School with no walls: Teaching in open learning environments in Denmark (Learning World: S5E41, 3/3)

- Ørestad Gymnasium in Denmark has no walls, no classrooms and spaces that are only loosely defined by permeable borders. Classes are taking place in these open spaces and use IT teaching. The staircase is the focal point of the building and the symbol of the school. Here students can chat meet their friends, and get some exercise with the frequent up-and down trips. Three circular areas are dedicated to breaks and free time in between lessons, although students also use these as a work area.
The architecture and design of this building challenges traditional teaching methods. Teachers agree that they have to prepare and teaching differently, taking into account constant noise and movements.

want to learn more about open space and land trust? here's a leader in the community on Stories Worth Telling: ruclips.net/video/N-LF06fQrxk/видео.html
I can imagine that this is very very exhausting for neurodiverse kids or to people sensitive to noise.
After 7 years of publishing this video, I like to know that, is "School with no walls" successful?
I went to an school with no walls and trust me it was annoying. Always got distracted.
my entire class would be so non focused
For non teachers, they only sees "wow, this is cool"...but i cant imagine as teachers, disturbed by noises from others teachers n student from different class...i'm 100% sure its annoying and tired.
Danish classrooms are actually quite silent, there tends to be no fooling around and many take it seriously. The spaces are half closed and some classrooms have silencing glass that keeps noise out
@@valnerei9067 😂😂i'm a teacher...sorry, i must doubt that Danish childrens are quite silent😂😂
Oval Steiner Honestly not in high school, when students are anywhere from 16-20 years old
@@valnerei9067 1-11 grade is imposible doesnt make a noise...i know this from my experience...cannot compare with university...its another dimention😂😂
@@ovalsteiner6543 i aggree 100% with u, its a joke😂😂only unteachers support this madness...if u fokus hearing the video, others rooms class had a lot noises when the teachers get interview ..its a joke😂😂cant imagine the student fokus😂😂

Go back and rebuild your beloved damn country, war is over....95% German goback n rebuild their country after WW2...shame on u.
@@ovalsteiner6543 omg why are yall attacking her
@@ovalsteiner6543 Right on. You are right.
@@ovalsteiner6543 Germans rebuilt their country after Hitler died, I don't think iraq has already started a democratic reform, take into account that the neighboring countries along with the us helped Germany to re-establish democracy, so yeah.. germans didn't rebuild their country by themselves
Well 7 years later…. Any updates?
Yes. This type of school scored incredibly low on the recent PISA.
@@sonyxperiasmk Can you please share the source of this info? Thank you

lmfao no. I went to a school like this and it sucked.
Talk about a homogeneous group of people with minimal diversification. I have worked in a building built with "hippie" ideas with open spaces.....it was a complete disaster and eventually converted to separate rooms. Pie in the sky....grass is always greener BS. If some school system was perfect with ultimate diversification (behavioral problems, language etc etc) we would all be doing it.
Finnish schools have already tackled this problem with mulculturalism by making inclusive schools where not only kids of different backgrounds learn together but also kids with disabilities
kind of ridiculous honestly. this is probably so aggravating for people with adhd.
soon theyre gonna be like "let's make a school.. without teachers" and the whole world will be like wow Scandinavia so progressive.
Scandinavia is doing everything right unlike other regions in the world, saying that we should not follow scandinavian methods is a bit clumsy
Sitting in the same chair all day is aggravating for people with ADHD
the schools in Iran like prison.
This school have been an islamic hotbed for years!
What does it mean?
@@fusitv4382 it means that conservative politicians, even government politicians have been pelted with coins when visiting this "Gymnasium", because the students of a certain ethnicity didn't like their opinions. An open learning environment didn't teach the students of this institution the basic rules of living in a democratic society.
