I remember all the hype here in Canada during the Christmas season of 1989 about this 31 in 1 cartridge.I had borrowed it a few times from various friends and it was actually unheard of for that time to have that many games all on one cartridge,so the concept actually was a novelty for us kids.
These were really common in Atlantic Canada, I remember places like Midnight Video and corner stores having this up till the mid 90's. Seems like a lot of my friends had this one growing up.
I probably had this or a similar cart when I was a child since I've remembered all these games. In fact most of my NES cartridges were multi-carts since NES was never sold in my country the only way to play was those carts.
Mad, who me? no i'm mad i mean who's mad, how can i be mad when i bought a video game console that has circus charlie in under 5000 !@#$%^ different names I'M FINE!
love your videos! You can tell you really research your vids well and put a ton of effort into them, this stuff is tv worthy! keep it up, im subscribed
Haha! Good Ole days! I am from India and we only got FAMICOM clones here! So I grew up playing all those Japanese games. And it was common to have multiple games on a cart. Like 64 in 1, 76 in 1, 240 in 1, 36 in 1 and not to forget the Legendary 9999999 in 1!
+nhs2008NC I'm from Dubai, and we have famiclones here (I think I've seen a few, but they're not too common.) Most of them are original games from Japan. I wonder how Akumajou Densetsu (Castlevania III internationally) will sound on a famiclone.
I am also Indian I grew up with the same clones and multi cards that time I don't know they are pirated things , but now I am feeling sad why we got clone systems instead of original and I never played SNES and genesis I am feeling so sad bro why it happened like this
I remember downloading a rom of a similar cartridge a long time ago, only the one I had was a 72-in-1 and it had a really nice menu system that was divided into pages. Along with the typical early NES games it also had some really cool Famicom exclusive stuff. Even though it may seem kind of pointess to use an emulator for a multicart since you can easily get the games individually, I did discover some pretty neat stuff I would've overlooked otherwise.
Great job, guys! I'm really glad your work is getting featured on our site. :) You definitely make these cute but informative -- they come across as well-informed and are educational, but not too stiff as to be boring. At the same time, you don't run in the opposite direction and slather it with snark and wit, which can drown out the educational aspect of it. Very interesting stuff, too, I had no idea about this stuff... Monkey Island music at the beginning was a great touch.
You're pretty, you've a nice voice and described perfectly what we felt playing those pirated games 22 years ago...thanks for making me revive my childhood.
Really cool video. Here in Hungary, there was a time when these pirated famicom cartridges and systems were everywhere here, so I more or less know these guys. I love your videos, keep them coming! Oh, by the way, your voice is the cutest ever :)
This was a really awesome review! I loved the tid-bit about the seals... I had no idea that they were actually fuzzy monsters for the official version! It sounds like these carts were popular in the Canadian maritimes which is kind of cool because my copy found its way here in Saskatchewan :)
I remembered all about this game as soon as i heard the menu song. I played this alot when i was younger. I've been looking for this game for a while and i finally found it last saturday. Tho mine isnt a famicom format cartridge. Its a regular NES format.
I remember Karateka for the Apple IIe back in the 80s. In the Normal stance you can also bow to your opponent (by pressing "b") but make sure to resume the fight stance or you'll be one-shotted.
Karateka, battle city... god OLD games with LONG time i didn't see them. Im 17, so I BARELY played the old consoles.. i was a fool kid :( its good to remember them. Subscribed! :D
Fun Fact. In East Europe there was no nintendo of famicon. We got "Pegasus" wich was pirated version of Famicon. It was issued with 999 in 1 cardridge wich cointained all classsic nes games + those presented here. Some with changed names for example "Galaga" was "Galaxian" and battle city was simply called "Tanks"
fantastic. interesting and informative. I had a pirated gameboy 30-in-1 and it had ports of some of these japan-only games. It kept me entertained for years. :)
The 31 in 1 was common was very common in Nova Scotia for some reason. I remember getting a copy in Halifax, nobody I know in Calgary even heard of it.
When I was a kid I had a 56 in 1 Gameboy game. It was awesome! There were 5 homebrew games on it that were actually pretty good, and a lot of other games I (or anyone else I know) ever heard of that I actually found good! (Dragon Slayer 1 was my favorite)
My childhood was marked with my 52 and 20 in one cartridge, they had the original titles of the games, by the way I didn't know that in Ice climber the seals where changed...The wiorld where I grow up, it doesn't exist anymore
im actually never knew about the fuzzy snow monsters in ice climbers until melee in 2001 because when i was a kid i played that game on one of those pirated game
Whoa. It is the first time I viewed this video and it is Halloween today. Did you put that annotation there today or back when this video was released? Splendid video, by the way.
In fact you were able to get tons of those pirate famicom carts in latin america and some eastern europe countries back in the day. The best ones were the ones with 4 or 5 games because of the quality of each one (generally first class nes games such as TMNT, Double Dragon, Ninja Gaiden...)
@RadE498 Yeah, later on they started bringing in these "computer entertainment systems" which had keyboard and mouse too and there were some office app things in there...I also had one. It also had a Printer port. greetings.
My favorites were the tank game (can't believe that wasn't released as it's own game, it's SO GOOD) and the circus game. There were no games where you could ride on an animal on the nes, so that was a really new thing back then. I had no idea there was an ice climber without the silly seals, they didn't die they just waddled home 😂 Love love love this game sm
I have a 191-in-1 nes pirated cart (actual NES multicart). the first 100 are all unique and contain many the games you mentioned on yours and more. The other set are variations that let you change levels and number of starting lives without using in-game codes. I'll take a pic of it if you want. and the game selection screen uses "booby Kids" too.
@TornadoCreator Well, I was doing one of those things where a fanboy of a series makes an outburst about how someone didn't even know their favorite series exsisted. :D
There not actually 99999999999 games, they probably are just 7-20 games repeated over and over and over again maybe with slight color palette variations.
zomg what a nostalgia,i know i saw that clown wich rides lion and jumps in fire circles somewhere, then it comes to me that i as a little kid had a pirated genesis (it was called terminator and it had a nes in a genesis box so i tought i had sega genesis, after that i found out that that was nes :P) awesome video btw,i like the snake tongue joke xD
I swear there was a version of Mario on this cart that we used to call "Super Illusiono Bros." cause it always glitched weird and made pit fill in but not really and randomly had pipes disappear.
I have a Gamboy multi-cart, with the Gameboy release of Battle City. It introduced me to Sonic through a very badly coded game hack thing, Dr Mario, Tetris, Bomb Jack and Bomberman. Thanks 27 in 1!!! :)
Might again i say, cutest voice ever. I had one exactly like this from hong kong. Was a super 102 in 1. Was made by some company named HoneyBee. I remember wondering what half of these games were.
for me ice climber with fuzzy monster feels weird.... i used to borrow those kind of cartridge from my friends and played at home .. ahh.. fun childhood memory.. and that kind of cartridge was also found in korea too...

huh looks i landed on the tame and peaceful version of the AVGN channel
Jayashan Perera thegamerfrommars brought me here
Flying V
I had a Sega cartridge with 200 games in one ...
Battle city... I remember playing that for hours though after a while I lost the copy ...
I probably had this or a similar cart when I was a child since I've remembered all these games. In fact most of my NES cartridges were multi-carts since NES was never sold in my country the only way to play was those carts.
Same here
"Mr. Mary" I have *SEVERAL* questions
jontron ?

I remembered all about this game as soon as i heard the menu song. I played this alot when i was younger. I've been looking for this game for a while and i finally found it last saturday. Tho mine isnt a famicom format cartridge. Its a regular NES format.
The Monster Party theme at the end brought a smile to my face. I love that game

Memories of my childhood! Also nice Monkey Island music =)
Played this at my uncles house as a kid when we'd go to visit them and it was the greatest thing in world to me at the time.
Karateka, battle city... god OLD games with LONG time i didn't see them. Im 17, so I BARELY played the old consoles.. i was a fool kid :( its good to remember them. Subscribed! :D

The 31 in 1 was common was very common in Nova Scotia for some reason. I remember getting a copy in Halifax, nobody I know in Calgary even heard of it.
Where can I download the "Pac-Man Beat" by Jot? I've googled every possible way I could think of, and still got nothing. :(

Can you use the converter thing on the 31 in 1 to play other famicom games on nes ?
Battle City... oh man, that takes me back.
My favorites were the tank game (can't believe that wasn't released as it's own game, it's SO GOOD) and the circus game. I can't seem to find that awesome Pac-Man remix even though it's listed in the credits. Does anyone know where I can find it?
@TornadoCreator
Well, I was doing one of those things where a fanboy of a series makes an outburst about how someone didn't even know their favorite series exsisted. :D
God damn it 99999999999 in 1?
There not actually 99999999999 games, they probably are just 7-20 games repeated over and over and over again maybe with slight color palette variations.
Sam Lee I give up

Sky Destroyer? Man, I loved that game's main theme. And Exerion was a pretty interesting game, IMO.
I swear there was a version of Mario on this cart that we used to call "Super Illusiono Bros." cause it always glitched weird and made pit fill in but not really and randomly had pipes disappear.
Your voice sounds so pretty! ^^
I used to have the Super Joy Power-Player. It's broken now. I totally miss "Macross" and "Exerion"
i owned this thing as a kid...fuck this takes me back
I have a Gamboy multi-cart, with the Gameboy release of Battle City. It introduced me to Sonic through a very badly coded game hack thing, Dr Mario, Tetris, Bomb Jack and Bomberman. Thanks 27 in 1!!! :)
I was lucky to find a copy of this game again. Interestingly enough, I think it's the one I had as a kid (missing ribbon, and broken bottom)
Subscribed because I had this famicom game as a kid was a gift from mom dunno where she got it though.
Where did you get the Karateka animation at the end? XD
great vid! make more!
So did I
Feels good, man
1:32 the way you said it was SOOOOO FUNNNNYYY HAHAHAHA
I just came when I heard that Monkey Island tune. Not my favourite version, but still. It's damn catchy.
Might again i say, cutest voice ever. I had one exactly like this from hong kong. Was a super 102 in 1. Was made by some company named HoneyBee. I remember wondering what half of these games were.
Haha, where did that dancing Karateka man come from? That was one of my favorites on the C64, and it had totally kickass music.
The dancing sprite at the end made me lol
Your right I can't believe people have it in there collection
for me ice climber with fuzzy monster feels weird.... i used to borrow those kind of cartridge from my friends and played at home .. ahh.. fun childhood memory.. and that kind of cartridge was also found in korea too...
Mappy, Galaga, and Excitebike....reminds me of my childhood! :)
I live in the U.S and I REALLY want this game, but I can't find it anywhere. Can you help?
These multicarts were extremely popular in my homeland - Bulgaria.
i had one of those for a gameboy colour my friend gave me it had battle city on it too and it was a good game
This is like the happy and family version of AVGN, especially comparing this to his Action 52 review. But don't worry rinry, you're still awesome.
OMG Battle city!!!!!!!!!
OMFG I have been looking for that one!!!
i LOVED mappy as a kid i had a namco plug and play game
RinryGameGame The Tank Game concept I believe was reused when the Wii was released.
where can i find that pac man mix?
Cute review! I wish my NES had a snake tongue.
The creators of 31 in 1 use merry instead of mario because they do not want to be sued by Nintendo.
3:53 best part. Its the classic arcade game, Goblin!
Love the mc hammer dance at the end
