Having been a sheet metal contractor, making very high end custom Copper & Zinc Range Hoods, Chimney Tops, Bar Tops, etc, for 40 years, building competition Trials motorcycles, and working on airplanes for a couple of years as well, I just want to compliment you on your beautiful aluminum and rivet work! Great looking plane!!
That adapter fumble on the part of the manufacturer was probably a mistake in cnc code that they were trying to save a batch of screwed up parts from having to go to scrap over. They didn't want to have to deal with the cost of the mistake and ended up sending out shit. Sorry if the language is a bit offensive, but that is what that kind of thing is.

You should have left the bushing in, cleaned it and the sensor with some Emory cloth, and JB weld epoxy that thing back in.
