The BEST Finesse Trick For Cold Water Bass!! (Damiki Rig Fishing)

  • Опубликовано: 11 сен 2024
  • The Damiki Rig is an amazing technique for cold water bass fishing! Its slow, methodical approach can get wary bass to bite when nothing else will fool them. Fished properly (slowly), it can get bass to bite in the coldest temperatures you'll face all Winter. If you haven't given it a try, its time!
The concept behind the Damiki rig is very simple. Suspend a small baitfish imitating plastic above the fish in cold water and give them time to inspect it. As long as you can keep it sitting perfectly level and moving slowly, they'll usually eat it. This method rely's on the same concept as the float n fly to fool bass into biting but does it in a more manageable and angler-friendly way.
Below you'll find links to the exact baits we use for this technique. We've included our favorite sizes and colors, as well as the gear we use to fish the technique. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item.

Tim, fyi, I notice a ton of RUclipsrs apologizing for noise, there was nothing noticeable as far as your sound quality, and I understand your attention to detail, but you didn’t have any issues imo. It’s so interesting to fish with the “damiki rig” mainly because since I was a kid and throughout my decades of fishing, we always called it “ straight lining” and we would hit the ledges of Kentucky lake,or bluff walls on Dale Hollow and Cumberland lake, and straight line as we would drift from a perfect breeze, or very light use of the trolling motor.. and of course there wasn’t the electronics of today, but when we found the suspended bass it was like they were tuna 😂 of course there were far fewer fishermen and some years were lifetime memories. Excellent job breaking it down as always. Much respect ✊

A weightless Fluke, Senko, or Magnum Finesse Worm will usually catch most all bass in ponds without the need for lead. These 3 lures cast as well as most weighted TX rigs, and the slow, natural fall is usually your best presentation in a pond. On the rare occasion you need more weight, a ¹/¹⁶ or ¹/⁸oz Slider, Spot Remover, or Shakey head is all you need.

You keep talking about 'straight' and 'natural' but your lure is hanging diagonally. One way to fix this is tie a palomar knot of 20lb fluoro on your jighead and snip it off, leaving the knot only. Position this knot toward the top or 12 o'clock position on your jighead eye. This will prevent your knot and line from sliding forward and making your presentation crooked. The more you know...

Do you have to use live scope? Or can you do this without electroncs

“Gonna have to use your electronics” so it’s not really the rig then is it? If I’m just scoping the fish out and dropping a bait on it’s head, sounds like I could use almost anything given the water temp. Seems like a pretty generic rig.

No! This is a very specific rig for a specific situation. It is for deep, concentrated schools of fish that are feeding on baitfish, more specifically, shad.
