The Metro north P32 is always facing north . it pushes toward GCT. The Amtrak p 32 is always in the front no matter the direction. It also has retractable third rail shoes that are used for the LIRR over running third rail in the empire tunnel and penn sta. the metro north p32 shoes are for the under running third rail in the park ave tunnel and gct.
All of the Amtrak trains are coaches and a club car except for the NY-Chicago Lake Shore Ltd which passes Peekskill late afternoons both directions . That has sleepers , a baggage car and hopefully one day a full diner will be added.
The 4 P32’s painted in Traditional New Haven RR McGuiness colors were purchased by Ct. Dept of Transportation ( CDOT) along with the red Bombardier coaches but they all pooled with the other equipment. Either color will show up on the Harlem , Hudson and New Haven Lines.

I noticed this locomotive is a dual mode diesel hybrid. I believe a GE P32 GENISIS on the News Haven Railroad.I mean the New Haven Railroad.

I’m curious, why does Metro North use CT rail cars (the red cars) on the Hudson lines? I thought those red cars are soley for the New Haven line?
