев назад +1

      I’m totally satisfied with my work, but you didn’t give your opinion, it was a statement. It was a false statement, at that.
      You’re assuming I saw your comment as a negative - I didn’t, but I felt a full explanation was necessary, to which you seem offended. Misinformation needs to be corrected, especially as how there are so many beginners watching.
      Correct, this is the comment section. People comment, I respond. Would you have liked it if I totally dismissed you? I guess I can’t win, either way.
      Have a blessed day!

      Properly cured clay SHOULD be flexible, otherwise it will be brittle and snap. As a rule of thumb, I bake longer than what it tells you on the package, usually an hour, and not lower than the temperature that is stated on the package. Check your oven temp with a thermometer. Under cured clay will break.
