It’s not just National Introverts Day - it’s World Introverts Day. Introverts of the world Unite - individually. This actually is an internationally recognized day.
I'm what I like to call a "friendly introvert." I like to say hi and even talk a little bit to strangers, but it's because I like to make people feel good. Otherwise, I can sit in my house for five days and never talk to anyone. Teleworking has been one of the best gifts of my life!
I don’t think introverts are unfriendly at all. We just need to recharge quietly after being around people. Sometimes extroverts pull me out of my shell and sometimes I want to run away☺️
This. I hosted Christmas, so for the past two days since everyone left I've just been chilling at home enjoying the quiet. I liked hosting, but now I need some recovery time.
I've literally been doing this for years, every winter i claim one month for no social events, and it's just for me - it usually ends up being January. I call it hibernating!
Yes! We definitely need a whole month just to recover from the excessive "people-ing" of the holiday season! (And besides... everyone is just sleeping all day on the 2nd..not enough reading time!) 😉
I personally don't mind being introverted in different degrees. I don't need silence all the time, but soothing music with no lyrics is good sometimes. Or favorite songs with lyrics that have special, deep, personal meaning for me. Also, I don't want to be completely disconnected the whole time. I don't mind connecting through text, or playing online games with friends. Just not all the time, and not face to face, or where I'm hearing a voice. It's complicated. I'm complicated...and I'm ok with that now, because I don't require anyone to make me happy or cater to my needs. So I don't confuse self-care with being demanding or selfish anymore.
@@darbymori350 to be completely honest, aside from the fact that millions of people are getting sick, dying, and/or losing people they know...and the civil unrest due to specific laws and misinformation...I was thrilled at the prospect of not having to leave my apartment for months except for necessities.
Last weekend I watched the movie His Girl Friday with some friends over Zoom. There was one scene where i swear Hildy (Rosalind Russell's character) said more in 3 minutes than I say in a whole week!
I’m an introvert not because I don’t like going out and meet people, because I do. But while doing that, I get exhausted. I charge up being at home “alone” (a.k.a with my family and closest friends). An extrovert is the opposite, they charge up by being out with people, and get exhausted at home alone.
I've always had anxiety with large groups of people. I used to literally tell other people my food orders at restaurants and fast food places cause I was too scared to ask. I've grown out of that though thankfully but I still enjoy time alone at home with my animals. I do like to go out places sometimes but it is exhausting talking to other people. I was always so exhausted after work because of that.
I'm still working home. Someone who knows I am an introvert asked me if I found having zoom calls less exhausting then being in person. Like she sounded convinced her thought made total sense. I said, "um, no, I'm still talking and listening to people, all day." She seemed confused. lol
Being an introvert, I find the whole quarantine pandemic a blessing. No longer do I have to be around others or go in to work and be around coworkers. Working from home alone.
I think every January should be like the Covid lock down. Everything shuts down, its quiet no one on the roads, no social commitments, just blissful silence. #myhappyplace
I was wondering why I didn't do Christmas decor as big this year, forgetting I didn't waste travel time twice per day from Thanksgiving through mid-January. Ah, #introvert_happy_place
@@meganmackenzie5993 I think I actually went bigger this year. Which is funny cause I live alone and have no one else to see the indoor stuff but me. However I love Christmas decorations, sitting alone with a cup of coffee, a book and twinkly lights is my happy place.

YES. This introvert would never risk waving at people though - if they're extroverts it just encourages them and then they get confused. Maybe we want to change it to a Queen's wave: something that says goodbye at the same time - or at least makes them think you're crazy enough to leave alone.
Ahaha I love your comment! I look out the window to check it is all clear before walking down to the mailbox, just in case someone out there wants to talk. I have great neighbours and do enjoy taking to them for a minute every now and then but it's nice to have the choice 😂
@@libbykat3958 So true and I absolutely have done the same. It's too bad we haven't come up with some kind of signal to tell others whether we want to engage or not. The place I most feel at home in is the Netherlands. People come by each other's houses without calling and the people whose house they're visiting will just say no thank you/not right now if they don't feel like visiting and NO ONE IS OFFENDED! They don't even have to give an excuse! I always thought that offered the perfect balance, being offered socialization at your doorstep without being obliged to take part in it in any way. No guilt. We should all move there.
As an introvert myself I give this video a hearty two thumbs up! Now I am going to my two favorite things: hike by myself in the woods and then come home and read. As an aside I am such an introvert that when a blockbuster movie comes out I wait until it has been in the theaters for several months and then go see it in the middle of the afternoon when almost no one is there. It's glorious! No one sitting beside me. No one talking. No one loudly munching on popcorn or candy. True bliss!
I look after our church nursery and I'm always helping parents to recognize their introverted children and how to nurture them. Of course, this could help us all have those summer bodies easily too, as we'd burn off all our fat while we slept, lose 30-40lbs, and look great! :P
As a family of four introverts, we've decided to spend the day together. Reading alone in separate chairs and occasionally looking at each other fondly. With the dog and cats. We might end the day with a board game like Ticket to Ride that takes lots of quiet thinking in which we're each essentially playing our own separate game together. Happy World Introverts Day!

And Kim, when that stranger in the elevator (or elsewhere) talks to you, the best response is "I have a husband/boyfriend/wife/girfriend/etc".

You are an introvert if you charge up at home, and get exhausted amongst people. It doesn’t mean you don’t like being amongst people, it just costs you energy. An extrovert charges up amongst people, and gets exhausted being alone.
Holy cow, January is my birthday month and I always have used that as an excuse to stay at home and read. Hell the last 2 years have been an introvert’s dream..
Add the music on headphones for me because I can't have it too quiet and this is perfect. Distractions can drive me nuts. I have suspected ADHD and it is really overwhelming at times when too quiet or too noisy!
Dogs are pets for extroverts; they're emotionally needy and need to go out regularly. Cats are pets for introverts; they're not at all emotionally needy and it's endearing how they don't give a crap about their owners. Respect, Kitty. Respect.
Extrovert here. And I TOTALLY support this. Even we need some time alone! Until I get extremely bored and anxious for social interaction which is can is usually after about a couple hours!
This may be confusing but I'm actually an extrovert plus love being an intovert as well. The problem with the month of January being chosen, leaves us in the southern hemisphere sweltering in horrendous heat. This isn't very conducive to snuggling up inside under blankets and pillows. For those of us in the southern hemisphere, the second month of winter, June, would be much more comfortable. Peace, quiet, reading, puzzles, gentle walks, warm food, hot chocolate......bring it on!!!
This was great. Laughed out loud many times. I'm definitely an extrovert, but I can respect the needs of an introvert. BTW Sunny absolutely needs to be your mascot. She's such a sweet beautiful girl. 🥰

🙋♀️😁 & diagnosed A.d.d. perfect when theres white noice in back ground..
I'm crying with laughter. Holy smokes, Kim.
Dogs are pets for extroverts; they're emotionally needy and need to go out regularly. Cats are pets for introverts; they're not at all emotionally needy and it's endearing how they don't give a crap about their owners. Respect, Kitty. Respect.
I don't have the emotional energy to spare to take care of any pet on a daily basis. Yet my highly extraverted wife makes us have a dog AND cats!
Thank you for bringing awareness to all the amazing introverts of the world!! Introvert January, let’s read in silence.
*OH MY GOD, I'M ALL FOR THIS HOLIDAY! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT'S A REAL THING, WE **_DEFINITELY_** DESERVE THIS!*
Doesn't front porch reading run the risk of neighbours saying hi or delivery person interactions
Good point... better move to the backyard.
Back porch always!!!! 👍🏻📖
I'm off this week, and it has been absolute heaven! Laying around in my PJs, watching RUclips and chilling.
OMG!!! Introvert Parade! Stay on your side of the road and just wave to people. 😂😂😂 Love it!!!
When you wave, no need for them to come out and talk. Quiet wave is ideal 😂.
LOVE IT! YES! SOUNDS LIKE HEAVEN!
Extrovert here. And I TOTALLY support this. Even we need some time alone! Until I get extremely bored and anxious for social interaction which is can is usually after about a couple hours!
"Just try standing in Silence."
I am getting a shirt made with that.
Yes! Please! An entire month is needed. Thank you for creating this video, so it can be shared!
Love that you are reading ‘Atlas of the heart’! Pretty sure Brene will join introvert month! I am for sure with the same book to read!
Queen of Introverts here! Love this video more than any other Holderness uploads (and that's saying a lot because I *adore* your Hallmark videos!).
Introvert unite……..separately!👍🏻❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
This is my absolute favorite Holderness video so far! Thank you for capturing the spirit of introverts everywhere.
Nailed it, from an introvert. 😆👏
National introvert month would be amazing! Reading and petting my dog all day sounds heavenly.
I've had almost two YEARS of introverting thanks to being retired and high-risk to COVID, and it's been awesome!
Today (Jan 2) is my very introverted daughter's birthday. Sharing this video was the perfect way to celebrate it.
I get the idea that this is just a clever ploy for Kim to et ALL of the blankets.
Great job. Very creative and entertaining. You two are setting up a great 2022.
Yes! We need time to recover from dealing with all the people!
Oh yes, I’m longing to be in the national introverts day parade this year. 🤣🤣 you guys are the best!
You're in! Get your sneakers ready.
This was great. Laughed out loud many times. I'm definitely an extrovert, but I can respect the needs of an introvert. BTW Sunny absolutely needs to be your mascot. She's such a sweet beautiful girl. 🥰
Yes, she's gorgeous and really seems to mirror the family "vibe" whatever it is at the time. .the great thing about great doga!!
As a individual with severe social anxiety , I truly appreciate and look forward to a time like this.
Just give me lot's of mindless happy TV, my open bar, stretchy pants and slippers.
Yaaayyy!!!😁
I love silence. I love my husband, but being home alone or by myself in a room with no TV or other noise fills my heart with peace.
One of my biggest fears is that the pandemic will end and I will be forced to be with people again.
I can't believe how much of an Extrovert I WAS!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is my day every single day…I love being an introvert, I will never change that. 😊
The dog at 3:44 - "Hey, dogs can be introverts too. Leave me out of this."
This is now my all-time favourite RUclips video!!!! I relate 100%!!!!! 🙌🏼❤️
I love this so much!!! We definitely deserve a whole month. This is genius!❤❤❤
Im starting NOW! I hosted my whole family for Christmas and they JUST left!
Ugh isn't it exhausting. I also had my whole husband's family over for Christmas and it was just too much. I can only handle them in small groups.
@@Ashes_to_Ashes628 I live alone with my dog so having extra people in the house is a bit much. Overall Im glad they came but I am also grateful its a once a year thing! My dog is passed out 3 kids are fun but he has to catch up on his beauty rest!
@@minimalaggie yes even your poor dog has to recuperate. Yes we gather like that multiple times a year though. People just love staying over our house. Which is fine but I need a break in between. I told them come back in July.
@@Ashes_to_Ashes628 ha! your nicer than me. i said come back in a few years! 🤣🤣🤣
How come this sounds so good? ❤️
It was like this was made for me Kim 🤣 please make this an actual thing, I need this
INTROVERTS OF THE WORLD UNITE! (separately) 🤣
Ah hahaha! This was awesome. My favorite parts were the decor with the different types of blankets.
And then how you got excited about anticipating petting the pup and reading.
Your tone on this was Spot On!
Introverts Unite! 👊🏼 separately.
Jan and Feb are my National Introvert moths. I live in Iowa and it's too cold to go anywhere except for groceries and beer. I'm single, live with two golden retrievers, and farm so I really don't need to be around people.
That sounds awesome 👍!
Love this so much. Sometimes though I wish I could be introverted from my kids at times. Difficult to maintain space and also be in their lives at a young age. Parenting is not for the weak.
Hahaha 😄 yesss! Bravo 👏 this is fantastic! As a fellow introvert, I concur! Love it and have shared this PSA! ❤
