There are a few more things but i have to get going to work. Good pedal, just has some paticulars about it.
How does the noise gate work in split mode? Is it applied to each channel separately? It would be useful to have a mode that has the gate on the output of one channel only while using the input on the other channel to trigger the gate. E.g., consider if you route the signal into CH1, then through some gain pedals (which can have their own intrinsic noise), then into CH2. It would be nice to have the output of CH2 gated using the input of CH1, so that you don't have to worry about intrinsic noise from the gain pedals "in the loop".
6:31 I guess you wanted to say for each mono output not each stereo out...., as stereo is L and R together (1 and 2), and what you want is a Different EQ for each Mono out , that means, Left and Right independently . This is basically a Dual Mono EQ 1 and 2

I love this pedal and was really thrilled when I first got it but the thing that I don't like about it is the printed frequencies on the screen, they don't light up. In live situations where you play on stage with dark lightings you wouldn't be able to see your targeted frequencies. They should illuminate as well.
I disagree mate, I even think they can save on the ink for the freqs values as you can edit them - they are pointless. And while on stage if you really gonna mess with this during a live show you don't really need to see the values - understanding the form of the wave should give you enough visual indication though I will only change eq with my ears... left is bass right is treble and all the rest is in between 😊
So this is amazing. A few scenarios this has got me thinking about. If the signal path is something like gtr > eq loop > drives > back into eq > stereo fx. Scenario 1 can I use the 1st eq channel as a Wah emulation and the 2nd as a flat / Clean Boost? Scenario 2 - if I understood correctly, the expression can be a Wah on some presets and volume on others. Is that correct? Lastly, did I understand that I can use midi to control presets and also still have expression in. If yes to all these, I am ordering immediately. I'll probably order anyway because this solves so many things on my rig.
Awesome pedal! Is it possible to scroll thru, then arrive on another preset without going to bypass, with the foot switch? Also, can I use a non Source Audio pedal switch to go between "channels"?
Hi, Is It possibile ti use in1 out1 and in2 out2 as two separate presets in two separate rjm Mastermind Pbc 10 in order to have ore and post eq settings?
At this point wanting anything more than what's already on this model is probably getting a bit greedy, but I wonder if an EQ2+ with a clip feature would be cool. Obviously 95% of players will be using this with some type of gain pedal. While watching this video I was just reminded of the old Pigtronix "Philosophers Tone" optical compressor. I had gone into a guitar shop specifically to pick up a univibe, and saw the Philosophers Tone near it. I had read a review a week or so earlier, and I developed an odd fetish for compression pedals years before after trying an old Dyna Comp with my Strat into a clean Blackface, and that percussive "click" that came from the pick attack with the single coils just grabbed me. I took a cheap Squire Tele off the wall and plugged it with the comp into a Blue Jr. I remember hitting an open "A" and let it ring out to set the setting on the amp. By the time I was ready to start dial ending in the amplifier, the cord had been sustaining for about three times longer than any chord should have. The idea of a dirt like that; more like a light Muff than a typical distortion worked really well as an add on to a compressor that would work well with an EQ. Some time after, I got a Tech 21 pedal, I can't remember the name, it was a mix of "compression" and "distortion", like "DISTORssion" or "COMPortion." I'm sure someone knows. It was the same idea; optical compressor with a flat-Eq grit. I sold it or traded it a couple years later, by that point I just thought of it as an "Eric Johnson in a box." I found it ironic how he uses all these vintage amps, pedals and guitars, while this relatively inexpensive pedal nailed that violin tone. I'm digressing. Anyway, these EQs are awesome. I've been using the original prog EQ for a while and when it comes to getting the sound from various rigs, THAT thing is like a force-multiplier. Having 2 separate EQs that can be used at the same time, Graphic AND Parametric is just insane. When I think of all the OD, Fuzz, boosts, pickups and everything else that will be bought by just one player, but the fact they have ZERO Equalizer on their boards, it's amazing.
Is it possible to switch the onboard noise gate on and off using the encoder knob or an external switch, such as the Source Audio Tap tempo switch ? Thanks
Is it possible to route so one eq is before and the other (since it has the "stereo" capability) after the preamp of my amp.... kind of like doing a 4 cable method with effects?
Hey! Great tutorial, but how can I have my drive pedals in the FX loop and have the EQ2 be on channel 1 or 2 on bypass mode or vise versa? Is this not possible or do I need the external switch for this? My guitar goes into input 1 on the EQ2, then output 2 goes into the drive pedal. From there the drive pedals output goes into the EQ2's input 2, then from output 1 to the amp. My I/O routing is set to external loop 2>1 and I have the split function on for channel 1 and 2, but I cant seem to use the channels individually? It seems that both channels are linked so I basically can't adjust 2 totally different EQ settings I've also tried to mix the channels with PEQ settings on both channels or GEQ on both.
The FX Loop setting basically puts the two EQ engines in series and sets the external pedal(s) between them. So unless you want EQ adjustments on both sides of the loop, you'll want to set one of the EQs totally flat. You can then use the external switch to move the EQ settings either before or after the loop.
Great video. Thanks for producing this amazing pedal. I’ve started experimenting with midi presets and I’m wondering if you can help me work out how to use the inbuilt foot switch to toggle between presets with a short press rather than eq settings on and off - I’d like to access the tuner easily as well. Just to be clear, I have a multi-fx pedal that sends program change signals to the eq2. That’s working great. I’d also like the opportunity to select a different eq preset to boost specific frequencies from time to time by pressing the inbuilt switch. I hope that’s clear enough. Is this possible without incorporating an external foot switch?
Do the 2 EQ engines mix to one single output? I’m looking to make a Low and High Pass Filter on two different points in my signal chain and mix them into my DI.
The short answer is yes. There are a few things you can do - if you set the routing to Stereo In/Mono Out the EQ2 will take the signals from Input 1 and Input 2, run each through its own EQ engine, and mix them both to Output 1 (mono). You can also use the Loop setting, but that requires special cable routing - signal into Input 1 > through Channel 1 EQ > out of Output 2 > though whatever pedals are in the loop > back into Input 2 > through the Channel 2 EQ > out of Output 1. If you're using the Loop Routing, you can still make individual adjustments to both EQ engines. Not sure which of those options works best for you, but both are viable. You can also set the pedal to Stereo In/Stereo Out and route your cables Input 1 > Output 1 > Input 2 > Output 2 > next pedal in the chain - that is a way to run the EQ engines in series.
sourceaudioeffects that’s awesome!! I think the stereo in, mono out wil be my option of choice. Might even go stereo stereo and mix later. I’m guessing a mono to stereo option isn’t possible? That way I can split signal, use my highpass into delay and verb and mix it in with my low pass using a Boss LS-2
for chapman stick players: is the Tuner chromatic and adjustable to different Hz like 435 Hz to 444 Hz? Is it possible to save different Tuner settings? How sensitive is the tuner + - 1 cent ?
Hiya - what is the easiest way to run an external tap switch (for preset selection) & an expression pedal (for eq band sweeps)? Can this setup be done without using MIDI?
Hi! Is the EQ2 compatible with boss FS-6 switcher, for example? I ask because the boss uses mono cables and the eq2 pedal uses a stereo cable for external controlling.
A few questions about the gate: Is there a dedicated midi-command to turn it off/on or would I have to copy the preset, turn it off in the second present and swap between these presets in order to turn it on or off? Is there a way to control Attack and Release? Because in many cases these "one dial gates" are either too soft or too hard, depending on the application (Solos, Djent and so on). Is the "gate source" something like signal trigger, meaning that it can gate i.e. channel 1 while it listens to channel 2? thanks
1. Yes, you can assign any MIDI CC value to engage/disengage the gate with the Neuro Desktop Editor. Just go to Device > Edit Device MIDI Map. 2. Sorry there is only a Threshold control. 3. Yes, you choose between channel 1 and channel 2 as the gate source.
Interested in this pedal, but did not see anything on PC MIDI changes. I would have to assume this is possible for the 128 presets. I have a Boss ES8 that I would like to control it with. Will this be an issue? Although it will be used to tone shape, a big advantage I see is controlling volume levels from patch to patch within the ES8. Please advise.
Not sure if you answered this in the video, but if I had a midi pedal with more than 1 button, could I set each button to bring up a different preset (so I could use more than 2 presets on command during 1 song)?
Can you make the adjustments in the software in real time? Like if someone is playing through the pedal can you tweak those software parameters and hear what it’s doing etc?
I have a couple of questions: 1. Does the tuner mute the signal when engaged like most tuner pedals do? 2. Is it possible to plug in 2 instruments into the inputs (i.e. a fretted and a fretless bass), and have the stereo splitting functionality usable for each? Only one instrument gets used at a time. It would be nice to be able to eliminate the A/B switches that I currently use.
Are the master volume and trims global presets ? Or is it possible to have different values for those parameters saved in each preset ? I have a Victory amplifier that has a clean and a crunch channel that share the same gain and master knobs on the amp. The problem is that the crunch channel is much louder than the clean channel. Could the EQ2 Equalizer help me solve this ? Would it be possible to have a preset on the EQ2 that would turn the volume down a little when I use my crunch channel ? Thanks !
Yes, you can absolutely do that. We talk a bit about the individual gain controls at 13:00 in the video. You can boost or cut the gain of Channel 1 and Channel 2 individually. At that point you can also use the OUTPUT knob on the pedal to boost or cut both channels equally, but they will still maintain the GAIN differences in relation to each other. You can adjust the GAIN of each Channel either in the pedal's Edit Menu or in the Neuro Editor. And yes, it is also possible with the Neuro Editor to individually adjust the Input Trim for both Inputs. All of these adjustments are per preset - not global.
Is there a way to use the expression pedal as a volume pedal when the EQ is bypassed? This would be a nice way to keep the volumen pedal out of the signal chain.
Sorry, no. You can't control the Output level while the pedal is bypassed. You could however have a preset with all the frequencies set completely flat and expression assigned to the master output level.
Anyone know if the gate is channel assignable? Could be a great feature for someone who likes to use a gate before the amp input and in the FX loop for that super precise modern metal gating.
Man this looks great, just watched Pete's awesome video on it as well. If (for example) i changed 500, 1k and 2k to be 800, 1.2k and 1.6 k in the software, will the those numbers appear on the pedal display, or will the display labels always say 500, 1k, 2k regardless of the bands set under the hood?
Could the Q-factor be set narrow enough to effectively act as a notch filter? Could be a handy tool to cut feed back on stage. But only if the Q factor gets narrow enough...
Great video! Quick question: is there a way EQ2 can pass through a MIDI command from an external controller onto another SA pedal via the Control Port? I know I am trying to be smart and avoid buying the Neuro Hub, but hey - I gotta try :) The idea is I have the EQ2 and the Lunar, but I don't have the Neuro Hub, and I wonder if I can somehow control the Lunar from an external MIDI controller, other than via USB Midi (which is doable, but a little more difficult, as it needs an additiona USB Host module.)
You can run the source audio pedals in series via the second input and pass messages thru one pedal to the next from one midi controller. You also can run it using the midi thru function and run it from usb or midi out to the controller of the next pedal.
@@davidtidwell3563 yes, thank you, and correct me if I am wrong, I can still use stereo capabilities if I use the TRS cable for the 2nd input, where ring will be the channel to transmit commands, and tip will carry the audio signal as usual?
Yes, yes, and yes. We've seen musicians put the EQ2 in many different spots in their signal chains. It can be useful in the front of a chain if you're changing guitars and want to maintain a consistent signal level going into your drive pedals, or if you want to be able to boost the level going into your drive for a bit more break up. It's also useful at the end of a chain if you just want to be able to make some tweaks to the overall brightness or darkness of your tone.
That is an excellent question. We usually use the EQ2 either at the very beginning or the very end of the signal chain. Putting the pedal at the front of the chain can be useful if you're switching guitars a lot, it can be nice to use the EQ2 to compensate for volume changes between different guitars. You can also use it to accentuate certain characteristics of different guitars (obviously you don't want to try and match the tones of different guitars, because what would be the point of switching at all?). It's also can be useful to put an EQ in front of a drive pedal because pushing more or less volume or particular frequencies into a drive pedal can really affect the way the drive breaks up. There is also a great argument for putting the EQ2 at the end of your signal chain - this makes sense to a lot of people. It is nice to be able to manipulate the final equalization of your entire signal - maybe boost some highs or lows, or just give yourself a little volume kick whenever it's necessary. So just figure out what you want from the pedal and do some experimenting. Thanks for considering the EQ2. :-)
@@sourceaudioeffects Could you have channel 1 at the beginning of the chain to adjust EQ before any drive pedals, and channel 2 near the end of the chain (or even on the effects loop of the amp) to fine tune EQ there? Presets could then have two different EQ settings for each channel or have one channel flat while the other has some EQ changes.
It does, but it would require an adapter cable to convert it from 1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS. Email us at contact@sourceaudio.net for instructions if you need them.
Yes, you can do that. You can select whether the Noice Gate shuts down Channel 1, Channel 2 or Both Channels. You can also choose whether the Noise Gate is reacting to Input 1 or Input 2.
I owned the first version of it but sold it bc I switched into the world of Kemper. NOW I´m back in the real amp world again and am looking for just like such a pedal. Question, though: If I want to replace my wah pedal AND use an expression pedal also for volume (heel=rhythm, toe=solo). Is this possible by using just ONE expression pedal?
@@bassyeywell, that’s a possible philosophy but as far as I know there won’t be any alterations using this pedal especially. To me the possibilities of using the pedal in a lot of different ways plus having presets rules any tone suck out
I have a question: I have an hybrid guitar with 2 outputs, one for a condenser mic inside the guitar, and the other for a P90. Can I plug my two outputs in the eq2, so that each of my outputs have its own eq? That would be fantastique!! Thanks!!
Thanks for asking, Robert - we made quite a few updates with the EQ2. The EQ2 has stereo ins and outs (1st was mono), 128 MIDI accessible presets (1st had 4), parametric and graphic EQ editing (1st was only graphic), a built in tuner (no tuner in 1st), 10 adjustable freq bands (1st had 8), compatible with our Neuro Desktop Editor and Neuro Hub, a built in noise gate (not in 1st). That's just a few a the main differences.
@@sourceaudioeffects Thanks for the explanation! I watched Pete Thorn's demo of the pedal, and I am blown away! Very cool! I have the SA L.A. Lady, and it is awesome! I would really like to get the C4 and the EQ2! It is just a matter of funds. :) Keep the great, innovative pedals coming!
@@robertsimpson5801 Thanks for the positive words, Robert. We put a ton of work into making the EQ2 as useful to musicians as possible, so it's nice to hear the good feedback. Yeah, the Pete Thorn demo is amazing - he always does awesome work. And thanks for rocking the L.A. Lady Overdrive!
Hi guys great pedal! Just a question. I am not critizing anyone). Why did you choose to install such an old style screen instead of a more modern and detailed one? Thank you.
Yes, the highest and lowest frequency bands can be set as shelving filters, meaning they will boost of cut all the frequencies either below or above the cut-off freq. Since they're parametric you can move those cut-off points to whatever freq you choose.
@@sourceaudioeffects Thank you. You say that they can be 'set' as shelving filters. Are they shelving filters by default or do I have to set them as shelving filters? If so how? Thank you.
I'm looking if anyone can explain to me how to run this eq2 in front and in back at the same time? I'm currently running it through my fx loop. Thanks in advance.
Set the I/O Routing for "Cascade - Channels 1->2." Plug the guitar into Input 1 > Output 1 to your amp > out the FX loop to Input 2 > Output 2 to the FX return.
I am nuts. I want to buy this pedal even though I already have fantastic EQ options in an Axe Fx III and will have a Neural Quad Cortex soon. Too long of a story to explain why, but using this thing in the loop of my non-GEQ Mesa Mark IIC+ is the most important use I would have for this pedal. It is too bad it can't do battery power though. Adding that and wireless control from the phone app would create a new stratosphere of next level, even though this thing is already next level.
@@jsullivan2112 Did not even know the IV had that. The V 90 watt that I had did not even have that. IIC+ does not either. Love the IV though. Was my gateway into my Mark love affair.
@@jsullivan2112 Yeah seems to be an uncommon thing (was not on my Roadster either), but could be really convenient for sure. Marks are end game type of amps, and a bubinga one would be a gem. IVs can also unbelievable values. My monogamous marriage to Mark amps has come into conflict after discovering Wizard amps. The IIC+ does everything I want in a way that I love, but I have to use a drive in front and a 10 band EQ in the loop to get it to my sweet spot. The Wizard MTL MKII that I just picked up gets me to the same end result with no external pedals or extra EQs, more straight forward dialing in, a bit less compression, and even more punch. Am liking the MTL over the Modern Classic, which was my gateway into Wizards. Am going to shed a tear when I have to let my Mark go before the EOY, but the Wizards are so damn expensive I can't keep them both.

Yes, to all those scenarios. This would require some work in the Neuro editor to set up all that stuff, but yes, it is possible. :-)
Put the "visual graphic" of the eq in other pedal : Aftershock, L.A. Lady and Kingmaker please!!
Awesome pedal! Is it possible to scroll thru, then arrive on another preset without going to bypass, with the foot switch? Also, can I use a non Source Audio pedal switch to go between "channels"?
I have just learned about this thing. It seams amazing!
Can it combine signals from both outputs evenly into a single output, like a ABY pedal?
informative profound easy and clear , thank you
Hi, Is It possibile ti use in1 out1 and in2 out2 as two separate presets in two separate rjm Mastermind Pbc 10 in order to have ore and post eq settings?
How accurate is the tuner? In cents that is
At this point wanting anything more than what's already on this model is probably getting a bit greedy, but I wonder if an EQ2+ with a clip feature would be cool.
Yes, you can definitely do that. Pete Thorn talks about that in his demo of the EQ2. ruclips.net/video/unULQJLKg7I/видео.html&t
I’m looking to make a Low and High Pass Filter on two different points in my signal chain and mix them into my DI.
arQuest I’m looking to do something similar.
Can I use this in the fx loops of both my 2 amp setup with the stereo ins and outs?
I bought the Boss EQ200, more hands on :) I like physical sliders, this pedal looks good but a bit too much fiddle fiddle going on
I would extremely difficult to change something in the middle of a gig.
Hiya - what is the easiest way to run an external tap switch (for preset selection) & an expression pedal (for eq band sweeps)? Can this setup be done without using MIDI?
I wish it had an lcd display. It is difficult to read though looks like a nice pedal.
Hi! Is the EQ2 compatible with boss FS-6 switcher, for example? I ask because the boss uses mono cables and the eq2 pedal uses a stereo cable for external controlling.
How many dB/octave is the HPF?
A few questions about the gate:
Is there a dedicated midi-command to turn it off/on or would I have to copy the preset, turn it off in the second present and swap between these presets in order to turn it on or off?
This thing is a beast!
Can you make the adjustments in the software in real time? Like if someone is playing through the pedal can you tweak those software parameters and hear what it’s doing etc?
Absolutely. You can play through the EQ2 and hear what it's doing while making edits with the Neuro Desktop and Neuro Mobile App.
Jason Buchko the video shows that the tuner mutes, and the reviewer also tells us this. Did you watch the video with the sound down lol.
hello, when you turn off or cut power to the eq2 do the previously saved values remain or do you have to start over? thank you
Saved
@@sourceaudioeffects That is absolutely great ! I definitely need this pedal ;-)
It will display the labels written on the screen. Those don’t change, but internally will be the new values you selected.
Where can I find the default midi mapping?
Is this compatable with the Disaster Area Q Connect?
the chorus effect is cool
Can the Limiter be placed both post and pre EQ?
Could the Q-factor be set narrow enough to effectively act as a notch filter? Could be a handy tool to cut feed back on stage. But only if the Q factor gets narrow enough...
Yes
Where do you implement that pedal?
Before your pedalboard?
After your pedalboard?
As part of a loop in your pedalboard?
Thank you.
How does this connect to the neuro hub?
I wonder if people even realize that this is basically every boost pedal ever made + much, much more.
Excellent. Where do you recommend placing this in the chain? Front end or back? Or somewhere else? thx.
Does this also work with "generic" (third party) expression pedals (Boss, Moog, etc)?
It does, but it would require an adapter cable to convert it from 1/4" TRS to 1/8" TRS. Email us at contact@sourceaudio.net for instructions if you need them.
@@sourceaudioeffects Thank you for taking the time to reply. Big thumbs up from me!
If I use split mode and a 4 cable setup with my amp, is the gate and limiter on both channels or can they be independent?
The gate and limiter apply to both channels simultaneously.
Can you run one output to the front of the amp and then second output into effects loop of an amp...and use noise gate only in second output?
Yes, you can do that. You can select whether the Noice Gate shuts down Channel 1, Channel 2 or Both Channels. You can also choose whether the Noise Gate is reacting to Input 1 or Input 2.
I owned the first version of it but sold it bc I switched into the world of Kemper. NOW I´m back in the real amp world again and am looking for just like such a pedal. Question, though: If I want to replace my wah pedal AND use an expression pedal also for volume (heel=rhythm, toe=solo). Is this possible by using just ONE expression pedal?
This is digital pedal though. Real amp should only use real analog EQ! Don't compromise.
@@bassyeywell, that’s a possible philosophy but as far as I know there won’t be any alterations using this pedal especially. To me the possibilities of using the pedal in a lot of different ways plus having presets rules any tone suck out
Is there any way to boost or cut the input gain before it hits the eq?
Yes, there are Trim controls for Inputs 1 & 2.
@@sourceaudioeffects you guys are awesome! I've just ordered mine. Can't wait!
I have a question: I have an hybrid guitar with 2 outputs, one for a condenser mic inside the guitar, and the other for a P90. Can I plug my two outputs in the eq2, so that each of my outputs have its own eq? That would be fantastique!! Thanks!!
Yes, you can definitely do that.
Can I turn on the tuner when I move my volume pedal to the off position?
Do you mean when you've got an expression pedal connected to the EQ2 and assigned to Output Level. Yes, you would still be able to engage the tuner.
Love this pedal, but was very disappointed with the external loop option. Other than that, it’s great!
What are the main differences between your first generation programable EQ and the EQ2? Thanks in advance!
To me the ability to create your custom wha pedal is worth the pedal for that alone.
Not sure there’s another pedal that does it
THIS IS THE WAY!
it would be very convenient to have a version of the app for mobile devices.
I just bought this 🙂
There is a mobile version of the Neuro Editor for both iPhone and Android. Search for "Source Audio Neuro" in the App store or Google Play.
The android app works well. This isnt true for most pedal interface apps on android. (Darkglass' android app for the Element is HORRIBLE)
Hi guys great pedal! Just a question. I am not critizing anyone). Why did you choose to install such an old style screen instead of a more modern and detailed one? Thank you.
Is low cut and high cut available?
1:05 seconds in and I already bought one.
Did I miss the part where you mention how it could be enabled to have 128 presets?
You can access all the presets with MIDI program change messages.
Dream pedal
What a GREAT EQ!! By the way.
There must be a cat in Source Audio. That's True!!
Ha ha. Why do you think there is a cat here? Did a "meow" sneak into the video?
@@sourceaudioeffects I found traces of a cat biting the input cable.
Hi, is this EQ analog or digital? Another question is, is it true by pass?
It's a digital EQ. Yes, it has true bypass.
💛🖤💛
