The fact that this can be used in the loop and in front of your amp simultaneously is absolutely mind blowing and will save me so much space and add versatility. Buying one asap
I’ve heard the wah from the Source several times now, and I like the wah from the EQ2 better than any of the wah pedals I’ve heard. Just saying. …EQ pedals are the magic sauce… I play amplified harmonica, a EQ is the way to remove the “honk,” bring out the sweetness, and boost the signal. I use different mics that require different EQ, so this pedal looks like a step up for my board
This pedal seems like a my dream come true. I have been wanting a unit - ANY UNIT, that does ALL THESE THINGS. Buying one asap. 128 presets, tuner, two eq's post/pre, noise gate, which eliminates 4 spaces on the board ....plus it's midi and you can have a noise free wah using an expression pedal... I'm down with this big time. Pete, you frikkin rule brother, love everything you do
Good demo. I received my eq2 audio source this morning after having sent back the eq200 boss which disappointed me a lot compared to the mxr 10 band I had (bad bypass, setting too extreme even copying the settings of my MXR). This Audio Source is incredible with the software, you can set absolutely everything and I find the sound even better than with my MXR.
In addition to the actual product reviews, each and every one of these videos has so damned much useful information... whether we’re actually using the product in question or not. Kudos man
Thanks! I try and make them informative not just about the gear, I want to include some hopefully useful info/techniques outside of the gear being presented
I bought one of these based on your review, and I let my guy at Sweetwater know that you should get credit for making the sale. I purchased it through the app and not your link. My apologies for that. Thanks for doing these videos, they’re great.
Wow Mr. Thorn, I saw the colors again man. So groove thank you. I’m never let down by your you tube movies but the beginning of this one really blew my mind. Thanks. Please keep up the great work (though as I have said before I don’t know where you find the time). Sincerely your follower, Pops Fitch. Post Script: great info and demo... I know this is going to cost me more $. LoL
I'm dead certain this demo and the fact that Bukovac and Tim Piece both use an EQ pedal a ton will help sell this unit a lot. Great playing as usual Pete! Loved the demo.
Thanks Pete!! That Bell chimey thing was amazing!!! I'm definitely looking into this pedal for my rig, since mine is lacking an EQ pedal. Great playing!! Thanks for the review!!
Funnily enough my UK dealer mentioned this a few weeks ago as a pedal i should consider to add to my board. And after seeing the triple functionality (boost, tuning too) and getting your seal of approval i think that’s a done deal!
What an infinite variety of tones from a single pedal, pretty amazing. I never knew about EQ'ing in parallel in front of the amp and through the effects loop .. that's cool. Always learning from you Pete. Great demo.
So I came here for the pedal, which I already bought and will be arriving today, but I was more impressed by that baritone. It is probably the freakiest guitar that I have ever seen. Would not kick it out of bed but would not go out of my way to invite it in either haha. Great video as always!
Swiss Guit-Army Knife. Damn, Pete - how many guitar tracks did you record for the introduction tune? I lost count - ha ha. Excellent work as always - that was some serious ripping on the solo with the red Suhr. Thanks for digging so deep into the EQ2.
I'm currently trying to decide what wah I want on my board, and being that I was already going to get this pedal, the fact that it can be used as a wah is extra cool. How do you use it as a wah? Is it a setting in the app? Also, would there be a way to have it turn off the wah effect when pulled back to the heel down position like an auto return wah?
Wow, that song really kicks you in the chest when it opens up, doesn't it? Another one to put aside for the next record. What a powerful tone tool, thanks for putting it on my radar!
Pete -- it would be cool to hear the effect of EQ pre- and post- distortion *separately* (so, four versions of the sound). If you have time, you could put that in another video.
Ok, that opening tune was sick!! Great work sir. There certainly are a few items (my Surh guitar included) that I can directly blame you for purchasing. Thank you for all you do sir.
Man I had to stop and go back a bunch of times! I cannot believe the tweakability in this thing! Absolutely 100% getting one. Unreal playing as always Pete. That thing can wah?!
The wah on the lead sounds very cool. Is there any more info on how to set up the EQ2 to get this? I understand you need to connect an expression pedal, but what are the EQ and modulation settings for the wah?
I love the idea of one post and one pre EQ from one pedal simultaneously. That's exactly the kind of thing I would want from an EQ. I assume you can leave one of them always on while switching the other? I'd make good use of that if I could have the EQ in my fx loop for global tone correction to suit the stage with the option to still switch an EQ before my amp.
killer! hey pete, which tuning is this 30" ? baritone and what string gauges from - to are you using. i´ve got a 30" baritone myself and i´m struggling to get a usable tone. the standard 84 strings for the low E just sounds like a weak bass. rather than a powerfull downtuned guitar.
Killer demo, Pete. Always liked the form factor of the original. The only downside is the lack of manual sliders (which I personally find easier to use on an eq) but the software editor looks great! This or the Boss EQ200?
I love how all your demo songs sound like little snippets of actual studio records. Those Suhr guitars always sound ridiculous. I really owe it to myself to get something from John, probably a guitar. Ben Eller has some gorgeous ones as well. They are all so inviting and just scream play me.
That sounds like a very useful pedal! I can think of a variety of ways to use an EQ both on a pedal board or in an effects loop. It looks relatively easy to use out of the box, but I'll bet it is a bit time-consuming when you get into the MIDI programming and recall. Ah well, as my dad used to say, anything worth doing is worth over doing!
This demo is officially my favorite Pete Thorn demo of all time! It just bumped the Atomic Ampli-Fire Box! :) Dog GONE it, Pete! When you use an EQ pedal to make one of the best gear demos of all time, you know you have reached virtuoso status!
SO, , the MIDI in on the EQ2 can receive virtual or LFO controlled Xpression pedal commands from my ES-5? Modulation Madness. I can't help but see the power in this thing. I'm almost ready to bite.
Been comparison shopping this one with the boss eq 200. The boss has a slider per band, but is is a lot bigger and the midi is 1/8”. The source audio has a harder-to-use UI, but has full sized midi jacks, and has a board-friendly size. The source audio app looks cool. I assume the boss has an equivalent?
You convinced me to buy the Q/strip, then the Boss EQ-200 and now ill have to get the EQ2. Keep up the good work, ill be skint soon lol. Love the videos and the music in them.
Did you ever end up with both I'm tryij to decide on my first eq pedal and I was gonna do the source audio or boss eq200 hell maybe even the ge7 if I'm strapped just looking for some solid opinions thanks
@@jonathanfrieze8497 ive still got the EQ-200 but trying to sell it. To be honest ive hardly used the EQ-200. I’m playing keyboards and my synth has tons of EQ built in.
@@saintjabroni I never did get it. It’s stupid money for what i need. It’s a pedal for people that need all those features but I never did. I ended up getting a stereo rack EQ for less than a third of the price.
You get adjustable Q for all 10 bands which makes it a parametric as well, it is smaller than the Boss, and it doesn't have physical sliders like the Boss. I got the EQ2 over the boss.
@Pete Thorn Great video as always! Thanks! With an EQ this tweakable and readily controllable with MIDI, how would you set the tone knobs on your guitar? Would you dial them up to 10 and then control tone via the EQ pedal or what?? Thanks.
Great Pedal, Great Review. But Man, you are putting out Demo Songs for the Equipment which others would release on their Album. Love your playing even if I am into total different genres. Great work!!!👍👍👍🎶
Sorry I wasn’t clear it actually does have that! I was trying to keep the video relatively simple but you can adjust the q. It’s essentially like a parametric and a graphic in the same box

You could also use this at two different positions on your pedal board. Like one pre and post dirt.
@@victormaniaci2104 buy the boss EQ200
@@gibson2623 why? The Source Audio has more presets among other superior features.
So this can be connected via 4 cable method like many noise gate pedals?
That custom Wah sound with the expression pedal was awesome and inspiring.
Not only are the demos great, but your tunes you write for the demos are killer. This was awesome!! Thanks Pete
The great big smile at 9 minutes when he turns the eq on. Like a kid pulling off a magic trick. Getting one of these.
Got one. It's great.
Without a doubt my favourite youtube guitarist. Even went a bit Alex Lifeson near the end. Heaven!
