Long time Die Hard Eagles fan here. i'll never forget this game. I was watching this game knowing we had it in the bag and as soon as the pass was lofted i'm thinking easy pick... but dude managed to just squeak by troy and I'm like WHAATT??!? and that final dive... damn heartbroke me. it was a good game though but we shoulda had it won. goes to show, any given sunday....
I remember this one as well. The game actually started about 10 to 15 minutes late that day due to President Bush addressing the nation regaurding the beginning of the war on terriorism in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. This was a tough one to lose. My heart just sunk that day when Jenkins caught that TD in the final seconds. They then had to wait over 2 weeks to play again after this one.
Jake Plummer just seems like one of those guys who has a lot of luck on his side.He just had a knack for making big plays...Especially early in his career.Bill Walsh even called him the next Joe Montana back in 98.
That throw by Jake the Snake Plummer to Jenkins was the most stunning I have ever seen my whole life. It was heartbreaking for Eagles fans during that game at Veteran Stadium.
I was actually a Cardinal and Eagle fan growing up in Baltimore back in the 80's. I remember watching this game back in 2001 in Delaware like it was yesterday. Even though I was a fan of both teams, I was partial toward the Cardinals in this game. Unfortunately the "2001" season was the last season that I really considered myself a "True" Cardinal fan. Yeah I was cheering for them in the Super bowl against the Steelers a few years ago and although they are a pretty good team now, its just not the same. I can honestly say from "1984 - 2001", I was probably one of the "True" St. Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinal fans on the East coast.
Football has become sooo "commerciaized" that I just lost interest in not just the teams that I followed when I was a kid (Cards, Eagles, Chiefs, and L.A. Rams) but for the sport in general. Plus back in the day (80's and 90's) teams usually stayed together for at least eight to ten years if not longer, so you actually got connected with the team (cried when they lost, went wild when they won). I understand that the NFL is (probably back in my day too) a business nowadays but it sucks for former fans such as myself who grew up in a era when it was more "authenic". Anyway, How long have you been a Cards fan? If you're a longtime Cards fan, I can tell you about some Cards games back in the 80's and 90's that will leave you scratching your head. Lol...
Thomas Nee 2008 was my first year (I was 6) and just happened to be the year they had their shot and refs had to screw it up ,now we are ticket holders
Close.....the local FOX affiliate bought out remaining 7000+ unsold tickets to avoid blackout.......still sad testimony to diehard sell out every home game Eagles fans
This might have been Plummer's final career fourth quarter comeback. I don't think he had any of them in his years with the Broncos and the Cardinals only won a handful of games after this one the rest of his time there.
what? i seriously don't understand what u mean by that....ANYWAY i base that opinion on the fact that when the cowboys play the cards (in AZ) there is more noise in the stadium when the cowboys score a TD then when the cards do...
Cards actually had a pretty good year in 2001, following a disastrous 2000 season. They had a modest three game winning streak during the middle of the season that had fans such as myself thinking wildcard. Unfortunately, the Cards choked as usual but all in all it was a good season. Plummer rebounded from a horrible 2000 season and David Boston was a beast in 2001.
Remember this like it was yesterday.. heart still hurts from watching this ... still in shock !
Forreal lol😂

I was at that game. I remember well the heartbreak.
Mike Macheski me too
thanks zack walz for posting this ex card man i remember this game i was 14 cards fan from cleveland.
Oh wow, didn’t realize that Blade himself posted this vid! Good dude, quality LB.
Dude is like "Around here - Scoring a td is 6 lashes with a dry towel!" Actually, That's Cardinal CB Corey Chavous who was injured for this game.
Jake "The Snake" Plummer, one of my two all time favorite Sun Devil's.
Damn i remember watchin this back in 8th grade damn time flies
i remember this, me and my grampa were soooooo pissed. then we ate pancakes.
Curt Menefee is doing the PBP here with Baldinger doing the color
That’s my uncle that caught the ball
I’ll never forget losing this game

Thomas Nee why'd you stop

FACT: This game was blacked out in Philly because the so called "die hard" eagles fans did NOT sell out the game.
Close.....the local FOX affiliate bought out remaining 7000+ unsold tickets to avoid blackout.......still sad testimony to diehard sell out every home game Eagles fans
Last time anybody checked, the country was still reeling from the sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Fans were uneasy about attending sporting events.
Wrong.
I was 7 when this game happened…I won’t say it still hurts to watch, but it still certainly irks me. 4TH AND 10 TO THE CARDINALS AT HOME? WTF MAN
Still till this day smh😢
No disrespect to Mar Tay Jenkins....but that was all Plummer. That guy had dead on balls precision in the 4th qrt.
how do you know there are more dallas fans than cardinal fans in the 90s?
sounds like curt meneffe
This might have been Plummer's final career fourth quarter comeback. I don't think he had any of them in his years with the Broncos and the Cardinals only won a handful of games after this one the rest of his time there.
‘01 Cardinals were a frisky team- won at OAK, won at PHI, beat the Giants, almost beat Chicago
The Giants actually swept them that season though.
0:30: Reid is pretty good at hiding his emotions, you can give him that!
how do you know the card fans werent there in the 90s?
How did he do that when the Eagles scored only 20 pts?
Damnnnnn! CARDS ALL DAY
i'm sure they had fans in the 90's BUT there were more Dallas fans in Arizona the Cards fans (how many times do i have to say this)
how do you know they werent there?
Awesome
true fans DON'T have 2nd favorite teams...if they do don't pick a potential rival
I miss the lazer sound effect
what? i seriously don't understand what u mean by that....ANYWAY i base that opinion on the fact that when the cowboys play the cards (in AZ) there is more noise in the stadium when the cowboys score a TD then when the cards do...
Lol did the ref say "be quiet the game is over"???
He said "The penalty is declined, the game is over."
Whats with the guy slapping them with tha towel??
That was Cory Chavous, Cardinal CB who was inactive for the game.
curt menefee should've keep doing pbp
announcer comment at 2:50 kinda creepy.
Eagles went 11-5 that year and made the NFC title game. Cardinals finished 7-9 and lost their home rematch 21-7 to the Eagles.

Thomas Nee David Boston’s 2001 season was probably the best in Cardinals history
Go Cards, they beat the Panthers!!!!!
LOL @ the Eagles!
By today's standards, this isn't a catch.
